Russian President Vladimir Putin’s specially modified Ilyushin Il-80, dubbed the “Flying Kremlin,” became the world’s most tracked flight en route to Delhi. This secure airborne command center, designed for extreme conditions and equipped with advanced communication and defensive systems, underscores Russia’s strategic leadership protection. ANI file photo The aircraft carrying Russian President Vladimir Putin became the most tracked flight in the world on Wednesday, according to Flight Radar 24. Putin was headed to Delhi for a two-day state visit. The aircraft, often referred to as the “Flying Kremlin” or “Doomsday plane,” is a specially modified Russian-made Ilyushin Il-80, adapted from the Il-86 passenger and cargo jet. Designed to safeguard Russia’s top leadership during the worst-case scenarios, it serves as a secure airborne command centre for Putin. What is the “Flying Kremlin” Designed at the peak of Soviet aerospace ambition, the wide-bodied, four-engined Ilyushin Il-96, successor to the Il-86, became the foundation for Russia’s presidential aircraft. Initially developed in the 1980s as a commercial airliner meant to rival Boeing and Airbus, the Il-96 was later adapted into the Il-96-300PU (with PU denoting “command post”) to meet the specialised requirements of transporting the country’s top leadership.Introduced in the 1990s, the presidential variant has since undergone multiple upgrades to align with evolving security and technological needs. While it shares its lineage with civilian models, the Il-96-300PU incorporates extensive modifications, combining Soviet engineering heritage with modern systems, as cited by Safe Fly Aviation. Its ability to operate under extreme conditions and undertake long-range missions has cemented its role as a secure, strategic aircraft for Russian leadership. The aircraft is believed to be completely windowless, aside from the cockpit, to shield it from the effects of a potential nuclear blast and harsh environmental conditions. It is equipped with a specialised communication system designed to remain functional even in the event of a nuclear strike. With in-flight refuelling capability, the aircraft can also remain airborne for extended durations, as cited by the Daily Express US.The aircraft is reportedly equipped with extensive facilities, including a private office, multiple meeting and conference rooms, a relaxation area, a guest lounge, a mini gym, a spacious dining room, a bar, several showers, and a fully equipped medical unit capable of handling a range of emergencies. The aircraft is protected by multiple defensive layers designed to counter potential threats from both air and ground. Its exterior includes specialised coating to reduce vulnerability to radar jamming, and it is equipped with an onboard anti-aircraft defence system. However, most details about its security features remain classified.Putin arrived in Delhi on Thursday evening for his first visit to India since December 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke protocol to personally receive him at Palam airport, after which both leaders travelled together to the PM’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg for a private dinner.About the AuthorTOI World DeskAt TOI World Desk, our dedicated team of seasoned journalists and passionate writers tirelessly sifts through the vast tapestry of global events to bring you the latest news and diverse perspectives round the clock. The airline is grappling with significant operational challenges, resulting in widespread flight cancellations, confusion among passengers, and considerable frustration as travellers are stranded, with many also losing their luggage. The flight disturbances have now escalated into a political issue, with the Opposition likely to raise the matter in Parliament.Earlier today, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi submitted a notice under Rule 180 in the Rajya Sabha, urging Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to make a statement regarding the disruption of IndiGo’s operations, which has been causing severe inconvenience to passengers nationwide. In her notice, she stated, “The extensive disruption in IndiGo Airlines’ operations on Wednesday, which led to delays of up to seven hours and the cancellation of more than 70 flights across the country, including major hubs like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, was due to a critical shortage of crew and other operational challenges. This situation caused substantial hardship for passengers, with several prominent domestic routes and international services, including the Mumbai-Maldives flight, severely impacted during peak hours.”She added, “This issue is of urgent public importance, as thousands of passengers were stranded, normal airport operations were disrupted, and recurring large-scale disturbances in airline services underscore the need for immediate government intervention, accountability, and measures to prevent such incidents in the future. I request that the Minister provide a statement on this matter at the earliest opportunity.”Meanwhile, IndiGo has requested temporary operational exemptions from certain Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) for its A320 fleet until February 10, 2026, and assured that full operational stability will be restored by that date, according to a statement from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. The Indian Air Force commemorated its pivotal role on December 5, 1971, the third day of the war. IAF operations crippled Pakistan’s western defenses and devastated enemy airfields. In the east, air superiority paved the way for India’s rapid advance, leading to Bangladesh’s birth. The Battle of Longewala also saw IAF Hunters decisively halt a Pakistani armored thrust, securing Jaisalmer. Image posted by @IAF_MCC NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday marked the historic air operations carried out on December 5, the third day of the 1971 war, underscoring how air power proved decisive in shaping the conflict’s outcome and paving the way for India’s victory and the creation of Bangladesh. In a post on X, the IAF recalled its strike on the Sakesar radar station, which crippled Pakistan’s key western air defences for two days.“On the third day of the 1971 war, the IAF was everywhere the enemy looked — and many places where they didn’t expect. Hunters tore through Drigh Road and Karachi, smashing storage hangars. Canberras kept up relentless pressure, delivering 1,44,000 lbs of ordnance across four major airfields,” the post said. The IAF added that 132 missions were flown on the western front, with An-12s and Canberras “raining devastation on enemy concentrations.” On the eastern front, with the Pakistan Air Force effectively grounded, 104 offensive sorties by the IAF cleared the way for the Indian Army’s rapid march into East Pakistan, ultimately leading to the birth of Bangladesh. It also recalled the legendary Battle of Longewala, fought from December 4 to 7, 1971, in Rajasthan’s Longewala sector, where heavily outnumbered Indian troops held their ground against a major Pakistani assault — a defence in which the IAF also played a crucial role.“Four Hunters rewrote history — shattering an enemy armoured thrust and leaving 27 tanks destroyed and 10 more damaged. Jaisalmer stood safe because air power arrived when it mattered,” the post highlighted. The 1971 India–Pakistan war began on December 3 with Pakistan launching pre-emptive strikes on Indian air bases amid the Bangladesh Liberation War in East Pakistan. The conflict ended on December 16 with Pakistan’s defeat, the surrender of 93,000 troops — the largest military capitulation since World War II — and the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent nation.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. In 2001, Modi had accompanied then PM Vajpayee to Moscow NEW DELHI: Calling PM Narendra Modi his “friend”, “a reliable person”, “a person of integrity” and a good thing to have happened to India, Russian President Vladimir Putin said though there has been a slight dip in purchase of Russian oil by India, the overall trade remains steady, adding that “Russian oil industry considers its Indian counterparts to be very reliable”.In an interview to India Today TV, recorded before he left for India, Putin said US continues to buy nuclear fuel from Russia for its own power plants, including uranimum for reactors, and asked why India should not have the same privilege to buy oil.Putin highlighted defence cooperation with India, emphasising that his country also shares technology, and citing, among other instances, the joint production of BrahMos. On whether nuclear cooperation is going to be on the table during the talks with Modi Friday, Putin responded in the affirmative and gave the example of Kudankulam nuclear plant in Tamil Nadu while emphasising Russia’s expertise in developing small nuclear power plants — something that India is keen on.PM Modi welcoming Putin at the airport on Thursday was a rare gesture, following which the two travelled in a Japanese SUV, and not the Range Rover Modi uses, to the PM’s residence. Earlier this year in Tianjin, they had a 45-minute meeting in Putin’s car on their way to the venue of their bilateral meeting on the margins of SCO summit.Modi has in the past greeted on the tarmac only leaders he has personally bonded well with, including ex-US presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump (first term), ex-Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, French President Emmanuel Macron, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, ex-Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and leaders of Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE.“Delighted to welcome my friend, President Putin to India. Looking forward to our interactions later this evening and tomorrow. India-Russia friendship is a time tested one that has greatly benefitted our people,” Modi posted on X.In the meeting on Thursday, ahead of the annual summit, the two discussed ways to further strengthen the special and privileged strategic partnership, along with regional and global issues. In several rounds of meetings that the two will have over two days, Modi is expected to reiterate his message for an early end to the war as India walks a diplomatic tightrope in its relations with Russia on one hand and US and EU on the other.India is working to sign an FTA with EU next month and has also invited EU leaders for Republic Day celebrations. Brussels would be closely watching the summit on Friday as it doesn’t want to see any outcome that could create friction with India.According to govt sources, the Putin visit will go a long way in strengthening economic co-operation. Putin is travelling with a large group of business persons. Ten govt-to-govt agreements in areas like healthcare, trade, economy, mobility and culture are expected to be signed. File photo NEW DELHI: A day before Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in India, India abstained from voting on a UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution demanding an end to Russia’s forced relocation of Ukrainian children. The 193-member Assembly adopted the draft resolution ‘Return of Ukrainian children’ on Wednesday, with 91 votes in favour, 12 against, and 57 — including India, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka’s — abstentions. The resolution demanded that Russia “ensure the immediate, safe and unconditional return of all Ukrainian children who have been forcibly transferred or deported” and urged Moscow to cease, without delay, any further practice of forcible transfer, deportation, separation from families and legal guardians, change of personal status, including through citizenship, adoption or placement in foster families, and indoctrination of Ukrainian children. It stressed the need to investigate and ensure accountability for those responsible for forcible transfers and deportations of children, in accordance with international law. The resolution deplored the legislative and administrative measures taken by Russia since 2022 that “simplify” the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for Ukrainian children, particularly orphans, children deprived of parental care and unaccompanied children.Ukraine’s deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa, presenting the draft resolution at the 11th emergency special session of UNGA, said as of Oct 2025, there are 6,395 deported and forcibly transferred children. In total, over 20,000 cases of deportation and forcible transfer are being investigated.Russia’s deputy Permanent Representative Maria Zabolotskaya, in her remarks in UNGA, said the draft resolution is stuffed with “mendacious accusations”, adding it contains baseless allegations of Russia’s violations of international humanitarian law and does not mention that there may be children evacuated from combat zone or those who lost ties with their relatives, which in no way can be regarded as violations.UNGA President Annalena Baerbock said since Feb 2022, when Russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Assembly has reiterated its calls, across eight resolutions adopted during its 11th Emergency Special Session, for immediate, complete, and unconditional withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine’s internationally recognised territory.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos“Never Going With RJD Again” Nitish Kumar’s Sharp Swipe At RJD Bloc In AssemblyPM Modi Welcomes President Putin With Warm Hug Ahead Of India-Russia SummitHugs, Handshakes & High Diplomacy: Modi-Putin Bond Defines India-Russia SummitShashi Tharoor Says Strengthening Russia Ties Won’t Affect Relations With US, China‘Light Of My Life’ Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away At 73; Daughter Bansuri Pays Heartfelt TributePM Modi Breaks Protocol, Receives Vladimir Putin With A Hug, Shares Car In Big India-Russia MomentPutin Visit To Boost India-Russia Trade To New Highs, Says WTC ChairmanPiyush Goyal Hails Russia As India’s Trusted Friend, Urges Removal Of Trade BarriersIndia And Russia Boost Military Ties As Rajnath Singh Highlights Strategic Tech PartnershipAfghanistan FM Muttaqi Defends India Ties, Slams Pakistan Over Deoband Row And Shifting Accusations123PhotostoriesVijayashanti, Pratighatana and Karthavyam; Fearless women taking on corrupt power in fiery Telugu classicsVikrant Massey on underdog stories and complex heroes; Nuanced characters that highlight his versatile talentNutrition fact of the day: How much protein do I need to consume in a day?6 types of winter Halwas from the bylanes of Purani DilliWhat Déjà Vu really means in spirituality; some interpretations will leave you shocked5 workouts proven to boost heart health and longevityNature’s rainbow feathered wonders: 5 colourful birds that paint the sky as they fly5 love quotes from Jane Austen that feel like a warm hug on a winter evening5 foods you should not cook in an iron kadhaiThe Spiritual Meaning of Angel Numbers You Keep Seeing123Hot PicksIndigo Flight DelayPutin India VisitWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingStephen Curry WifeNBA Trade RumorsRaKai Walmart IncidentCandace OwensNHL Trade RumorDak PrescottTravis KelceKobe BryantLuka DoncicGolden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers

India witnessed a grim rise in road fatalities in 2024, with 1.77 lakh deaths, averaging 485 daily. While National Highways showed a slight decrease in their share of accidents, overall deaths climbed 2.3% from the previous year. Experts emphasize the need for education and broader awareness campaigns to combat this crisis. Union minister Nitin Gadkari speaks in Lok Sabha (ANI) NEW DELHI: On an average, 485 people died in road crashes every day in 2024, with total fatalities reaching 1.77 lakh, according to road transport ministry told Lok Sabha on Thursday. National Highways (NHs), which account for barely 2% of India’s road network, recorded 54,443 fatalities (31%), the lowest share in past four years. The total number of deaths last year was 2.3% higher than in 2023, when 1.73 lakh people were killed in road crashes. TOI had reported on Nov 5 on the trend for the year, which suggested that fatalities in 2024 would exceed those in the previous year.In a written reply to a question from DMK’s A Raja, Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari said, “As per information received from states/UTs, total number of road accident fatalities reported in the country on all category of roads during 2024 were 1,77,177, which includes data in respect of Bengal taken from electronic detailed accident report (eDAR) portal.” Govt has rolled out eDAR system for real-time collection of data. Sources said experience shows eDAR data are largely correct, though there is scope for minor corrections, and hence there may be a slight increase in the number of deaths when the annual report of accidents is published.Data on crashes and fatalities on NHs, also submitted to Lok Sabha, show that accidents on these stretches have decreased — from 1.52 lakh in 2022 to 1.29 lakh — and fatalities have dropped from 56,007 in 2021 to just over 54,000.UP has reported significant decline in deaths on NHs, from 8,446 in 2023 to 5,524 last year. Officials said while this is a positive indicator, greater effort is needed to reduce fatalities on NHs and state highways, which have less network length comparatively but account for around 55% of deaths.“We are improving roads, technologies and vehicles, but there is a lack of education among all categories of road users. This must be addressed through awareness, motivation and enforcement,” said Manoj Bhatt, former DGP of Rajasthan.Experts said govt must involve civil society and a larger pool of non-government entities for large-scale awareness campaigns, rather than relying on only a few organisations, given the magnitude of the crisis.Meanwhile, govt is roping in IIT-Kanpur to use AI for mapping and scientifically analysing high-risk spots on NHs, officials said. They added that this will help identify causes of frequent crashes at specific locations, enabling targeted interventions. The road transport ministry also plans to amend Motor Vehicles Act by introducing stricter norms for issuing driving licences and a negative-points system for dangerous driving that could result in suspension or cancellation of licences.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos“Never Going With RJD Again” Nitish Kumar’s Sharp Swipe At RJD Bloc In AssemblyPM Modi Welcomes President Putin With Warm Hug Ahead Of India-Russia SummitHugs, Handshakes & High Diplomacy: Modi-Putin Bond Defines India-Russia SummitShashi Tharoor Says Strengthening Russia Ties Won’t Affect Relations With US, China‘Light Of My Life’ Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away At 73; Daughter Bansuri Pays Heartfelt TributePM Modi Breaks Protocol, Receives Vladimir Putin With A Hug, Shares Car In Big India-Russia MomentPutin Visit To Boost India-Russia Trade To New Highs, Says WTC ChairmanPiyush Goyal Hails Russia As India’s Trusted Friend, Urges Removal Of Trade BarriersIndia And Russia Boost Military Ties As Rajnath Singh Highlights Strategic Tech PartnershipAfghanistan FM Muttaqi Defends India Ties, Slams Pakistan Over Deoband Row And Shifting Accusations123PhotostoriesVijayashanti, Pratighatana and Karthavyam; Fearless women taking on corrupt power in fiery Telugu classicsVikrant Massey on underdog stories and complex heroes; Nuanced characters that highlight his versatile talentNutrition fact of the day: How much protein do I need to consume in a day?6 types of winter Halwas from the bylanes of Purani DilliWhat Déjà Vu really means in spirituality; some interpretations will leave you shocked5 workouts proven to boost heart health and longevityNature’s rainbow feathered wonders: 5 colourful birds that paint the sky as they fly5 love quotes from Jane Austen that feel like a warm hug on a winter evening5 foods you should not cook in an iron kadhaiThe Spiritual Meaning of Angel Numbers You Keep Seeing123Hot PicksIndigo Flight DelayPutin India VisitWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingStephen Curry WifeNBA Trade RumorsRaKai Walmart IncidentCandace OwensNHL Trade RumorDak PrescottTravis KelceKobe BryantLuka DoncicGolden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers

Mumbai City FC’s journey to a Super Cup semi-final became the face of a nationwide air travel meltdown as IndiGo cancellations and delays left thousands stranded across India. The former ISL champions reached Goa Thursday morning after their Wednesday afternoon flight was cancelled amid widespread disruption. “After nearly 10 hou-rs at the airport, endless que-ues, and enough chaos to test anyone’s match-day patience, the boys stuck together,” the club posted on social media. They were far from alone. At least 14 IndiGo flights to Goa were cancelled and over 25 delayed. Across Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar, terminals overflowed with stranded passengers, rescheduled departures collapsed without warning and airfares spiked to international levels.“My mother-in-law passed away this morning. We paid Rs 40,000 for two one-way tickets to Trivandrum,” said Gopan Nair, stuck at Mumbai airport’s boarding gate after a four-hour delay. “The funeral was postponed so we could attend, but we’re stuck here.”As cancellations mounted, fares turned punishing. One-way economy tickets from Kolkata to Bengaluru surged to between Rs 21,000 and Rs 1 lakh. Same-day fares from Mumbai to Delhi touched Rs 23,000. Kolkata-Delhi fares rose to Rs 25,000–Rs 84,000. “A UK round trip costs around Rs 80,000. People paid nearly that for a one-way domestic ticket,” said Anjani Dhanuka of Travel Agents Association of India. In Kolkata, MBA student Nishita Chowdhury learned her Mumbai flight was cancelled only after reaching the airport, a day before an exam. Avik Sarkar, flying from Bengaluru to Kolkata for travel to Arunachal Pradesh, had his flight cancelled mid-evening. “The rebooking link didn’t work. I had to pay Rs 24,000 for a new ticket. Now I may miss my next connection,” he said.Others arrived — without luggage. Rakesh Rastogi landed in Kolkata after a 14-hour delay only to find his bags still in Delhi. “We came for a wedding. We arrived without our clothes,” he said. CISF reinforcements were called in as tensions rose at the terminal. At Pune airport, 19 delayed and 11 grounded aircraft occupied most parking bays. Some passengers were trapped inside planes for up to five hours after landing. “The captain said even ATC had no clue when we would deboard,” said Megh Gandhi. In Lucknow, passengers shouted slogans against IndiGo. “No updates, no communication, no responsibility,” posted Dhruv Choudhary. Travel agent Sarvesh Pandey discovered his rescheduled flight had departed without notification, costing him two days and a family function. At Chennai airport, there was similar chaos. “People are sitting on the floor. There’s no proper communication,” said advocate Brahma Puthran, whose Kochi-bound flight was pushed back by hours after being cancelled the previous night. In Guwahati, passengers bound for Aizawl said they were told no flights were available for two days. “They promised refunds but no food or hotels,” one traveller said. Some tried humour to cope. “Getting a flight to Mumbai this weekend is like finding a last-minute Coldplay ticket,” one passenger posted.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos“Never Going With RJD Again” Nitish Kumar’s Sharp Swipe At RJD Bloc In AssemblyPM Modi Welcomes President Putin With Warm Hug Ahead Of India-Russia SummitHugs, Handshakes & High Diplomacy: Modi-Putin Bond Defines India-Russia SummitShashi Tharoor Says Strengthening Russia Ties Won’t Affect Relations With US, China‘Light Of My Life’ Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away At 73; Daughter Bansuri Pays Heartfelt TributePM Modi Breaks Protocol, Receives Vladimir Putin With A Hug, Shares Car In Big India-Russia MomentPutin Visit To Boost India-Russia Trade To New Highs, Says WTC ChairmanPiyush Goyal Hails Russia As India’s Trusted Friend, Urges Removal Of Trade BarriersIndia And Russia Boost Military Ties As Rajnath Singh Highlights Strategic Tech PartnershipAfghanistan FM Muttaqi Defends India Ties, Slams Pakistan Over Deoband Row And Shifting Accusations123PhotostoriesVijayashanti, Pratighatana and Karthavyam; Fearless women taking on corrupt power in fiery Telugu classicsVikrant Massey on underdog stories and complex heroes; Nuanced characters that highlight his versatile talentNutrition fact of the day: How much protein do I need to consume in a day?6 types of winter Halwas from the bylanes of Purani DilliWhat Déjà Vu really means in spirituality; some interpretations will leave you shocked5 workouts proven to boost heart health and longevityNature’s rainbow feathered wonders: 5 colourful birds that paint the sky as they fly5 love quotes from Jane Austen that feel like a warm hug on a winter evening5 foods you should not cook in an iron kadhaiThe Spiritual Meaning of Angel Numbers You Keep Seeing123Hot PicksIndigo Flight DelayPutin India VisitWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingStephen Curry WifeNBA Trade RumorsRaKai Walmart IncidentCandace OwensNHL Trade RumorDak PrescottTravis KelceKobe BryantLuka DoncicGolden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers

India and Russia are deepening their defense ties, focusing on niche technologies and industrial cooperation. Despite global pressures, New Delhi reaffirms its strategic autonomy. Discussions included S-400 systems, Sukhoi upgrades, and BrahMos missile advancements, underscoring a commitment to bolstering India’s indigenous defense capabilities and maintaining a strong partnership with Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greet each other at the Palam Air Base in New Delhi (AP photo) NEW DELHI: India and Russia on Thursday agreed to further enhance their expansive defence partnership, including through collaboration in niche military technologies and stronger defence-industrial cooperation, which is likely to see Moscow continuing as New Delhi’s leading arms supplier for the foreseeable future, reports Rajat Pandit.Ahead of the Modi-Putin summit, defence minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov stressed ties were based on “a deep sense of trust, common principles and mutual respect” while inking a protocol on “ongoing and prospective areas” of defence cooperation. The 22nd inter-governmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation, co-chaired by the ministers, underlined India’s intent to retain its strategic autonomy despite mounting pressure from the US and EU to distance itself from Russia.Tough to give India S-500 systems as of now, says officialSources said discussions ranged from India acquiring additional S-400 Triumf air defence systems and their surface-to-air missiles in large numbers to upgrading IAF’s Sukhoi-30MKI fighter fleet and arming them with long-range R-37 and RVV-BD air-to-air missiles. The joint production of advanced variants of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles as well as procurement of short-range Pantsir and man-portable Verba air defence systems also figured in the talks. “It will be difficult for Russia to supply advanced S-500 air defence systems as of now even if India wants them. Its fifth-generation Sukhoi-57 fighters are also on offer, but India is yet to take a decision,” an official said.Taking note during the meeting of the special and privileged strategic partnership with Russia, Rajnath Singh said India is determined to expand the capacity of its indigenous defence industry for both local production and exports under the aegis of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ policy.Belousov, in turn, said Russian defence industry was ready to support India towards becoming self-reliant in defence production, highlighting that both the countries were “united by many years of friendship and strategic cooperation”.India also wants Russia to expedite deliveries of critical military hardware that have been hugely delayed due to the Ukraine war. These include the two remaining squadrons of the five S-400 squadrons contracted for .43 billion in 2018 as well as the advanced Akula-class nuclear attack submarine, which was supposed to arrive this year on a 10-year lease under the billion deal signed in March 2019. “Russia says the two S-400 squadrons will be delivered next year, while the submarine will come in 2028,” a source said.India plans to acquire another five S-400 squadrons, while defence ministry has also cleared the Rs 10,000 crore procurement of 280 of its missiles with interception ranges of 120km, 200km, 250km and 380km to replenish stocks used during the May 7-10 cross-border hostilities with Pakistan as well as build reserves, as was earlier reported by TOI.IAF also wants R-37 air-to-air missiles, with a range of over 200km, and its advanced version called RVV-BD to arm its upgraded Sukhoi-30MKI fighters. This will counter Pakistan’s use of Chinese-origin jets like J-10s armed with PL-15 long-range missiles that initially caught it off-guard during Operation Sindoor.Advanced lighter versions of BrahMos missiles, whose strike range has already been enhanced to 450km from the initial 290km and will eventually go up to 800km, are also on the cards. While the heavyweight Sukhoi fighters armed with BrahMos missiles had carried out long-range precision strikes against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, the plan now is to go for smaller air-launched BrahMos-NG missiles that can be carried by lightweight jets as well. The total value of the deals inked with Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace has crossed Rs 58,000 crore over the years, with the missiles with a 2.8-Mach speed becoming the prime conventional precision strike weapons for IAF, Navy and Army.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos“Never Going With RJD Again” Nitish Kumar’s Sharp Swipe At RJD Bloc In AssemblyPM Modi Welcomes President Putin With Warm Hug Ahead Of India-Russia SummitHugs, Handshakes & High Diplomacy: Modi-Putin Bond Defines India-Russia SummitShashi Tharoor Says Strengthening Russia Ties Won’t Affect Relations With US, China‘Light Of My Life’ Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away At 73; Daughter Bansuri Pays Heartfelt TributePM Modi Breaks Protocol, Receives Vladimir Putin With A Hug, Shares Car In Big India-Russia MomentPutin Visit To Boost India-Russia Trade To New Highs, Says WTC ChairmanPiyush Goyal Hails Russia As India’s Trusted Friend, Urges Removal Of Trade BarriersIndia And Russia Boost Military Ties As Rajnath Singh Highlights Strategic Tech PartnershipAfghanistan FM Muttaqi Defends India Ties, Slams Pakistan Over Deoband Row And Shifting Accusations123PhotostoriesVijayashanti, Pratighatana and Karthavyam; Fearless women taking on corrupt power in fiery Telugu classicsVikrant Massey on underdog stories and complex heroes; Nuanced characters that highlight his versatile talentNutrition fact of the day: How much protein do I need to consume in a day?6 types of winter Halwas from the bylanes of Purani DilliWhat Déjà Vu really means in spirituality; some interpretations will leave you shocked5 workouts proven to boost heart health and longevityNature’s rainbow feathered wonders: 5 colourful birds that paint the sky as they fly5 love quotes from Jane Austen that feel like a warm hug on a winter evening5 foods you should not cook in an iron kadhaiThe Spiritual Meaning of Angel Numbers You Keep Seeing123Hot PicksIndigo Flight DelayPutin India VisitWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingStephen Curry WifeNBA Trade RumorsRaKai Walmart IncidentCandace OwensNHL Trade RumorDak PrescottTravis KelceKobe BryantLuka DoncicGolden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers

These include the two remaining squadrons of the five S-400 squadrons contracted for $5.43 billion in 2018 as well as the advanced Akula-class nuclear attack submarine, which was supposed to arrive this year on a 10-year lease under the $3 billion deal signed in March 2019.

President Putin’s visit to New Delhi has transformed key areas into a heavily fortified zone, mirroring G20 security measures. His custom-built Aurus Senat limousine, a “rolling bunker,” was flown in for his protection. PM Modi with Russia’s Putin NEW DELHI: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrival in New Delhi for the bilateral summit triggered a massive security build-up on Thursday, turning critical zones of the capital into a multilayered defensive perimeter. Sources said the protocols in place during G20 summit-2023 have been replicated to ensure safety of the dignitaries.Central to the security logistics for Putin is his custom-made Aurus Senat limousine. This vehicle, commonly dubbed a “rolling bunker”, which was flown in from Moscow for the visit, will be used for exigency, sources said. On Thursday, the car was spotted trailing the armoured Toyota Fortuner in which PM Narendra Modi and Putin traveled together. The Senat resulted from Russia’s Kortezh project, an initiative to develop indigenous vehicles for top state officials. This car is designed to withstand sniper fire, IED blasts and chemical attacks, featuring run-flat tyres and emergency oxygen supply. A concentric five-layer security grid has been set up, blending the advanced protective protocols of Russia’s internal agencies with those of India’s elite counter-terrorism forces to ensure foolproof protection from the moment the presidential aircraft landed to the time of its departure.A special control room has been set up in each hotel with rooftops being occupied by snipers who have guns equipped with AI-aided technology for calculation and aiming. Anti-drone systems have been installed around the venues as well. For air travel, Putin uses a specially modified Ilyushin IL-96-300PU, sometimes called the “Flying Kremlin,” equipped with four engines, advanced command systems and missile-defence countermeasures, which is accompanied by backup jets flying similar routes to mask the presidential aircraft. The innermost circle of protection is staffed by personnel from Russian Presidential Security Service (SBP), an elite unit operating under Federal Protective Service (FSO). These highly trained officers, selected for their physical and psychological resilience, will be positioned closest to the President, tasked with shielding him, especially during critical moments of his movement to and from his vehicle.Complementing this core team, India’s NSG commandos and Special Protection Group (SPG) units, alongside SWAT teams and Quick Response Teams (QRTs), will form the subsequent layers. Rajasthan high court affirmed that two consenting adults, even below marriageable age, have the right to a live-in relationship. Rejecting the argument that the male’s age prevented cohabitation, the court cited Article 21, stating fundamental rights cannot be denied. Live-in relationships are not illegal, and the state must ensure protection. File photo JAIPUR: The Rajasthan HC has held that two consenting adults have the right to be in a live-in relationship even if they have not attained legal age for marriage. The legal marriageable age for women in India is 18 years, and for men, 21. At 18, men and women are considered adults.. Justice Anoop Dhand delivered the judgment on Monday while hearing a protection petition filed by an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old youth from Kota. A copy of the order was uploaded Thursday. Both had approached the HC seeking police protection, stating they had entered a live-in relationship by mutual consent.‘Not of right age doesn’t mean one can be deprived of rights’Both had approached the high court seeking police protection, stating they had entered a live-in relationship by mutual consent. The couple executed a live-in agreement on Oct 27, 2025. However, the girl’s family opposed it and allegedly threatened to kill them. The petitioners told the court that despite submitting a written request to the police in Kota, no action was taken.Appearing for the state, Vivek Choudhary, the public prosecutor argued that since the boy had not completed 21 years of age, he could not legally marry, and, therefore, should not be allowed to be in a live-in partnership. However, the HC rejected this reasoning, observing that the “right to life and personal liberty” is guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution, and any threat to it amounts to a constitutional violation.Justice Dhand emphasised that the constitutional duty of the State is to protect the life and liberty of every citizen. “Only because the petitioners are not marriageable by law, they cannot be deprived of their fundamental rights,” the court observed. The court also said live-in relationships are neither illegal, nor an offence under Indian law, directing Bhilwara and Jodhpur (Rural) SPs to verify the facts mentioned in the petition, particularly the threat perception, and provide protection to the couple, if needed.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos“Never Going With RJD Again” Nitish Kumar’s Sharp Swipe At RJD Bloc In AssemblyPM Modi Welcomes President Putin With Warm Hug Ahead Of India-Russia SummitHugs, Handshakes & High Diplomacy: Modi-Putin Bond Defines India-Russia SummitShashi Tharoor Says Strengthening Russia Ties Won’t Affect Relations With US, China‘Light Of My Life’ Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away At 73; Daughter Bansuri Pays Heartfelt TributePM Modi Breaks Protocol, Receives Vladimir Putin With A Hug, Shares Car In Big India-Russia MomentPutin Visit To Boost India-Russia Trade To New Highs, Says WTC ChairmanPiyush Goyal Hails Russia As India’s Trusted Friend, Urges Removal Of Trade BarriersIndia And Russia Boost Military Ties As Rajnath Singh Highlights Strategic Tech PartnershipAfghanistan FM Muttaqi Defends India Ties, Slams Pakistan Over Deoband Row And Shifting Accusations123PhotostoriesVikrant Massey on underdog stories and complex heroes; Nuanced characters that highlight his versatile talentNutrition fact of the day: How much protein do I need to consume in a day?6 types of winter Halwas from the bylanes of Purani DilliWhat Déjà Vu really means in spirituality; some interpretations will leave you shocked5 workouts proven to boost heart health and longevityNature’s rainbow feathered wonders: 5 colourful birds that paint the sky as they fly5 love quotes from Jane Austen that feel like a warm hug on a winter evening5 foods you should not cook in an iron kadhaiThe Spiritual Meaning of Angel Numbers You Keep SeeingRekha and Kajol to Aishwarya Rai: When Bollywood magazine covers went too far, and made history123Hot PicksIndigo Flight DelayPutin India VisitWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingStephen Curry WifeNBA Trade RumorsRaKai Walmart IncidentCandace OwensNHL Trade RumorDak PrescottTravis KelceKobe BryantLuka DoncicGolden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers
