– An Indian Air Force aircraft from Air Force Station Bamrauli crash-landed in the Rambagh area of Prayagraj, UP around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. Video footage of the incident shows the aircraft descending under an emergency parachute before safely force-landing in an uninhabited area, averting any major accident. The parachute deployment significantly reduced the landing impact, preventing damage on the ground. The aircraft, primarily used for monitoring bird activity around airfields, was being operated by Group Captain Praveen Agarwal, Vayusena Medal awardee and Chief Operating Officer of Air Force Station Bamrauli, along with Group Captain Sunil Kumar Pandey, the station’s Chief Administrative Officer. Both the officers are safe. Confirming the incident, Defence PRO Wing Commander Debartho Dhar said, “This was a routine sortie in a trainer aircraft. Both the pilot and occupant are safe.”The aircraft was on a routine sortie when it suffered an engine failure mid-air.The IAF has ordered a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the cause of the technical malfunction. “A Microlite aircraft of the IAF, while undertaking a routine sortie, from AF Station Bamrauli near Prayagraj at 1215 hrs on 21 Jan 26, experienced a technical malfunction, and was safely force landed in an uninhabited area, ensuring no damage to civil life or property. Both pilots on board are safe. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered by IAF to ascertain the cause,” an X post from the Indian Air Force said. This is the second aviation emergency reported this month. Earlier, on January 10, a nine-seater aircraft operating under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) made a forced crash landing in an open field near Kansor, about 15–20 km short of Rourkela airport, after the crew detected a technical snag during flight.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. – NEW DELHI: Isro will usher in the new year with the first launch of 2026 — PSLV C62 mission — on Monday (January 12) at 10.17 am from the first launchpad at the Sriharikota spaceport. The rocket will launch an advanced earth observation satellite EOS-N1 (codenamed ‘Anvesha’), another ‘eye in the sky’ that will boost India’s surveillance powers from space. Besides the primary payload EOS-N1, PSLV will also be carrying an European demonstrator satellite and 17 other satellites belonging to Indian and foreign agencies.EOS-N1 is a hyperspectral imaging satellite developed primarily for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It is capable of “seeing” in hundreds of wavelengths to identify materials on the ground—making it a high-priority asset for national security and surveillance. It will help India secure its borders because of its advanced remote sensing capabilities and will also be used in various fields such as agriculture, urban mapping and environmental observation.Besides EOS-N1, 18 secondary payloads, including Europe’s Kestrel Initial Demonstrator (KID), will piggyback on the primary satellite and will be placed in space. The KID mission will feature an experimental re-entry of a small capsule in collaboration with a Spanish startup, with a planned splashdown in the South Pacific Ocean. Other secondary payloads are cubesats from Indian startups and universities, including OrbitAID’s AayulSAT, CV Raman Global University’s CGUSAT-1, Dhruva Space’s DA-1, Space Kidz India’s SR-2, Assam Don Bosco University’s Lachit-1, Akshath Aerospace’s Solaras-S4 and Dayanand Sagar University’s DSAT-1.Bengaluru-based space startup OrbitAID Aerospace is set to make history with AayulSAT, India’s first on-orbit satellite refuelling payload. AayulSAT aims to extend satellite lifespans by enabling refuelling and servicing in orbit, addressing space debris and sustainability challenges. The upcoming PSLVC62 mission is also seen as a comeback for the PSLV programme following the earlier setback with PSLV-C61 in May 2025. The earlier PSLV-C61 mission had failed to launch EOS-09 earth observation satellite due to a technical issue in the rocket’s third stage, specifically a drop in chamber pressure, preventing the satellite from reaching its intended sun-synchronous polar orbit. While the first two stages performed normally, the anomaly in the third stage led to the mission failure.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosImran Khan’s Family Stages Prayer Protest After Being Barred From Meeting Him At Adiala JailImran Khan’s Sister Aleema, PTI Members Hold Prayers Outside Adiala Jail After Meet DeniedTharoor Flags UN Charter Violations, Voices Concern Over US Action In VenezuelaUS Issues Blunt Warning To Indian Students: Breaking Laws May Cost Visas, Careers And Future DreamsCongress-BJP Tie-Up Claims In Ambernath Create Rift, Put Mahayuti Alliance Under Fresh Strain“Worst Kind of Discrimination in PoJK”: UKPNP Chairman Flags Deepening CrisisNo Compromise On Terror: PM Modi, Benjamin Netanyahu Reaffirm India Israel Strategic PartnershipOwaisi Slams MCD Demolition, Says Turkman Gate Land Fully Belongs To WaqfNehru Catered To Liaquat Ali Khan, Ignored Somnath History: BJP MP Sudhanshu TrivediUS FARA Filings Expose How Pakistan Lobbied Washington To Somehow Stop India’s Operation Sindoor123PhotostoriesHow to grow spinach in winterAkshay Kumar–Priyadarshan to Shahid Kapoor–Vishal Bhardwaj: Why 2026 is all about Bollywood’s trusted collaborations7 animals that build amazing homes5 Tamil romantic thrillers to binge on OTT5 signs of emotionally unavailable partnersFrom films to music, the lesser known sides of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ director Farhan Akhtar9 mistakes to avoid while making biryani at homeWinter Special: How to make traditional Besan Ka Sheera at home5 adorable-looking animals that are surprisingly deadly5 red flags people often ignore in friendships (But shouldn’t!)123Hot PicksSenior Citizens Savings SchemeMaharashtra civic pollsGold rate todayStock Market TodayCigarette price hikePublic holidays January 2026Bank Holidays JanuaryTop TrendingLebron JamesTommy Fleetwood and Clare Fleetwood Net WorthTravis KelceTaylor SwiftJimmie Johnson Net WorthEdward CabreraJamahal HillValentino Rossi and Francesca Sofia Novello Net WorthBrad Marchand Net WorthNHL Trade Rumor

– The Centre for Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) on Friday hosted “AI in Publishing,” an official pre-summit dialogue ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, at the India Habitat Centre. The session brought together publishers, academics, and industry experts to examine ongoing changes in India’s publishing sector from shifting reading habits to the increasing use of digital and AI tools. CPRG also released its Youth Readership Study: Patterns and Preferences at the event, sharing key findings during the discussion. BJP National Organiser V. Satish attended the launch. ‘Not Symbolic, But Substantive’: India’s AI Summit Puts Global South At Centre Of World AI Agenda “The publishing sector is changing in visible ways. Technology is playing a role, but so are broader shifts in how reading fits into students’ lives,” said Dr Ramanand, director of CPRG. “New roles are emerging within the industry, and AI is starting to influence editing and content creation. This roundtable was meant to create space for an honest discussion on where these changes are taking us, while holding on to diversity, originality, and human judgement.”Prof K.G. Suresh, director of the India Habitat Centre, cautioned that while AI could facilitate publishing, editorial responsibility must remain central, saying, “Publishers need to be careful about how it is used, especially in self-publishing. Awareness of growing dependence on technology, particularly among students, will remain important.”Prabhat Kumar, director of Prabhat Prakashan, added that AI should support rather than replace human creativity. “Its growing use across publishing, including in design, calls for clear checks and balances.”The dialogue was held as part of CPRG’s Future of Society initiative.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. , NEW DELHI: Congress MP Manish Tewari said that there should be a deep study of Gen Z protests that brought down govts in three South Asian countries in last three years to check if they were organic movements arising out of grievances. Tewari said these movements should be examined for critical difference between autonomous agitations over grievances, and agitations driven by narratives where grievances may have been weaponised. Though he did not point at any country which could have virtually carried out coups in Asia in the name of youth protests, his remark suggested that suspicions could not be simply brushed off. Starting with Sri Lanka, protests brought down elected govts in Nepal and Bangladesh – all in the Indian neighbourhood. The note of caution came as Tewari spoke about the turbulent contemporary world, from Venezuela to Bangladesh to Greenland to Ukrainian invasion, at the launch of his new book, ‘A World Adrift’. The book was released by former foreign minister Yashwant Sinha at IIC, and the gathering included P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Vivek Tankha, Mukul Wasnik, and a host of foreign delegates, among others. Tewari dismissed the belief that “India has lost Bangladesh” after protests toppled the Sheikh Hasina govt that set in motion developments which have increased the friction between India and Bangladesh. He said India invested blood and treasure in creating Bangladesh under Indira Gandhi, and “that reality is not lost on people of Bangladesh”. He said the present transition govt in Dhaka is belligerent towards India for inexplicable reasons, but there is an “emotive connect” between the neighbours, and Bangladesh will be back in India’s eminent domain in coming time.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosCongress MP says India remains “heavily invested emotionally and politically” in Bangladesh”Our Youth Is Creative And Innovative,” PM Modi At Viksit Bharat Dialogue“Deeply Impressed,” CEOs Share Takeaways After Meeting PM Modi | VideoFrom Defence To AI: PM Modi Urges German CEOs To Make India Their Global Manufacturing Base’Real Friends Always…’: Trump’s New Envoy Sergio Gor Pledges To Reset India-US TiesNot Trade Or Defence: Why Four-Year Old Baby Ariha Shah Became Key Topic In Modi–Germany TalksAAP’s Raghav Chadha Turns Blinkit Delivery Agent for a Day Amid Gig Workers’ Row’Will Come to Mumbai, Try Cutting My Legs: Annamalai Hits Back at Raj ThackerayIndia Tests Indigenous Fire And Forget Anti-Tank Missile With Top Attack Strike On Moving TargetsShaksgam Valley Row Deepens As China Rejects India’s Claim And Defends CPEC Infra Project With Pak123PhotostoriesBreathtaking pictures of Nupur Sanon and Stebin Ben’s stylish Hindu wedding5 animals that survive by pretending to be deadHow to make Halwai Style Aloo Sabji at homeFrom mindful portions to intermittent fasting: When Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Munmun Dutta gave a peek into her disciplined diet and daily routineTimothée Chalamet to Jacob Elordi: The Men of the 2026 Golden Globes who delivered a masterclass in modern tailoringThalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ delayed: 8 must-watch OTT hits to streamTamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026: Alliances, numbers and the battle for 234 seats5 jungle survival tips Bear Grylls swears by, and how they apply beyond the wildChef Sanjeev Kapoor shares 5 crunchy snack recipes to enjoy with chai during winter `Best horror dramas on Apple TV: ‘The Enfield Poltergeist’, ‘Servant’ and more123Hot PicksISRO PSLV-C62 missionTrump tariffsGold rate todayBengaluru newsCigarette price hikePublic holidays January 2026Bank Holidays JanuaryTop TrendingNFL Football Playoff Schedule 2026George Kittle InjuryVanessa Bryant and Natalia Bryant Net WorthBrooks Koepka and Jena Sims Net WorthMorgan GeekieBryce Harper Net WorthTravis Kelce WeddingDonovan MitchellLeBron JamesBudget 2026
