Rahul, Kharge meet to discuss portfolio allocation after Karnataka cabinet expansion NEW DELHI: Portfolios for ministers inducted in the recent Karnataka cabinet expansion will be allocated within the next 24 hours, news agency ANI reported citing sources. This came after a meeting between Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday.The Karnataka cabinet was expanded earlier this month with 20 new ministers inducted, taking the ministry to its full sanctioned strength of 34, including chief minister DK Shivakumar.The expansion came two months after Shivakumar took office and also saw the return of former ministers including B Nagendra, Laxman Savadi and Zameer Ahmed Khan. The airline’s outgoing CEO Wilson Campbell is set to have met govt officials over the incident NEW DELHI: Air India’s outgoing CEO reportedly met government officials on Tuesday amid the ongoing row after the Delhi-Phuket flight turbulence incident.The airlines’ outgoing CEO Campbell Wilson met senior officials of MoCA and DGCA regarding the flight that suddenly lost about 300 feet of altitude last week, reported ANI, citing sources.However, Reuters reported, citing sources that the civil aviation ​minister has ​summoned the CEO. No confirmation has come from the airlines or the government.The meeting comes a day after the government advanced a probe into the incident, which involved the Airbus A320 suddenly losing about 300 feet of altitude during the flight. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has classified the incident as serious and is examining the circumstances surrounding the sudden descent.The pilot-in-command is also under scrutiny after his psychoactive substance screening test on arrival was found to be “not negative”. The airline’s outgoing CEO Wilson Campbell is set to have met govt officials over the incident NEW DELHI: Air India’s outgoing CEO reportedly met government officials on Tuesday amid the ongoing row after the Delhi-Phuket flight turbulence incident.The airlines’ outgoing CEO Campbell Wilson met senior officials of MoCA and DGCA regarding the flight that suddenly lost about 300 feet of altitude last week, reported ANI, citing sources.However, Reuters reported, citing sources that the civil aviation ​minister has ​summoned the CEO. No confirmation has come from the airlines or the government.The meeting comes a day after the government advanced a probe into the incident, which involved the Airbus A320 suddenly losing about 300 feet of altitude during the flight. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has classified the incident as serious and is examining the circumstances surrounding the sudden descent.The pilot-in-command is also under scrutiny after his psychoactive substance screening test on arrival was found to be “not negative”. NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs on Tuesday slammed Pakistan for its ongoing crackdown on protesters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, calling upon the international community to hold the country accountable for the “gross violation of human rights.”During the bi-weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that public discontent in PoK was answered with bullets and blackouts.”We would like to highlight the human rights violations being committed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and other parts of the country. We call upon the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for its misdeeds, abuses and gross violations of human rights, including against its own people,” Jaiswal said.”Over the last several months, we have seen large-scale protests in PoK, including during and before the elections. Public discontent was answered with bullets, blackouts, repression and oppression. More than 90 people have been killed and many more injured. This has made news across the world,” he added.The remarks came as at least 90 people, including protesters, security personnel and bystanders, were killed in clashes during June and July.The banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has been staging protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) since June over the contentious 12 refugee seats. It has alleged that Pakistan’s establishment manipulates these seats to install a prime minister of its choice to lead the so-called PoK government.Meanwhile, the third phase of elections in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was held on Monday in four constituencies, amid violence and allegations of rigging. HC hears plea seeking global blocking of Dhruv Rathee’s video over alleged religious insults NEW DELHI: Google on Tuesday told the Delhi high court that it had withheld a “defamatory” YouTube video by social media influencer Dhruv Rathee in India after being directed to do so by the Centre’s Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC). The video allegedly hurt “religious sentiments” and contained statements “insulting Bhagwan Shri Ram, Bhagwan Shri Krishna and Sita Devi.”Google, which owns YouTube, made the submission before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma while hearing a petition filed by lawyer Amita Sachdeva.Sachdeva alleged that Rathee had published a highly derogatory and communally sensitive video on March 21, which garnered millions of views on YouTube and contained “false, misleading, and provocative statements insulting Bhagwan Shri Ram, Bhagwan Shri Krishna and Sita Devi,” news agency PTI reported.The video has been withheld only in India, while the issue of blocking it globally is pending before a division bench of the high court.On July 3, the high court had directed the GAC to decide within 15 days on Sachdeva’s plea seeking removal of the alleged “objectionable” video.
