NEW DELHI: Nepal PM Balendra “Balen” Shah accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India even as he initiated a sweeping and radical 100-point governance agenda at home targeting VIP culture, political influence in campuses and bureaucracy, delays in public service, free healthcare access for the poor, safer public transport for women and stress-free schooling for younger children. Foreign minister Shishir Khanal said, “The Nepal govt has accepted the invitation, and the foreign ministries of both countries are now making preparations for the visit.” He indicated that the trip to New Delhi will be Shah’s first major diplomatic outreach since taking office. The last official visit by a Nepali PM to India was made by Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” in June 2023. Meanwhile, introducing a raft of changes, the new govt in Kathmandu has proposed cutting the number of federal ministries, banning political affiliations for sections of the state machinery and replacing party-linked student bodies with non-partisan platforms. The reform plan takes direct aim at political influence in education and the civil service. Under the new mandate, party-affiliated student organisations in schools and universities are to be dismantled within 90 days and replaced with non-partisan student councils or “Voice of students” platforms. Announcing the move, Shah said, “Schools and colleges will no longer serve as arenas for political activity but will function solely as centres of learning.”End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosVikram Misri Holds Key Talks With French FM, Discusses West Asia Conflict, Bilateral TiesMEA Responds As 15 Indian Ships Remain Stranded Amid Trump’s Hormuz BlockadeUS Naval Blockade on Iran: Why Strait of Hormuz Tensions Could Hit India’s Oil, LPG and InflationTCS Nashik In Eye Of Storm As Women Allege Harassment, Conversion Pressure At Workplace’We Have Common Fate’: Iran Envoy Thanks ‘Friend’ India, Responds On Hormuz Toll RowSupreme Court Refuses To Quash CBI Case Against Lalu Yadav In Land-For-Jobs Scam, Trial To ContinueNoida Protests Explained: Pay Gap Rising Costs And Labour Issues Behind The ViolenceTrust Deficit Grows In Ladakh As Activist Sonam Wangchuk Flags Delay In Talks With CentrePatna Posters Push Nishant Kumar As Next Chief Minister Of BiharDelhi To Dehradun In 2.5 Hours? NEW DELHI: Two tankers carrying Iranian crude have reached Indian ports, marking the first such deliveries since May 2019. According to ship-tracking data from Kpler, Felicity, a very large crude carrier carrying about two million barrels of oil, anchored off Sikka on Gujarat’s coast late on Sunday. A second tanker, Jaya, also carrying a similar volume of crude, anchored near Paradip off the Odisha coast around the same time. Both Felicity and Jaya were loaded at Kharg Island, Iran’s biggest seaport that handles nearly 90% of the country’s oil exports. While Felicity lifted cargo in mid-March, Jaya was loaded in late Feb, before military tensions between the US-Israel combine and Iran escalated. The shipping ministry, however, said that it was not aware of the two vessels. NEW DELHI: Norwegian company Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a key contract to supply 18 large advanced Kamewa waterjet propulsion systems for the Indian Navy’s next-generation missile vessel programme (NGMV).Unlike conventional propellers, waterjets draw water in, accelerate it, and eject it at high speed, delivering superior stealth, high-speed performance and rapid acceleration, exceptional manoeuvrability, reduced draft which is perfect for shallow waters and better survivability as there are no exposed propellers. These capabilities are critical for modern naval platforms, particularly missile vessels that require agility and precision in demanding maritime environments. The contract has been awarded in collaboration with Cochin Shipyard Ltd, where the vessels are currently under construction. The NGMV programme is a Rs 9,805 crore initiative by the Indian Navy to acquire six advanced, high-speed stealth corvettes for anti-surface warfare. These vessels will act as primary strike platforms armed with 8 BrahMos missiles, 24 VL-SRSAM missiles, and advanced surveillance systems to boost sea-denial capability.A spokesperson for Cochin Shipyard said: “We are pleased to collaborate with Kongsberg Maritime for the supply of the waterjet propulsion system… Kongsberg Maritime has been a valued and reliable partner to CSL across several commercial projects in the past, and the association has been marked by strong technical cooperation and mutual confidence. We look forward to Kongsberg delivering a high-quality and reliable system in line with exacting standards required for this important project.”This contract is Kongsberg’s largest single waterjet order to date and signals a strong return to large waterjet manufacturing after a relatively quiet period over the past decade.Anders Valkeinen, vice-president, high-speed craft at Kongsberg Maritime, said: “This is a milestone project and a testament to the trust placed in our waterjet technology for demanding naval applications. Our Kamewa waterjets will deliver the speed, agility and reliability required for these advanced missile vessels.”End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosVikram Misri Holds Key Talks With French FM, Discusses West Asia Conflict, Bilateral TiesMEA Responds As 15 Indian Ships Remain Stranded Amid Trump’s Hormuz BlockadeUS Naval Blockade on Iran: Why Strait of Hormuz Tensions Could Hit India’s Oil, LPG and InflationTCS Nashik In Eye Of Storm As Women Allege Harassment, Conversion Pressure At Workplace’We Have Common Fate’: Iran Envoy Thanks ‘Friend’ India, Responds On Hormuz Toll RowSupreme Court Refuses To Quash CBI Case Against Lalu Yadav In Land-For-Jobs Scam, Trial To ContinueNoida Protests Explained: Pay Gap Rising Costs And Labour Issues Behind The ViolenceTrust Deficit Grows In Ladakh As Activist Sonam Wangchuk Flags Delay In Talks With CentrePatna Posters Push Nishant Kumar As Next Chief Minister Of BiharDelhi To Dehradun In 2.5 Hours?
