In a new post on social media, the 29-year-old shared a selfie from his hospital bed and updated fans on his ongoing cancer treatment.He wrote, “I have spent over a year now trying different chemotherapy drugs, backed by an amazing oncologist and treatment team. Unfortunately, I have a mutation that causes rapid growth of tumors, and none of the treatments have been able to stop the cancer from spreading. I am now entering the final chapter of my life after being told in June I had a prognosis of 3-4 months. I’m sharing this with everyone to keep y’all in the loop and be as upfront as possible.” For context, the singer had earlier shared that he had undergone surgery and multiple chemotherapy sessions to deal with cancer cells that had spread to his liver and lymph nodes.
News comes amid Bugs’ plan to release his fourth studio album
The news comes amid the band’s preparation to release new music. The group will soon release their fourth studio album, ‘Head Noise,’ on August 28, 2026. The release is slated to be accompanied by the single ‘Tough Love.’ The band also planned two special album launch shows at Crowbar in Brisbane, their hometown, on September 10 and 12, 2026. Supporting acts for the upcoming shows include Ball Park Music’s Sam Cromack, Supernew, Dirty Harry, Talk Heavy, VOIID, and a DJ set from Dune Rats. The album had been in development for the past two years, with Brunoli joining the team when he could.Further, in his social media post, he expressed gratitude to his fellow members, Connor Brooker and Brock Weston, who “indulged” his wish to release new music and perform it for fans before he goes. He added, “Head noise means so much to me. I can’t wait for you to hear the whole album. We’ve worked on it for the last two years, through the good and the bad. We kept recording when I was recovering from surgery, sick from chemo, or even when I had neuropathy so bad I couldn’t feel the guitar I was playing.”He concluded his post by writing that he would definitely join his bandmates on stage in September. He added, “I just want to say, if there were a few final shows coming up, you can bet your ass I’ll be playing them.” A fundraiser for Brunoli’s treatments last year was held by his friends and family.
