In a recent interview with Page Six, Grenier had opened up about how he had wished to be a part of the sequel. However, he revealed that he was never really approached to reprise his role, despite his wishes. He stated during the interview that “We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it. Obviously it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel.When asked about why he was never reached out to for the sequel, the actor joked about the matter and added, “I also understand that there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it. All those memes that came out were shocking to me. It hadn’t occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time, and in many ways he’s very selfish and self-involved…”

While talking to Entertainment Weekly, the director of the film also shared that initially there had been a few plans about sneaking in a quick cameo with Grenier’s role. However, he stated that there were a lot of time constraints and issues that led to the team dropping the idea entirely. He added, “I had an idea about sneaking him into a cameo, and, in the end, it was just too late in our production schedule to make it happen.”
