NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday upped the ante against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, accusing them of “doling out pardons” instead of apologising to the students for the alleged police brutality against them during the protest march in Delhi on July 20.A day after his “Chaatron Ki Goonj” event at Prayagraj, Rahul, in a social media post on X, said that students are the light of the nation and he stands with them with “full strength.””‘I have no way out left now’ – This is what a student said to me yesterday in Prayagraj. Years of preparation, sold the family land, parents’ debts, and still nothing to show for it. This defeat is not his. This is the defeat of that system which refused to reward his hard work,” Rahul Gandhi said.”Thirteen days have passed – not a word has come from home minister Amit Shah’s mouth. Instead of apologizing, Modi ji is doling out pardons. Amit Shah ji, don’t think for a moment that we will stop demanding accountability. Lathis and pellets rained down on children on the streets of the capital – and you didn’t say a word. Whether today or tomorrow, you will have to answer for this crime. Hindu Raksha Dal to visit Darul Uloom in Deoband in Saharanpur district. NEW DELHI: The Hindu Raksha Dal has announced plans to visit Darul Uloom in Deoband on Tuesday and offer Ganga water at the prominent Islamic seminary, alleging that a Shivling exists beneath its premises, as reported by PTI.In a video message released on Saturday, Lalit Sharma, Uttarakhand state president of the Hindu Raksha Dal, said members of the organisation, led by its national president Pinky Chaudhary, would travel from Haridwar to Deoband carrying Ganga water.Sharma claimed the organisation had earlier approached the Saharanpur administration seeking an inquiry into its allegation that a Shiv temple exists on the Darul Uloom premises.He alleged that no action was taken on the complaint.Following this, the organisation decided to visit the seminary and offer Ganga water, Sharma said.Police have warned that no attempt to disturb the law-and-order situation will be allowed. “Nobody will be permitted to disrupt law and order. AI is not intended to replace doctors but to multiply specialist capacity by assisting in diagnosis NEW DELHI: India’s healthcare system is coming under growing pressure from an ageing population, rising burden of chronic diseases and shortages of doctors, nurses and hospital beds, according to a knowledge paper released by Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Saturday. The report says artificial intelligence (AI) can help bridge this widening gap by extending specialist expertise, improving diagnosis and expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly in smaller hospitals and underserved areas.Nadda released the knowledge paper, “AI in MedTech: Revolutionizing Healthcare Through Artificial Intelligence,” at the 9th edition of India Medical Device 2026, organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals in association with FICCI.The report estimates India’s population at 1.47 billion in 2026 and says more than 65% of deaths are now due to non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. It projects the population aged 60 years and above to cross 230 million by 2036, further increasing demand for long-term healthcare.Despite expansion in healthcare infrastructure and medical education, shortages persist. India has 9.6 doctors per 10,000 population, compared with the global average of 18.3. It has 27.2 nursing personnel per 10,000 against 40.5 globally, 15.9 hospital beds per 10,000 compared with 33, and only 4 MRI scanners per million people, against the global average of 19, the report says.According to the report, AI is not intended to replace doctors but to multiply specialist capacity by assisting in diagnosis, clinical decision-making and screening.
