There are 24 Chaturthi observances in year and Chaturthi falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. Sankashti Chaturthi takes place during Krishna Paksha and each Sankashti has its own name and importance. Sankashti Chaturthi is one of the most auspicious days in Hindu religion. The day holds a great religious and spiritual importance among the Hindu devotees. On this specific day, devotees offer their sincere prayers to the Lord. Sankashti falls during Krishna Paksha. This day is dedicated to honor Ganpati ji. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to the Lord and spend their day chanting the mantras dedicated to him. Devotees perform various religious and spiritual activities on this specific day to seek his blessings. It is stated in Shiva Purana that people who observe Sankashti Chaturthi with dedication are offered serenity, prosperity, and spiritual advancement and they also get rid of all the difficulties of life. It is believed that worshiping him on Chaturthi tithi grant the devotees wisdom (jnana) and intellect (buddhi).

Sankashti Chaturthi 2026: Puja Vidhi

1. Get up early and take a cleansing bath before sunrise. Wear nice clean clothes. 2. Set up an altar and cover the altar with a brand-new red or yellow cloth. Place the murti or idol of Ganesha toward either north or east. Use fresh mango leaves and marigold flowers to adorn the area.3. You should sit facing east direction, fill your right palm with water, and make a sankalp. This is a true vow to follow the Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi vrat with total devotion all day long.4. Light a diya with desi ghee, light incense sticks and invoke the idol by chanting – “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” 108 times. 5. Offer durva grass, red flowers, modaks, ladoos, and fruits. 6. You should recite Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi vrat katha.7. Maintain a strict fast throughout the day, consuming only fruits and dairy 8. ?On Sankashti Chaturthi, peanuts, potatoes, and sabudana khichdi are recommended for the fast. Some devotees observe a full Nirjala (waterless) fast.9. After worshipping moon and offering arghya to the Moon, devotees break their fast at night.
