Image credit: ANI NEW DELHI: With several parts of the country reeling under intense heatwave conditions, the Centre on Monday issued a detailed public health advisory warning people against prolonged exposure to extreme heat and urging immediate precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.The advisory, issued by the Ayush under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in coordination with the Ministry of Ayush, stressed that infants, elderly people, pregnant women, outdoor workers and those suffering from chronic illnesses such as heart disease and hypertension are at higher risk during heatwaves.The government advised citizens to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, wear loose cotton clothing and consume fluids rich in electrolytes. It also flagged symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, dehydration, fainting, seizures and high body temperature as warning signs of heat-related illness, adding that heatstroke should be treated as a medical emergency.The advisory comes as temperatures continue to remain above normal in many states, increasing concerns over heat stress, particularly among vulnerable populations and workers engaged in outdoor activities.Special instructions have also been issued for workplaces, public gatherings and sports events, including shaded rest areas, regular hydration breaks and awareness measures for early identification of heat stress symptoms.Along with conventional precautions, the advisory incorporated traditional wellness measures from Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga, Unani and Homoeopathy systems. Recommended practices include consumption of buttermilk, coconut water and lemon-based drinks, besides cooling foods such as cucumber, watermelon, musk melon, ash gourd and tomatoes. NEW DELHI: A CCTV video has surfaced showing the final moments before Twisha Sharma was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal.The footage, shared by news agency PTI, captured the Noida woman climbing the staircase towards the terrace at 7.20 am.The video shows Twisha, 33, walking alone towards the terrace of the house in the Katara Hills area on May 12. Nearly an hour later, three men, reportedly her husband Samarth Singh, a neighbour and a househelp, are seen attempting to administer CPR to her on the staircase landing. Meanwhile, her mother-in-law Giribala Singh is seen going to a room. Few seconds later, she comes out of the room and goes downstairs.Meanwhile the CPR attempts appear unsuccessful, following which the men are seen carrying her downstairs to a lower floor. Samarth Singh, a lawyer, is currently absconding and police have announced Rs 10,000 reward for any information.The couple had met through a dating app in 2024 and got married in December 2025.The case took a dramatic turn on Monday after Twisha’s mother-in-law, a retired judge, publicly rejected the family’s allegations of dowry harassment and murder, and instead claimed that Twisha had a history of psychiatric treatment and substance abuse.Giribala Singh alleged that Twisha had been undergoing psychiatric counselling and had been prescribed medicines “given to a schizophrenic patient”. She further claimed that Twisha had confessed to consuming “large quantities of marijuana during pregnancy”.She also accused Twisha’s parents of pushing her into the glamour industry at a young age and later disowning her, while asserting that the family had tried to save her after she was found hanging. NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday shared a video from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Norway where he could be seen walking away as a Norwegian journalist asked him to answer her question. Accusing the PM of “panicking and running” away, Rahul said, “When there is nothing to hide, there is nothing to fear. What happens to India’s image when the world sees a compromised PM panic and run from a few questions?”In the video, journalist Helle Lyng could be heard asking: “PM Modi, why don’t you take questions from the freest press in the world”.Later, sharing the footage of the incident on X, she wrote: “Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, would not take my question, I was not expecting him to.
