BENGALURU: A 30-year-old man allegedly strangled his pregnant wife to death with a dog’s leash before dying by suicide at their rented house in Banashankari Park in Channamanakere Achhukattu in south Bengaluru on Thursday.The incident came to light on Thursday afternoon after the house owner, Shekhar, alerted the Channamanakere Achhukattu police. He told police that he had heard his tenants, Manoj Kumar and his wife Swapna, arguing loudly, followed by screams and shouts. When there was no response from the couple and the house remained locked from inside, he contacted the police.After breaking open the door of the first-floor house, police found Swapna’s body in the bedroom and Kumar hanging from a ceiling fan. No suicide note was found at the scene.Police said they are examining the couple’s mobile phones to check for messages and call records that could help ascertain the motive behind the incident.Kumar worked as a carpenter, while Swapna was a homemaker. The couple, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Bengaluru a few years ago and had been living in the rented house since last year, police said.
