This is a book that we at Penguin Random House India, were really keen on publishing as it was a hard-won acquisition,” Narayan said in an exclusive statement to PTI.The publisher said the manuscript had gone through its “normal editorial process”, during which several points were raised and discussed with the author’s representatives. Some proposed changes were accepted, while on other matters Penguin India accepted the author’s position.It was ultimately the unresolved issue that brought the publication process to a halt, according to PRHI. NEW DELHI: Holding that forcing a person to stay out of a city or district affects freedom guaranteed by the Constitution, SC on Monday ruled that a govt cannot pass an externment order routinely and must pass a reasoned order to justify such harsh measures.A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Sheel Nagu quashed an externment order passed by Raigarh district magistrate directing a person to remove himself from the district and contiguous districts for one year. The order was passed against him as multiple criminal cases were pending and the district authority apprehended that his presence would create further problems in the area and nearby districts.“An order of externment directly impinges upon valuable fundamental freedoms guaranteed to a citizen and, therefore, cannot be made as a matter of routine. Power failures at two Jaipur examination centres disrupted the AIIMS Common Recruitment Examination 2026 a day after a similar glitch hit NEET-PG at the same locations NEW DELHI: A day after a power failure disrupted NEET-PG 2026 at two examination centres in Jaipur, the AIIMS Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) 2026 was hit by a similar power supply failure at the same centres, forcing AIIMS to cancel the test there and schedule a fresh examination for September 7.Barely 24 hours after the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare constituted a three-member committee to probe the power failure at the Jaipur centre, the same TCS-operated iON Digital Zone in Sitapura witnessed another disruption during the AIIMS CRE. The examination began at 9 am as scheduled but was interrupted by internal power supply issues at centres RJ0101 and RJ0102. AIIMS said the examination was cancelled at the two centres to safeguard the interests of affected candidates and maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination.A total of 2,000 candidates were registered at the two centres. Of these, 1,342 candidates at RJ0101 and 436 at RJ0102 appeared for the examination before the disruption. The affected candidates will now have to take the test afresh on September 7. AIIMS said suitable examination centres in Jaipur are being identified to accommodate them, either together or in smaller groups.Across the country, 21,098 candidates were registered for the first shift of the CRE on August 31, of whom 16,193 appeared. The examination was conducted as scheduled at all other centres except the two Jaipur centres.AIIMS has asked TCS to submit a detailed report on Monday’s incident. Supreme Court stays FIR against Uttarakhand gym owner ‘Mohd’ Deepak NEW DELHI: Granting relief to Dehradun-based gym owner ‘Mohd’ Deepak Kumar against whom an FIR was lodged for confronting Bajrang Dal members, Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings against him and sought a response from Uttarakhand govt on quashing of the case.A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta also stayed operation of the order passed by Uttarakhand HC that had restrained Deepak from making social media posts about the incident and the case.
