His objective is not to engage in dialogue but to spread chaos. Initially, at the start of the session, he demanded a discussion on NEET. When we agreed to that, he raised the issue of the Ram Mandir Trust instead; subsequently, he insisted that the home minister make a statement regarding the Jantar Mantar incident. His intention is to prevent the House from functioning,” Nadda said.”He does not want the House to run; that is why he has been disrupting proceedings for the past 15 days while simultaneously pushing for a discussion on the Jantar Mantar issue. And if he didn’t know about it happening, he’s incompetent. Either way, he should go. This was the discussion,” Rahul Gandhi said in a presser.”The question was never that Mr Amit Shah is going to come and give a speech on some general topics in Parliament. Second, the Prime Minister apologises for what has happened. And third was the issue of the Ram temple theft. People very close to the Prime Minister have stolen from the Ram Mandir. These are the three issues,” he added.”We are interested in whether he authorised or didn’t authorise the shooting of our children. First, he should make that abundantly clear. NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday condemned the alleged use of force by the police against the protesting students in Jharkhand, saying that violence against a peaceful protest is wrong.During a press conference, Rahul said, “We condemn any violence against peacefully protesting students. It does not matter where it is happening. We condemn it, we are against it, we do not recommend it, and we do not support it.””As long as the protest remains peaceful, attacking that protest with violence is wrong,” he added.Earlier, in a social media post on X, the Congress leader said that students have a right to peaceful protest, and only dialogue can yield solutions.“Students have a right to peaceful protest, and only dialogue can yield solutions. The Jharkhand government must continue to hear these students out and resolve their issues immediately,” the leader of opposition (Lok Sabha) posted on X.This came as the BJP has repeatedly criticised Rahul over his “silence” on the students’ protest in Jharkhand, which is ruled by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), an ally of Congress in the INDIA bloc.The protest has been led by aspirants seeking greater transparency, accountability and fairness in the recruitment process.The students marched towards the assembly premises despite heightened security arrangements in the area as their protest over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations continued. Job aspirants clash with police during a protest near the Jharkhand assembly in Ranchi NEW DELHI: Thousands of job aspirants protesting alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations clashed with security forces on Monday after breaching multiple barricades and attempting to reach the state assembly. Police used water cannons, fired tear gas shells and carried out a lathi-charge as protesters moved towards the assembly premises.The protest, now in its 17th day, has intensified despite several rounds of talks between the government and demonstrators.The agitators are demanding cancellation of several recruitment exams, reforms in the JPSC and JSSC, and an independent probe into alleged irregularities.Protesters enter assembly premises; House adjournedSome protesters breached barricades and entered the Jharkhand assembly premises. Police used water cannons and fired several rounds of tear gas when the protesters reached the final barricade near Jagannathpur Temple, around 200 metres from the assembly.Despite the security action, a section of protesters managed to symbolically enter the assembly premises. Police also resorted to a lathi-charge after the demonstrators attempted to move forward.Several protesters claimed they were injured, including female students. The assembly was adjourned for the day in the afternoon.The march began around 10.30am from outside the old assembly building and coincided with chief minister Hemant Soren’s 51st birthday.Former JPSC chief L Khiangte arrested in recruitment exam caseJharkhand CID arrested former JPSC chairperson L Khiangte in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 20.Khiangte, a 1988-batch IAS officer, was appointed JPSC chairperson in February last year after retiring as the state’s chief secretary. He resigned from the post on July 22, saying he had voluntarily stepped down to facilitate an impartial investigation.The former JPSC chief had been questioned four times since July 28. Job aspirants clash with police during a protest near the Jharkhand assembly in Ranchi NEW DELHI: Thousands of job aspirants protesting alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations clashed with security forces on Monday after breaching multiple barricades and attempting to reach the state assembly. Police used water cannons, fired tear gas shells and carried out a lathi-charge as protesters moved towards the assembly premises.The protest, now in its 17th day, has intensified despite several rounds of talks between the government and demonstrators.The agitators are demanding cancellation of several recruitment exams, reforms in the JPSC and JSSC, and an independent probe into alleged irregularities.Protesters enter assembly premises; House adjournedSome protesters breached barricades and entered the Jharkhand assembly premises. Police used water cannons and fired several rounds of tear gas when the protesters reached the final barricade near Jagannathpur Temple, around 200 metres from the assembly.Despite the security action, a section of protesters managed to symbolically enter the assembly premises. Police also resorted to a lathi-charge after the demonstrators attempted to move forward.Several protesters claimed they were injured, including female students. The assembly was adjourned for the day in the afternoon.The march began around 10.30am from outside the old assembly building and coincided with chief minister Hemant Soren’s 51st birthday.Former JPSC chief L Khiangte arrested in recruitment exam caseJharkhand CID arrested former JPSC chairperson L Khiangte in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 20.Khiangte, a 1988-batch IAS officer, was appointed JPSC chairperson in February last year after retiring as the state’s chief secretary. He resigned from the post on July 22, saying he had voluntarily stepped down to facilitate an impartial investigation.The former JPSC chief had been questioned four times since July 28.
