Punjab Cabinet approved empanelment of 300 doctors across 12 specialties to boost healthcare. This move aims to enhance specialist availability and improve secondary healthcare quality in government facilities. Specialists will receive fees per patient, with incentives for night duties. A proposal for border area incentives for government doctors and teachers is also underway. CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Cabinet on Friday gave nod to empanel 300 doctors, specialised in 12 key domains, to improve healthcare services across the state. According to an official statement issued here following the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the cabinet gave nod to empanel 300 doctors across 12 key specialties, including medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, dermatology, chest and tuberculosis, surgery, gynaecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, and anaesthesiology, in government health facilities. This step will significantly augment specialist availability and improve the quality of secondary healthcare delivery in Punjab, it added. The empanelment of specialists will be done at district level through civil surgeons and the empanelled specialist shall be entitled to an empanelment fee per patient for various services like OPD, IPD, emergency calls, major and minor surgeries, and others. After the cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the decision will also help tide over the shortage of specialists in government facilities. The empanelled doctors will get an incentive of Rs 100 per patient for examining them in both OPD (outpatient department) and IPD (in-patient department), he said. However, a cap has been set on the number of patients these specialists can examine — between 50 and 150 in the OPD, and two to twenty in the IPD, the minister added. Cheema said if a specialist government doctor, who is on night duty, is called at day time, they will get an incentive of Rs 1,000. If the doctor is not on duty during night hours, but is called during the period, then the incentive will double. The day time duty hours will be counted from 8 am to 8 pm, he added. Dipke reacts to Jaipur attack (X) Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke urged supporters to remain peaceful and stay focused on their demand for the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while responding to the attack on him during a protest in Jaipur on Monday.In a post on X, Dipke described the assault as a sign of fear and cowardice, asserting that it would not deter the movement. “Physical attacks are a sign of fear and cowardice.We will continue to raise our voices peacefully. I am a follower of Gandhi and Ambedkar, and I will keep fighting this battle with peace and love. PS: Dharmendra Pradhan must resign!” he wrote.Sharing a video message after the incident, Dipke alleged that the attack was an attempt to intimidate protesters and divert attention from the core issue.“These are tactics to scare us, threaten us and distract us from the issue. We should not lose focus. Our only demand is that Dharmendra Pradhan must resign,” he said.Referring to students affected by examination controversies, Dipke said the movement would continue despite any attempts to silence it. “You can attack us once or even ten times. You can slap us once or ten times. But we will continue to say the same thing — Dharmendra Pradhan must resign,” he said.He also appealed to protesters not to resort to violence in response to the attack. “No matter how much they raise their hands against us, we will not raise ours. Our movement is peaceful,” Dipke said, before ending his message with a sarcastic “get well soon” directed at his critics.Dipke was allegedly slapped multiple times while being carried on the shoulders of supporters during a demonstration at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur. We should not lose focus. Our only demand is that Dharmendra Pradhan must resign,” he said.Referring to students affected by examination controversies, Dipke said the movement would continue despite any attempts to silence it. “You can attack us once or even ten times. You can slap us once or ten times. But we will continue to say the same thing — Dharmendra Pradhan must resign,” he said.He also appealed to protesters not to resort to violence in response to the attack. “No matter how much they raise their hands against us, we will not raise ours. Our movement is peaceful,” Dipke said, before ending his message with a sarcastic “get well soon” directed at his critics.Dipke was allegedly slapped multiple times while being carried on the shoulders of supporters during a demonstration at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur. ​India’s Tomahawk​ NEW DELHI: In another big step in missile development, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday conducted a successful flight-test of Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. All the test objectives were fully met, as per the data captured by various tracking instruments deployed by Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, a defence ministry’s release said.The LRLACM is an indigenously developed missile with all sub-systems developed by various DRDO laboratories and Indian Industry partners. Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru is the Nodal Laboratory.An advanced, indigenous cruise missile with the range expected to be up to 1,500 km, LRLACM is said to be an upgraded successor to the Nirbhay missile programme and is designed to strike targets at long ranges with pinpoint precision, maneuvering across multiple altitudes and speeds.LRLACM is said to be India’s equivalent of the US’s Tomahawk. Both are subsonic, low-flying and highly precise missiles capable of hitting land targets from hundreds of kilometers away.The launch was witnessed by senior officials from DRDO and user representatives from the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force. Defence minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO team and the industry partners on the successful flight-test of LRLACM.Defence secretary & DRDO chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh monitored all activities during the launch.
