NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday indirectly reacted to US President Donald Trump’s warning to Iran, saying any rhetoric that contemplates the “end of civilisation” is unacceptable in the modern world. In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said that while wars remain a tragic reality, the use of extreme language or actions that could lead to catastrophic consequences must be rejected.”Wars are tragic, yet they remain a reality. Any language or action that contemplates the end of civilisation is unacceptable in the modern world,” he wrote. He also issued a strong warning against the use of nuclear weapons, stating that such actions can never be justified under any circumstances.”The use of nuclear weapons can never be justified — under any circumstances,” Rahul Gandhi added. His remarks come amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran, after Trump warned that “a whole civilisation will die” if Tehran failed to meet a US deadline.”A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. NEW DELHI: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy fired back at Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan with a pointed letter. In his “final response” to Vijayan’s poor governance allegations, Reddy listed out fresh data highlighting Telangana’s progress. He opened his letter with a sharp criticism of the language used by the Kerala CM, calling it “language of poor taste” and a “dash comment”. He wrote, “Thank you for your letter. While I chose to conduct myself respectfully and gracefully in my criticism of your government’s performance, you have chosen to use language of poor taste. I won’t respond with a rash comment to a dash comment. I also promise, when you visit my state, I will give you every respect a host must give a guest.”Reddy dismissed Vijayan’s reliance on the NITI Aayog SDG Index 2023-24 as outdated, arguing it captured the “tail-end” of the previous BRS-BJP regime that ended in December 2023.”You continue to cite the NITI Aayog SDG Index 2023-24 as a verdict on the present Telangana. That index captures the tail-end of a decade of BRS-BJP misrule, which ended in December 2023. Our government has completed 28 months. Judge us by that record,” he wrote. He highlighted that his government achieved 10.1 per cent GSDP growth over 28 months, surpassing the national average at 6.15 per cent, with per capita income reaching Rs 3.87 lakh, making Telangana among the top performers alongside Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.Reddy also questioned Vijayan’s claim that Kerala eradicated extreme poverty by late 2025, asking if the November 2025 declaration of zero extreme poverty was independently verified. He said, “You tweeted that “by late 2025, Kerala is set to become the first state to completely eradicate extreme poverty.” We are in April 2026. In your letter, you speak of 64,006 families still receiving micro-plans. I ask plainly: has extreme poverty been eradicated? Was the November 1, 2025, declaration independently verified?”On graft, Reddy challenged the alleged Sabrimala gold theft being unaccounted as he said, “I respect NITI Aayog’s corruption rankings. But if Kerala is demonstrably clean, why does the Kerala gold smuggling case with documented links to individuals connected to your Chief Minister’s office remain unresolved? Why has 4.5 kg of gold allegedly misappropriated from the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple not been accounted for?”He contrasted this with Telangana’s anti-corruption drive while rejecting Vijayan’s “bulldozer politics” charge over poor housing demolitions.Reddy further touted Telangana’s aim for a trillion economy in a decade, anchored in future industries at Zahirabad, predicting Kerala’s people would soon opt for a “Nava Kerala” vision as his government implements it. He invited Vijayan to Thiruvananthapuram for a fact-based debate, signing off: “Best Regards”.The rift between the two state CMs began when Revanth Reddy, while campaigning in Kerala for the Congress-led UDF earlier this month, launched sharp attacks on Pinarayi Vijayan’s government. He also set Vijayan off by using “Nee po mone Dinesha” (Go away, kid) remark, suggesting Vijayan’s “expiry date” had passed.Vijayan hit back by accusing Telangana of poor governance and citing official data on poverty, literacy and corruption, turning the spar into a wider battle over which state model works better.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. . NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday to present him with a Bastar 2.0 development blueprint, aimed at transformation of the once Naxal-infested region into a hub for infrastructure expansion, innovation-led growth, start-ups and tourism. Bastar was recently declared as free from Left-wing extremism after all CPI(Maoist) leaders of standing were either eliminated or chose to surrender. The region, which had borne the brunt of Naxal violence for decades, depriving the local tribals of benefits of development and welfare schemes, is now the focus of a major development and welfare push. Presenting a forward-looking vision for Bastar’s development, Sai, during discussions with the prime minister, highlighted the region’s growth potential and outlined a transformative approach to accelerate economic progress and improve the quality of life of its people. The chief minister also invited the prime minister to visit Bastar during the monsoon season, for laying foundation stones of several projects and inaugurating key initiatives aimed at ushering in a new era of growth. The projects include the Raoghat–Jagdalpur railway line, expansion of Jagdalpur airport, a super-specialty hospital, a medical college in Dantewada, and the development of ‘education cities’ in Jagargunda and Orchha. The Bastar blueprint, Sai underlined, is built around the core strategy of “saturate, connect, facilitate, empower, and engage”. “This approach aims to ensure rapid and inclusive expansion of basic infrastructure and essential services across the region. A key focus is on integrating remote and previously isolated villages into the mainstream through a robust road network….the plan includes the construction of 228 new roads and 267 bridges,” a Chhattisgarh govt official told TOI.To boost livelihoods, the state government has outlined a focused three-year plan aimed at doubling household incomes. The objective is to raise the monthly earnings of nearly 85% of families from Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000 by 2029, thereby improving overall economic stability in the region. In the tourism sector, key destinations such as Chitrakote and Tirathgarh Waterfalls, along with Kanger Valley National Park, are being developed with enhanced infrastructure and visitor facilities. Adventure tourism projects, including a canopy walk and a glass bridge, are also underway to attract a wider range of tourists.
