To the people of Baramulla, and all the surrounding districts. To the people of Poonch, and the people of Mendhar. We are addressing the people of Rajouri, Jammu, Ladakh, Kargil, Gilgit Baltistan, and the people across the entire state. As you are all aware, it has been nearly a month now that Kashmir (PoJK) has been under such influence and oppression. For demanding their basic rights, the cruelty, injustice, massacre, and military aggression committed against the people here have reached their peak. In this extremely difficult phase, our food supply routes are closed, our medicine routes are closed. Even on the act of breathing, the rulers and forces here are in such a rage, questioning why the people here are even breathing. In this time of hardship, we appeal to all the people, to those across the border, and especially to the people of Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Jammu, the Valley, Ladakh, and Kargil. We have organized a protest on July 5th, and we need the support of all of you. Certainly, you must come out, speak up for our rights, and raise your voice against this cruelty and injustice,” Sardar Aman Khan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.The latest appeal follows weeks of unrest in PoJK, where the JAAC has accused Pakistani authorities of suppressing peaceful protests and denying people their basic rights. The committee has alleged that restrictions on movement, arrests of activists and disruption of essential supplies have worsened the humanitarian situation.On June 30, the JAAC criticised Pakistani authorities after an opposition delegation was reportedly prevented from entering PoJK. It alleged that the move reflected Islamabad’s continued suppression of political dissent and democratic rights.The committee also claimed that access to the region had been restricted and food supplies obstructed, while maintaining that its movement remained peaceful and focused on securing fundamental rights. It said protests would continue until its demands were addressed.Support for the movement has also emerged outside PoJK. On July 2, the National Anti-Terrorism Front India held a protest outside the United Nations office, urging the international community to intervene over the reported humanitarian situation and alleged rights violations in the region.Pakistan has also come under criticism from international rights groups. Amnesty International condemned the authorities’ actions ahead of the regional elections in PoJK and criticised the decision to declare the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee a “proscribed organisation.” It described the move as an attack on freedom of association and peaceful political activism.PoJK activist Amjad Ayub Mirza has also alleged that the situation in the region continues to deteriorate following the arrest of JAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir.”The situation in Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is getting worse by the hour. NEW DELHI: The home ministry on Saturday designated 23 Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir based operatives as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, with the list including the alleged operative behind the reconnaissance of the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya and a close relative of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.The action targets a network of senior Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed functionaries, launching commanders, recruiters, financiers and logistics coordinators accused of facilitating infiltration, terror financing and attacks against India. Six of those designated are Indian nationals who are now based in Pakistan or PoJK. All 23 have been included in the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA, reported news agency PTI.Among the most prominent names is Mohammad Musaddiq, a Jaish-e-Mohammed operative known by several aliases, including Doctor and Abdul Mannan. According to the ministry, he carried out reconnaissance of the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya, the RSS headquarters in Nagpur and the Indian Oil refinery in Panipat. He is also accused of serving as the launching commander for the Lasiyakot sector and facilitating infiltration through tunnels while arranging drone deliveries of arms and ammunition into India.Another key figure is Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, described as a close associate of Jaish chief Maulana Masood Azhar. The ministry said he coordinates infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir, recruits youths through social media, raises funds for terrorism and was involved in planning the April 2022 attack on a police checkpoint near the PDP office in Sunjwan.Mufti Mohammad Asghar Khan, identified as JeM’s Amir and military wing chief in PoJK, has been accused of running terrorist training camps in Muzaffarabad and conspiring in the Nagrota Army camp attack. Hafiz Abdul Shakoor, also linked to JeM and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, allegedly facilitated the infiltration of Pakistani terrorists through the Samba-Kathua sector for the same attack.The ministry also named Abdullah Jihadi, who is accused of managing launching camps in Kupwara and Baramulla, facilitating infiltration into north Kashmir and attempting to incite anti-India sentiment.Among the six Indian nationals on the list is Firdous Ahmad Bhat, who allegedly crossed into Pakistan through the Wagah border in 2018 before joining Lashkar-e-Taiba. Authorities said he now functions as a launching commander, recruits youths in south Kashmir and supplies weapons to overground workers.Haroon Rashid Ganai, Bilal Ahmad Mir, Abid Qayoom Lone, Nazir Ahmed Gujjar, Owais Farooz and Mohammad Shahid Faisal are among the other Indian nationals designated under the UAPA. The ministry accused them of recruiting operatives, planning attacks, arranging arms and narcotics smuggling, facilitating drone-based weapons consignments and coordinating terror modules from across the border.Faisal, now based in Rawalpindi, is alleged to have links with Lashkar-e-Taiba, Al-Qaeda and ISIS. The ministry said he handled the 2012 Bengaluru Lashkar conspiracy case, the 2013 Nanded Lashkar case and acted as an online handler in the 2024 Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, the Mangaluru cooker blast and the Al-Hind ISIS module case while recruiting youths through jihadist propaganda circulated on social media and messaging platforms.The list also includes several senior Lashkar and Jaish leaders. Abdul Rauf, a senior Lashkar leader since 1999, is accused of mobilising funds globally through organisations such as the Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation and Al-Madina Welfare Trust. He has already been designated by the United States as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist.Hafiz Khalid Waleed, identified as Hafiz Saeed’s son-in-law, has also been designated. The ministry accused him of masterminding the 2016 Pampore attack. He has served on Lashkar’s Central Advisory Committee since 2003 and was designated a global terrorist by the United States in 2012.Others named include Ashfaq Ahmed, Maulana Imdad Ullah Makki, Maulana Saifullah Khalid, Mohammad Yaqoob, Maulana Yusuf Taibi, Qari Yaqub Sheikh, Rana Iftikhar and Wasim Noor Jat. Hafiz Abdul Shakoor, also linked to JeM and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, allegedly facilitated the infiltration of Pakistani terrorists through the Samba-Kathua sector for the same attack.The ministry also named Abdullah Jihadi, who is accused of managing launching camps in Kupwara and Baramulla, facilitating infiltration into north Kashmir and attempting to incite anti-India sentiment.Among the six Indian nationals on the list is Firdous Ahmad Bhat, who allegedly crossed into Pakistan through the Wagah border in 2018 before joining Lashkar-e-Taiba. Authorities said he now functions as a launching commander, recruits youths in south Kashmir and supplies weapons to overground workers.Haroon Rashid Ganai, Bilal Ahmad Mir, Abid Qayoom Lone, Nazir Ahmed Gujjar, Owais Farooz and Mohammad Shahid Faisal are among the other Indian nationals designated under the UAPA. The ministry said he handled the 2012 Bengaluru Lashkar conspiracy case, the 2013 Nanded Lashkar case and acted as an online handler in the 2024 Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, the Mangaluru cooker blast and the Al-Hind ISIS module case while recruiting youths through jihadist propaganda circulated on social media and messaging platforms.The list also includes several senior Lashkar and Jaish leaders. Abdul Rauf, a senior Lashkar leader since 1999, is accused of mobilising funds globally through organisations such as the Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation and Al-Madina Welfare Trust. He has already been designated by the United States as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist.Hafiz Khalid Waleed, identified as Hafiz Saeed’s son-in-law, has also been designated. The ministry accused him of masterminding the 2016 Pampore attack. NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled development projects worth around Rs 1.06 lakh crore during his visit to Rajasthan. The projects included the inauguration of the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, the launch of the Modified UDAN scheme, the dedication of India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex to the nation, and the foundation stone and inauguration of several infrastructure projects in Balotra.He also handed over appointment letters to around 54,000 newly recruited Rajasthan government employees. Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi said that the BJP government was committed to completing projects after laying their foundation stones and highlighted the pace of execution.He also thanked people for joining the programme from across Rajasthan and said the large turnout reflected the people’s trust in the government.”I have been informed that today, at 10,000–12,000 locations, lakhs of people have gathered for this programme. Everywhere you look, there are people. Through technology, people from every corner of Rajasthan are connected. India made positive use of its diplomatic power. And only then has India been able to recover from the crisis.”“Will power and efforts of new India of 21st century have prevailed over century’s biggest energy crisis,” he further added.Addressing energy disruptionsOn the energy supply front, he said, “About 60% of our LPG requirements were met through imports, with 90% of that supply coming from Gulf nations, passing through Hormuz, when suddenly, war conditions brought that supply to a near-halt. You can imagine the massive crisis that was looming over our country.”Highlighting the government’s response to the disruption in LPG supplies, he said that refinery operations were quickly reoriented to boost domestic production. He said facilities that were earlier manufacturing other petroleum products were repurposed to produce LPG, while even refineries that had never produced the fuel before were reconfigured for the task.”As soon as the crisis began, we focused on leveraging our refinery capabilities. Refineries that previously produced other products were directed to manufacture LPG, and within just seven days, LPG production increased. Domestic LPG production rose from 35,000 metric tonnes to 54,000 metric tonnes during the crisis. Refineries that had never produced LPG before were reconfigured to do so.”He added that the government simultaneously worked to reduce pressure on LPG demand by expanding access to piped natural gas (PNG).”The government also ensured that the entire burden of cooking gas demand did not fall solely on LPG. A campaign was launched to expand PNG connections. In a very short span of time, India connected over 1.1 million households to PNG.”These measures helped keep cooking gas prices under control despite concerns over a sharp rise.”Given the prevailing circumstances, the price of a domestic gas cylinder could have soared to Rs 2,000, a figure predicted by major market experts. Yet, even now, a domestic LPG cylinder is being provided for less than Rs 950…”The PM also said the long-standing water crisis in the Shekhawati region was nearing resolution and congratulated residents on the development projects. “The wait to resolve the water crisis in the Shekhawati region is also nearing an end. Spread across more than 23,000 square metres, the terminal is designed to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually and is equipped with modern passenger amenities. Inspired by Rajasthan’s royal heritage, it combines traditional architectural elements such as arches and jharokhas with contemporary design.He also launched the Modified UDAN scheme, which has been allocated Rs 28,840 crore over the next 10 years to strengthen regional air connectivity. The scheme includes the development of 100 aerodromes from existing unserved airstrips with an outlay of over Rs 12,000 crore, more than Rs 2,500 crore for operations and maintenance support for regional airports, the construction of 200 modern helipads and viability gap funding of over Rs 10,000 crore for airlines. Developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, the 9 MMTPA refinery-cum-petrochemical complex has been built with an investment of over Rs 79,450 crore.PM Modi said, “From this land, India has taken a major step towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation. Today, a refinery has been dedicated to the country. This refinery will become a source of employment for thousands of people here. I especially congratulate the youth of Rajasthan on this refinery. Today stands as proof that BJP governments do not merely lay foundation stones for projects and then abandon them. Rather, we work day and night to ensure those projects are completed.”The complex integrates refining and petrochemical production, has a petrochemical capacity of 2.4 MMTPA, a Nelson Complexity Index of 17.0 and petrochemical yields exceeding 26%. It is expected to strengthen India’s energy security, enhance petrochemical self-sufficiency, support industrial growth and generate employment in the region. During the programme, Modi also flagged off refinery production tankers from the complex.He also laid the foundation stone for Phase 2 of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project, which will be developed at a cost of over Rs 13,000 crore. The 41-km north-south corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mod will comprise 36 stations connecting major industrial and residential areas across Jaipur.Additionally, he dedicated the Churu-Sadulpur and Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projects, built at a cost of around Rs 900 crore, and inaugurated the four-laning of the NH-125A Jodhpur Ring Road Section-2, developed at a cost of about Rs 740 crore.In the renewable energy sector, PM Modi dedicated SJVN Limited’s 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Energy Project, developed with an investment of about Rs 5,500 crore, and NHPC’s 300 MW Karnisar Bikaner Solar Energy Plant. Developed under the India Semiconductor Mission with an investment of over Rs 7,500 crore, the facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 5 billion semiconductor chips once fully ramped up.The facility currently employs more than 300 professionals and is projected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect high-skilled employment opportunities over the next five years. The recruits include personnel from the Departments of Education, Energy, Home, Panchayati Raj, Transport, Higher Education, Skill Development, Planning, Agriculture, Information Technology and Administrative Reforms.Referring to the projects inaugurated during the visit, the Prime Minister said the government focuses on ensuring timely completion rather than stopping after laying foundation stones.Gujarat visitAfter concluding his Rajasthan visit, the Prime Minister will visit Gujarat, where he is set to inaugurate the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Sanand. Developed under the India Semiconductor Mission with an investment of over Rs 7,500 crore, the facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 5 billion semiconductor chips once fully ramped up.The facility currently employs more than 300 professionals and is projected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect high-skilled employment opportunities over the next five years.
