NEW DELHI: An ambitious campaign that began on Sept 13 will reach its grand finale on Dec 8 at a glittering ‘Ideas for India’ summit, where some of the finest minds in the country — ranging across diverse sectors like business, tech, policy, and academia — will assemble to brainstorm innovations that could transform the nation, and 12 winners whose ideas were chosen after a gruelling selection process will be felicitated. Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be the chief guest and deliver the keynote address. The Times of India launched the Ideas for India initiative as a powerful thought-leadership platform, recognising that achieving the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 requires not just economic momentum, but a fundamental reimagining of solutions. The campaign was conceived with the core belief that answers to India’s greatest challenges lie within its people. The initiative has tapped the country’s innovative energy, drawing thousands of registrations from students, entrepreneurs and change-makers across India. At its heart is a nationwide Innovation Challenge that moves beyond speeches and slogans to focus on actionable blueprints.Participants were invited to submit solutions across three critical pillars – Make in India for the World, Environmental Sustainability, and Health & Social Wellbeing – with a focus on scalability, feasibility and impact. The promise is clear: your idea today can contribute to India’s progress tomorrow, provided it can be executed on the ground and deliver measurable change.Entries were expected to address real-world gaps, from inclusive industrial growth and skilling to clean energy, water security, mental health, digital inclusion and social equity.30 innovators will present ideas, prototypes at National SummitThe Innovation Challenge cast its net wide across emerging and priority sectors such as green and renewable energy, healthcare and health tech, advanced manufacturing, cyber security and digital public infrastructure, agri-tech, urban mobility, water and climate resilience, waste management and circular economy, logistics, and education and skilling. To ensure rigour and transparency, the process was structured as an end-to-end framework. After a national call for entries through a dedicated microsite, TechGig conducted the first-level screening, with EY validating the scoring and shortlisting. A 28-member screening jury of entrepreneurs, CXOs, marketing and tech leaders then helped narrow the list down to 67 submissions, from which 34 finalists emerged.Shortlisted participants were tasked with building first-cut prototypes and received one-on-one mentorship from a panel of five experts in early Dec. Their refined solutions were then presented before a Grand Jury of senior industry leaders and policy voices, split across two groups to evaluate categories such as Economic Resilience, Environment & Sustainability, and Health & Social across tech and non-tech streams. The journey now culminates in a National Summit, where around 30 of the most promising innovators will present their ideas and prototypes to policymakers, experts and industry leaders, and 12 winners will finally be chosen. A dedicated compendium will capture the 30 blueprints that made it to the finals — ideas that not only stood up to rigorous evaluation, but can also serve as potential building blocks for the Viksit Bharat that India envisions in 2047.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos’Maligning Hindu Way Of Life’: PM Modi Calls Out Colonial Mindset Over ‘Hindu Rate Of Growth’ LabelUP CM Yogi Slams Parties ‘Insulting Babasaheb’s Legacy’, Announces Security For Ambedkar Statues’Engaging Atmosphere Reigned’: Shashi Tharoor After State Dinner With Russian President Putin’Sab Jagah Pohchenge’: Yogi Adityanath On What’s Next After Ram Temple, ‘Kashi-Mathura’ Slogan’Black Day’: Owaisi Targets Modi Govt, Questions Acquittals In Babri Masjid Demolition CasePutin Dinner Snub Triggers War of Word: Priyanka Chaturvedi Slams ‘Petty’ Politics, BJP Blasts RahulHow Russia May Open Central Asia For India As West Pushes Harder: Kugelman Explains The Power ShiftAviation Meltdown Escalates As IndiGo Cancels 400 Flights And Government Enforces Fare ControlsUS Singer Calls PM Modi World’s Top Leader, Warns Washington To Recalibrate Its India Strategy FastEx-Pentagon Official Says Asim Munir Must Be Arrested As He Slams US Policy, Calls For India Apology123PhotostoriesThought of the day for your child: “You are capable of amazing things”7 fish that make your aquarium instantly InstagrammableJhol Momo to Paalak Methi Mattar ka Saag: 15 dishes Vladimir Putin was served on his India tripSara Khan marries Krish Pathak in both Hindu and Muslim rituals, drops new photos; says ‘Qubool Hai se Saat Phere tak’Stressed and stiff? 4 yoga moves for instant relief10 reminders every working mom who feels guilty needs to hear todayBigg Boss 19: From making shocking revelations about a luxurious lifestyle to Ekta Kapoor offering her a project; finalist Tanya Mittal’s journey10 tips to keep your baby warm and cozy this winter9 one-pot South Indian vegetarian rice dishes to try’3BHK’ to ‘Aan Paavam Pollathathu’:5 Tamil films of 2025 that won hearts with natural acting and nuanced stories123Hot PicksIndigo Flight DelayPutin India VisitWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingCaeleb Dressel Net WorthDelhi Airport AdvisoryIndigo Flight CancellationCandace OwensAryna Sabalenka Net WorthHow to get danny Phantom in FortniteTravis KelceJohn Cena FinalJEE Advanced Exam DateDDA RecruitmentExam Schedule

New Delhi: Supreme Court Tuesday stayed a Delhi HC order releasing Rashid Khan, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the March 1993 blast in Kolkata that killed 69 and injured more than 100 people just four days after underworld-triggered serial bomb blasts in Mumbai killed 257 and injured over 700 as retaliation for the Babri Masjid demolition in Dec 1992.Arguing West Bengal govt’s appeal against the HC verdict, additional solicitor general S V Raju told a bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Sanjeev Sachdeva that the mastermind of a heinous terrorism-related crime that resulted in a huge loss of lives did not deserve to be released. The bench asked Rashid to file a response to the state’s appeal by July 28, the next date of hearing, and said, “In the meanwhile, the operation of the impugned order shall remain stayed.”Appearing for the convict, senior advocate M R Shamshad said a co-convict, who was also sentenced to life imprisonment, had been granted remission of sentence and released from prison in 2014.Shamshad said Rashid had served 33 years with periodic permission to go to meet his family which he had scrupulously adhered to and reported back in prison. “His conduct in prison has been excellent and now he is suffering from various ailments even though his mental faculties remain intact,” he added. On Shamshad’s argument about a co-convict being released from prison, the bench said there could not be two masterminds.Rashid and others were convicted under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2001. Explosives stored by Rashid, a satta don close to the then governing political party in West Bengal, had burst, gutting two buildings.Delhi HC’s Justice Neena Bansal Krishna in her June 5 judgment allowed the writ petition of Rashid, presently lodged at a correctional home in West Bengal, challenging WB Sentence Review Committee orders rejecting his plea for premature release. The HC had said, “A humane approach ought to be taken, because the most crucial and germane aspect amongst the various theories for punishment which are propounded, is the effect of reformation of the accused as part of retribution.”Get the latest India news and live updates.
