TVK has been chosen as the single largest party by the people. Therefore, he should be allowed to take office. That is the guidance provided by the Constitution. Even when he has sought support, the Governor is not making any decision on that and is giving room for confusion here. This is not acceptable. Furthermore, the Governor cannot demand a list of people supporting TVK. He cannot say, ‘Who is supporting you? Bring 118 and prove it to me, then come for the swearing-in ceremony’,” said Vijay.TVK delivered a major shock to the state’s ‘Dravidian’ parties, effectively ending the three-decade-long dominance of the DMK-AIADMK duopoly. Since Vijay is also expected to vacate one of the two assembly seats he secured, TVK’s effective strength in the assembly will stand at 107. Together with Congress, the alliance’s tally rises to 112 members, just five short of the majority mark.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide.
