NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday met Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi at Sonia’s 10 Janpath residence in the national capital.Two Congress legislators were recently inducted into the Vijay-led council of ministers. With the move, the party became part of the Tamil Nadu government for the first time since losing power in the state in 1967.Vijay is on a three-day visit to the national capital and is expected to attend the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting on Thursday. The visit marks his second trip to New Delhi since assuming office as chief minister in May.After arriving in New Delhi, the chief minister checked into Tamil Nadu House. He is expected to address the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting and present the state’s priorities on economic development and welfare programmes, according to sources.The meeting, chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi, brings together chief ministers and administrators from across the country to discuss development priorities and issues related to cooperative federalism, according to sources.During his visit, Vijay is also expected to meet union home minister Amit Shah.Get the latest India news and live updates.
