NEW DELHI: Mamata Banerjee said the BJP-led Central government would be “removed from power” in the future, days after her party, TMC, suffered a major defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections.During a meeting with party MLAs in Kalighat, the former West Bengal CM said, “BJP will be removed from power in Delhi in the coming days,” according to TMC sources, cited by ANI..The remarks came after BJP secured a decisive victory in the Assembly elections, winning 207 seats and ending the Trinamool Congress’s 15-year rule in the state. The TMC won 80 seats.TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who was also present at the meeting, said the party would continue its political fight against the BJP despite the electoral setback.“Let them do whatever they want…raze down my home, send notice … I won’t bow down over these things. Come what may, my fight will continue against the BJP,” he said.Addressing party legislators, Abhishek Banerjee also took a swipe at chief minister Suvendu Adhikari.“Our state had many chief ministers, but none like the current one. The one who was seen taking money on camera has been made CM,” he said, according to TMC sources.Following the election defeat, the Trinamool Congress moved the Calcutta High Court over alleged incidents of post-poll violence across West Bengal after the BJP’s victory. The mission will carry 19 payloads in all, spanning Indian and international instruments, and its Preliminary Design Review was completed in April 2026. Through this mission, Isro aims to study Venus’ dense atmosphere, volcanic surface, weather systems and mysterious super-rotating clouds. Scientists also hope to investigate whether Venus once possessed conditions suitable for liquid water before evolving into an extreme greenhouse world.On the MoU between Isro and the Norwegian Space Agency, PM Modi said in Norway on Monday, “We are grateful to Norway for supporting the operations of India’s Arctic research station Himadri. The MoU signed between Isro and the Norwegian Space Agency will give a new dimension to our space cooperation. NEW DELHI: India’s peak power demand hit a record 260.5 GW on Tuesday, surpassing the previous high of 257.4 GW recorded a day earlier, as soaring temperatures, heatwave conditions and increased AC usage pushed up consumption. Power ministry officials said the peak demand was recorded at 3.40pm and met without shortages, with total generation at 263 GW. Thermal power contributed 61.5% of the demand met, while solar and wind contributed 22% and 6.7%, respectively. Officials added that the demand during non-solar hours also touched a record 247.2 GW at 10.29pm on Monday. With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a harsh summer, the govt has estimated the peak demand to reach 271 GW. A power ministry official said the system was prepared to meet the requirement and distribution companies had tied up with generation firms and strengthened networks to ensure reliable supply. “For two consecutive days, the peak power demand met in the country broke new records. NEW DELHI: India’s peak power demand hit a record 260.5 GW on Tuesday, surpassing the previous high of 257.4 GW recorded a day earlier, as soaring temperatures, heatwave conditions and increased AC usage pushed up consumption. Power ministry officials said the peak demand was recorded at 3.40pm and met without shortages, with total generation at 263 GW. Thermal power contributed 61.5% of the demand met, while solar and wind contributed 22% and 6.7%, respectively. Officials added that the demand during non-solar hours also touched a record 247.2 GW at 10.29pm on Monday. With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a harsh summer, the govt has estimated the peak demand to reach 271 GW. A power ministry official said the system was prepared to meet the requirement and distribution companies had tied up with generation firms and strengthened networks to ensure reliable supply. “For two consecutive days, the peak power demand met in the country broke new records.
