Neelam Kothari Morning Routine: Neelam Kothari shares her healthy morning routine at 56: Protein-rich meal, detox shots, and a skincare-friendly drink that she drinks every morning’
Neelam Kothari has spent decades in the public eye, spotted in 1980s and ’90s Hindi cinema in several films, including roles in Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Ilzaam, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and more recently as one of the stars of Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. But in the last couple of years, she’s been opening up her life in a different way through her own YouTube channel, where she takes fans inside her home and her jewellery business, through which she is taking her family legacy forward and the small daily rituals that keep her feeling good.Kothari has settled into her daily format, sharing everything from home tours to her relationship with husband Samir Soni. In one of her recent videos, the 56-year-old walked viewers through her entire morning, from the moment she wakes up to her first proper meal of the day, and it turned out to be less about strict discipline and more about a handful of simple, consistent habits and some magical healthy drinks.
She begins her day with a saffron and lemon drink
Kothari’s day begins around 8:30 am with a warm glass of water mixed with a pinch of salt, the juice of half a lemon, and a few strands of saffron; she credits this drink as a secret to her skin looking good. “I drink this every morning,” she said in the vlog, describing it as the very first thing that goes into her body each day, well before tea, coffee, or breakfast even enter the picture.
Amla shots are the next healthy thing to detox and recharge for the day
Right after her warm water, Kothari moves on to a small shot of fresh amla, or Indian gooseberry, juice squeezed from two amlas rather than poured from a bottle. She’s specific about why she avoids the packaged version, as bottled juices tend to carry preservatives, which defeats the purpose of a detox drink. Speaking about the shot’s benefits, she said, “Even though it tastes bitter and sour, it is amazing for detoxification,” and mentioned it as a strong natural source of Vitamin C.
Her first meal is full of protein
Around 10 am, breakfast finally arrives, and she keeps it simple, as an omelette made with two egg whites and a single yolk. Kothari described it as her first real meal of the day, saying it works well for her because it’s protein-rich and easy on the stomach. “I try to make sure this is my first meal of the day,” she said, adding, “it is not only rich in protein but also easy to digest.”
