The ‘Mirzapur’ universe is making its way to the big screen. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is set to hit theatres on September 4, bringing the show’s beloved characters back together for the first time on the big screen. Leading the charge are Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, reprising the roles that turned Mirzapur into one of India’s most-watched crime dramas.

As reported in News18, this won’t be a quick theatre run, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ clocks in at a hefty 197.19 minutes, or roughly 3 hours and 17 minutes. The film received its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 29, per details listed on the board’s website. The application was filed by Excel Entertainment and cleared by the CBFC’s Mumbai regional office.

According to the official synopsis listed on the CBFC website, “The battle for Mirzapur’sMirzapur’s throne escalates as old enemies resurface and new threats emerge. Blood debts must be paid while power-hungry contenders fight to control the city’s violent underworld”.
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ brings back the original cast
Unsurprisingly, the comeback of the show’s core ensemble has fans most excited. Ali Fazal returns as Guddu Pandit, Pankaj Tripathi is back in his career-defining role as Kaleen Bhaiya, and Divyenndu reprises Munna Tripathi. The rest of the original lineup is intact too: Abhishek Banerjee as Compounder, Harshita Gaur as Dimpy Pandit, Shriya Pilgaonkar as Sweety Gupta, Shweta Tripathi as Golu Gupta, and Rasika Dugal as Bina Tripathi all return to their roles. Mohit Mallik, Sonal Chauhan, and Ravi Kishan round out the ensemble.
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has one key casting change
There’s one notable shake-up in the casting, though, Jitendra Kumar has stepped into the role of Bablu Pandit for the film, taking over from Vikrant Massey, who originated the character back in Season 1.This movie continues the story of a franchise that got its start on Amazon Prime Video in 2018, when Season 1 debuted on November 16 and turned into an instant hit. The momentum carried into ‘Mirzapur 2’ in 2020, with a third season following in 2024.
