LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed urgent medical assistance for a seven-month-old infant brought to Janata Darshan by a woman from Lucknow seeking help for her child’s heart ailment. The mother, a resident of Rajendra Nagar in Aishbagh, told the chief minister that she lived in a rented house and lacked the financial means to secure treatment for the baby.According to the release, the chief minister immediately instructed officials to arrange an ambulance and transfer the child to King George’s Medical University (KGMU). Acting on his orders, the KGMU Vice Chancellor ensured the child received prompt treatment upon arrival.More than 60 people from various districts of Uttar Pradesh attended Monday’s Janata Darshan, presenting a range of grievances to the Chief Minister.These include land disputes, financial assistance to the police, and electricity-related issues; the complaints covered multiple departments. Thank you govt for steps taken today to resolve the Ladakh issue, now please pay attention to accountability in education,” Wangchuk wrote.Over a month after talks between Ladakh groups and a Union home ministry (MHA) sub-committee in Delhi, informal parleys were scheduled to held on Friday in Leh with central officials.Several rounds of talks have been held with the Centre on Ladakh since 2023. The process stopped after four people were killed and over 80 injured on Sept 24, 2025, in alleged police firing on protesters in Leh demanding statehood. LAB’s Wangchuk was accused of inciting the protesters, arrested, charged under NSA and kept in Jodhpur jail. Govt fixing polls with EC’s help: INDIA bloc to CJI NEW DELHI: Claiming that democracy is in “jeopardy” because the BJP govt is “manipulating” elections with the help of a “biased” Election Commission, the joint opposition has urged CJI Surya Kant to suspend SIR of electoral rolls, arguing it should be done five years before an assembly election.The opposition also raised questions about EVMs and sought serious consideration to restore ballot papers, while alleging that polls in Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana were manipulated.
