The students, who have been agitating for 16 days, have announced a ‘Vidhan Sabha March’ despite the state government saying it has accepted 98 per cent of their demands.March to begin at 10:30 amThe march is scheduled to begin between 10:30 and 11 am, with students gathering at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium from 9 am, according to student leader Ravindra Paswan. Since we students are leading this movement, we must demonstrate that we are disciplined and educated. In accordance with the linguistic and cultural rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India, and with a view to preserving the Cultural identity of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly unanimously resolves that “Tamil Thai Vazhthu” shall be mandatorily sung first, before the commencement of programmes held by all Educational Institutions, Universities, Government Offices, Public Sector Undertakings and other Public Institutions in Tamil Nadu,” the resolution said.The resolution also notes that Tamil is one of the world’s oldest classical languages and describes Tamil civilisation as one of the world’s oldest cultural traditions.Tamil Nadu had first directed that Tamil Thai Vazhthu be sung at the beginning of official functions through a government order issued on November 23, 1970.The state government formally accorded the song the status of the state song on December 12, 2021, making its rendition mandatory at official programmes and institutions across the state.Tamil Thai Vazhthu is an invocation to Mother Tamil from Manonmaniam, a play written by Manonmaniam Sundaranar in 1891.Get the latest India News and Live updates. NEW DELHI: A delegation of eight MPs from Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.Ahead of the meeting, the Congress has urged its alliance partner to convey the INDIA bloc’s opposition to linking the implementation of women’s reservation with the proposed delimitation exercise.AICC secretary Sachin Sawant urged the NCP (SP) delegation to press Modi for the immediate implementation of the Women’s Reservation Act, passed in 2023, without waiting for delimitation.”It is learnt that the MPs of the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday regarding issues concerning Maharashtra.
