A video circulating widely on social media shows a heated argument between moviegoers and theatre staff over the price of ‘Jana Nayagan’ tickets. In the clip, angry fans are disputing with theatre management in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. A fan asked why tickets were allegedly being sold for Rs 300 when they believed the permitted rate was much lower. But the theatre management refused the claim and blamed fans for selling tickets at a higher price. “Who has allowed you to sell tickets at Rs 300?” asked a man from the theatre management. “Call up the CM’s office and ask if you can sell it for Rs 300.” Another, meanwhile, keeps asking management about the pricing, while theatre staff insist that the rates were fixed according to instructions received from distributors. Since then, the exchange has gone viral with many users asking whether the theatre had flouted the approved pricing norms.
