JAMMU: A joint team of security forces busted a terrorist hideout in a remote, forested area in J&K’s Rajouri district and seized an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), officials said Thursday.The troops detected the hideout in Badi Behak, Thanamandi, during a cordon-and-search operation and found the explosive. Amit Shah NEW DELHI: Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah Tuesday directed Nafed and National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation to procure “every single grain” of pulses and oilseeds directly from farmers “with complete transparency, eliminating the entire network of middlemen,” and ensure that income reaches farmers’ bank accounts within 48 hours.”This will ensure fair and remunerative prices for farmers, automatically increase the area under pulse cultivation, and make the country self-reliant in pulses,” he said while addressing the launch of four Nafed initiatives, including a digital auctioning platform.Setting a two-year deadline, Shah said it will be ensured that all farmers are able to sell pulses directly to these two organisations within the next two years and receive payment directly into their bank accounts.Nafed launched including its auction portal ‘NAFEX.in’ to ensure enhanced transparency, efficiency and ease of operations in the auction process. The other three include Nafed-KALYAN scholarship for children of farmers, DRISHTI portal for inventory management of pulses and oilseeds, and ERP portal for strengthening enterprise resource planning.The Union minister said Nafed has decided to earmark 1% of its profits for scholarships for higher education and career development of children from farmer families. “This…will help address the difficulties faced by farmers’ children in pursuing higher education…” he said. New Delhi: Eight months after his arrest on the charge of conspiracy in the case related to the unnatural death of Assam’s iconic singer, Zubeen Garg, in Singapore, accused Shyamkanu Mahanta’s plea seeking bail was entertained Tuesday by Supreme Court, which sought the state govt’s response, reports Dhananjay Mahapatra.Mahanta, in his petition, gave a detailed account of how Garg drank continuously in Singapore even prior to the unfortunate yacht trip despite strict instructions not to ingest alcohol. Senior advocate Siddharth Dave, advocating bail for Mahanta, told a bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi that the accused was not even at the site of Garg’s drowning and yet had been named an accused. New Delhi: Noting that they are a flight risk, the Delhi HC has stayed a trial court order that allowed two Chinese nationals to visit their country.Both are facing prosecution in an alleged Rs 20,000 crore money laundering case linked with Vivo Mobile and were named by the ED in its chargesheet.The agency challenged the trial court’s June 17 order permitting the two accused to travel to China and sought an interim stay. Justice Tejas Karia, after hearing the submissions, also sought the stand of the two accused. HC will hear the matter next on July 2.HC noted that the accused are Chinese nationals facing allegations under Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Money Laundering Act. “Having regard to the nature of the allegations, the foreign nationality, and the absence of an extradition treaty or arrangement between India and the People’s Republic of China, the apprehension that he may not return to India cannot be said to be unfounded,” Justice Karia observed.Guangwen Kuang, an accused, had sought permission to travel abroad.
