Indian-origin Rep Thanedar tells ‘racist’ Brandon Gill what the Internet has been constantly reminding him. ‘You married an Indian American’
Congressman Brandon Gill is known for his statements against Muslims and H-1B visa holders. Every time Gill slams the Indian people living in the US, the Internet reminds him that he married an Indian-American, Danielle D’Souza Gill, the daughter of MAGA commentator Dinesh D’Souza. This time, Indian-origin Rep Shri Thandar reminded Gill of this as Gill shared a quote that he said recently. “Calling us racist doesn’t work anymore. The left has one debate tactic: call you a racist and pray you shut up. I never will,” Gill said.Thanedar replied to Gill’s quote and added that nobody is calling Brandon Gill a racist to shut him up. People call him racist because he called Indian Americans as “7-Eleven workers”. Thanedar said. “But the fact that you married an Indian American shows that you’re just a grifter pandering to a racist base. How pathetic it must be to be that cheap,” Thanedar said and shared the screenshot of the social media post where Gill mentioned the ‘7-11 thing’7-Eleven is an American convenience store chain headquartered in Irving, Texas. A few months ago, Gill said it is idiotic that America is hiring 7-Eleven workers from India or from some other countries — because these are not specialty occupations or skilled positions. His video was, in fact, a reaction to a YouTuber’s video who showed an Indian person working in a 7-11 store in Texas.
Reactions to Thanedar picking a fight with Gill
“He’s not calling Indians 7-11 workers. He’s calling 7-11 workers 7-11 workers. We have literally given H1-B visas to 7-11 workers. That is what he is referring to. Obviously,” one user wrote. Many X users commented that Thanedar did not understand Brandon’s English and made a mistake, as Brandon did not call Indian-Americans 7-11 workers but he called out that 7-11 was hiring Indians and not Americans.
