Tejashwi accused the two Union ministers of acting on the “instructions” of RSS. NEW DELHI: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday took a jibe at the BJP and RSS, saying, “guḍ khaye, gulgule se parhez”, amid the spat between NDA allies Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi over reservation.The leader of opposition in Bihar assembly also accused the two Union ministers of acting on the “instructions” of the RSS and alleged that the BJP-RSS was “anti-reservation”.He also challenged Chirag and Manjhi to resign from their posts and contest elections from unreserved seats if they opposed reservation.Taking a dig at the two leaders on X, Tejashwi said, “Guḍ khaye, gulgule se parhez!” He alleged that Chirag and Manjhi were speaking in different voices on the issue of sub-categorisation of SC/ST reservations while allegedly acting on the directions of the RSS.“Two Union Ministers, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi and Chirag Paswan, are speaking in opposite directions on the instructions of RSS, diverting attention from the original objective of BJP-RSS to end reservations, and want to gauge the sentiments of reservation supporters,” he said.He alleged that both ministers, who were elected from reserved constituencies, were benefiting from reservation while being part of the BJP-led NDA.“First and foremost, these ministers, elected from reserved quotas, are sitting in the lap of the Constitution and reservation opponents, enjoying the peak pleasures of power,” Tejashwi said.“If these two have a deep hatred for reservations, let them contest elections from unreserved seats and see their – eyes will open,” he added.Tejashwi also questioned the position of NDA allies in Bihar, including the parties led by Nitish Kumar, Upendra Kushwaha, Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, on the 65% reservation quota introduced by the state government.“If these parties are pro-reservation, then why don’t they get the increased 65% reservation limit in Bihar, raised in our government, included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution?” he asked.Chirag-Manjhi lock horns over quota within quotaTejashwi’s remarks came a day after differences within the NDA over sub-categorisation of SC/ST reservations became public, with Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi taking opposing positions.The row began after Manjhi and his son, Bihar minister Santosh Kumar Suman, supported the idea of sub-categorisation to ensure that the most deprived Dalit communities receive a greater share of reservation benefits.Chirag, who heads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), strongly opposed any move to review reservation and demanded that Manjhi and his son resign if they supported such a measure.“The constitutional provision of SC/ST reservation is based on social discrimination and not economic status. If they want to change the Constitution, then debate the issue in Parliament. Those who talk or think about reviewing reservation should first resign, as they actually want to completely end it and reduce its scope,” Chirag said.He also asserted that reservation was in place in the past, remains in place today and would continue in the future.Responding to Chirag’s demand, Suman said he was ready to resign, but challenged Chirag to take the first step.“As far as resignations go, we are ready. My younger brother’s party is the bigger one; they have more numbers than us and are politically third-generation too, so let them take the lead. Let him step forward by resigning and we are prepared to resign alongside him,” Suman said.Tejashwi invokes Bhagwat’s 2015 remarkTejashwi also targeted RSS chief over his earlier remarks on reviewing reservation, saying, “Mohan Bhagwat had also spoken earlier about reviewing reservations, and Bihar grabbed him by the ear, kaan pakad kar achhe se uthak-baithak karwa di thi. Ab phir karenge toh Bihari log RSS/BJP ka murga bana dega.”He was referring to Bhagwat’s 2015 call for a review of the reservation policy, which became a major political issue during the Bihar assembly election that year.Tejashwi said ending reservation was “a remote possibility” and accused the BJP of testing public sentiment on the issue. “None can put an end to reservation. Tejashwi accused the two Union ministers of acting on the “instructions” of RSS. NEW DELHI: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday took a jibe at the BJP and RSS, saying, “guḍ khaye, gulgule se parhez”, amid the spat between NDA allies Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi over reservation.The leader of opposition in Bihar assembly also accused the two Union ministers of acting on the “instructions” of the RSS and alleged that the BJP-RSS was “anti-reservation”.He also challenged Chirag and Manjhi to resign from their posts and contest elections from unreserved seats if they opposed reservation.Taking a dig at the two leaders on X, Tejashwi said, “Guḍ khaye, gulgule se parhez!” He alleged that Chirag and Manjhi were speaking in different voices on the issue of sub-categorisation of SC/ST reservations while allegedly acting on the directions of the RSS.“Two Union Ministers, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi and Chirag Paswan, are speaking in opposite directions on the instructions of RSS, diverting attention from the original objective of BJP-RSS to end reservations, and want to gauge the sentiments of reservation supporters,” he said.He alleged that both ministers, who were elected from reserved constituencies, were benefiting from reservation while being part of the BJP-led NDA.“First and foremost, these ministers, elected from reserved quotas, are sitting in the lap of the Constitution and reservation opponents, enjoying the peak pleasures of power,” Tejashwi said.“If these two have a deep hatred for reservations, let them contest elections from unreserved seats and see their – eyes will open,” he added.Tejashwi also questioned the position of NDA allies in Bihar, including the parties led by Nitish Kumar, Upendra Kushwaha, Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, on the 65% reservation quota introduced by the state government.“If these parties are pro-reservation, then why don’t they get the increased 65% reservation limit in Bihar, raised in our government, included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution?” he asked.Chirag-Manjhi lock horns over quota within quotaTejashwi’s remarks came a day after differences within the NDA over sub-categorisation of SC/ST reservations became public, with Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi taking opposing positions.The row began after Manjhi and his son, Bihar minister Santosh Kumar Suman, supported the idea of sub-categorisation to ensure that the most deprived Dalit communities receive a greater share of reservation benefits.Chirag, who heads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), strongly opposed any move to review reservation and demanded that Manjhi and his son resign if they supported such a measure.“The constitutional provision of SC/ST reservation is based on social discrimination and not economic status. If they want to change the Constitution, then debate the issue in Parliament. Those who talk or think about reviewing reservation should first resign, as they actually want to completely end it and reduce its scope,” Chirag said.He also asserted that reservation was in place in the past, remains in place today and would continue in the future.Responding to Chirag’s demand, Suman said he was ready to resign, but challenged Chirag to take the first step.“As far as resignations go, we are ready. My younger brother’s party is the bigger one; they have more numbers than us and are politically third-generation too, so let them take the lead. Let him step forward by resigning and we are prepared to resign alongside him,” Suman said.Tejashwi invokes Bhagwat’s 2015 remarkTejashwi also targeted RSS chief over his earlier remarks on reviewing reservation, saying, “Mohan Bhagwat had also spoken earlier about reviewing reservations, and Bihar grabbed him by the ear, kaan pakad kar achhe se uthak-baithak karwa di thi. Ab phir karenge toh Bihari log RSS/BJP ka murga bana dega.”He was referring to Bhagwat’s 2015 call for a review of the reservation policy, which became a major political issue during the Bihar assembly election that year.Tejashwi said ending reservation was “a remote possibility” and accused the BJP of testing public sentiment on the issue. “None can put an end to reservation. The previous government showed disrespect to the High Court; judges were repeatedly insulted… now, such things will not be tolerated,” Paul said.FIR over alleged violation of court orderBanerjee and organisers of the West Bengal Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (WBTMCP) programme have been booked by Hastings Police over the alleged violation of a Calcutta High Court order during the organisation’s foundation day programme at Cathedral Road on August 28.According to police, the case was registered at Hastings Police Station on August 28 based on a written complaint submitted by Sub-Inspector Apu Baidya.The FIR includes Sections 61(2), 223, 125(a), 132 and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to allegations including criminal conspiracy, disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant, acts endangering life or personal safety, assault or criminal force against public servants, and negligent conduct with respect to public ways.Police alleged that Banerjee and the organisers violated an order passed by the Calcutta High Court in connection with WPA No. 21728 of 2026.According to the complaint, the programme was scheduled to be held from 12 noon to 3 pm under the permission and directions referred to in the complaint. Police alleged that the organisers continued the programme beyond the permitted time.Police allege barricades were breachedThe complaint alleged that Banerjee and the organisers provoked supporters during the programme, following which the crowd pushed aside barricades put up by police.Supporters allegedly jostled with police personnel deployed at the venue, creating a chaotic situation, according to the police account. The gathering also allegedly obstructed vehicular movement on one flank of Cathedral Road.The Calcutta High Court had imposed conditions for the programme, with Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya directing on Tuesday that efforts be made to keep attendance within 1,500.The court had also directed police to ensure that law and order was maintained and that vehicular movement on one flank of the road was not affected.Indranil Khan also attacks MamataWest Bengal minister Indranil Khan also criticised Banerjee, alleging that she had repeatedly disrespected constitutional institutions and the judiciary.”Mamata Banerjee never respected the country’s laws or its Constitution. Akhilesh Yadav targets CM Yogi over Ankit Balyan murder NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday took a swipe at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the fatal shooting of singer Ankit Balyan, stating that the gang allegedly behind the murder has a name that bears a “striking resemblance” to a “prominent figure” in the state.”The bullets didn’t just strike an innocent youth from our state; they also hit the law and order in the Kotwali area of UP,” Akhilesh Yadav wrote in Hindi on X, referring to the location of the murder.”The chief minister kept claiming that mafia and criminals have left Uttar Pradesh; but here, the opposite has happened—gangsters and thugs from other states have come to UP, firing dozens of rounds and committing murders,” he added.The SP supremo was referring to speculation that the Gogi gang, which operates primarily across Delhi and Haryana, was behind Ankit Balyan’s murder.”Their gang’s name also bears a striking resemblance to that of some prominent figure in UP. Akhilesh Yadav targets CM Yogi over Ankit Balyan murder NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday took a swipe at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the fatal shooting of singer Ankit Balyan, stating that the gang allegedly behind the murder has a name that bears a “striking resemblance” to a “prominent figure” in the state.”The bullets didn’t just strike an innocent youth from our state; they also hit the law and order in the Kotwali area of UP,” Akhilesh Yadav wrote in Hindi on X, referring to the location of the murder.”The chief minister kept claiming that mafia and criminals have left Uttar Pradesh; but here, the opposite has happened—gangsters and thugs from other states have come to UP, firing dozens of rounds and committing murders,” he added.The SP supremo was referring to speculation that the Gogi gang, which operates primarily across Delhi and Haryana, was behind Ankit Balyan’s murder.”Their gang’s name also bears a striking resemblance to that of some prominent figure in UP. What is this connection called? The killers are brazen and their morale is sky-high because they feel a sense of belonging to the corrupt rule of the UP BJP government, which shields those of its own kind in power and corrupts the police through fake encounters,” Akhilesh Yadav stated.The former chief minister’s post was a direct attack on Yogi Adityanath’s projection as a leader tough on law and order. The ruling BJP will seek a third consecutive term when Uttar Pradesh goes to polls early next year.Ankit Balyan, a 32-year-old singer and YouTuber from Haryana, was shot dead by four armed assailants outside a gym in Shamli’s Kotwali area on August 26.
