‘I was paid millions for those roles’: Kangana Ranaut hits back at trolls sharing film clips
NEW DELHI: Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has hit back at social media users sharing clips from her films and public appearances to criticise her recent remarks on protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led agitation.In an Instagram story on Friday, Ranaut argued that clips showing her playing film characters or attending professionally organised events should not be used to suggest that similar behaviour was appropriate in everyday settings.“You want to use my movie character clips I get paid millions to play, high-profile show business events where I am surrounded by my own entourage and event planners, security forces, you want to use these to convince vulnerable teenagers that she can do the same on the road or in school functions or in dingy clubs? Is it the same thing,” she wrote.

“Don’t mislead the youth; it’s not the same thing. Today you mislead other children; tomorrow it will be yours,” she added.
Ranaut’s remarks on CJP protest
Ranaut’s response comes amid criticism of her comments on videos emerging from the CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar, news agency PTI reported.In an earlier Instagram post, the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi had described videos from the agitation as a display of “filth, garbage and ugliness” and said the reels were “puke-inducing”.“So much ugliness in one place, these reels from GenZ protests are puke-inducing, the way they speak and the kind of language they are using, never in my life I have seen everything in each and every frame so jarring and so crass all at once, ewwww who is birthing and raising them?” she had said.Her remarks triggered criticism online, with users sharing clips from her films and other appearances in response.
CJP spokesperson hits back at Ranaut
The exchange also comes after CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das responded to Ranaut’s remarks about him, after she described him as a “28-year-old useless and unemployed” in an Instagram story.Das said Ranaut had received incorrect information about his age and professional background. He said he was 27, not 28, and clarified that he was a journalist rather than an active student.“I am a journalist, and I have never claimed to be an active student. I am a student of life. She should also strive to be one,” Das said.Das also addressed the use of derogatory language by some protesters during the agitation.He said individuals who believed they had been defamed could pursue civil or criminal defamation proceedings, but opposed the use of criminal justice machinery against protesters merely for objectionable language.He urged young people to exercise restraint in their choice of words while maintaining that objectionable remarks alone should not lead to criminal action.The online exchange comes amid continuing political and social-media debate over the conduct of protesters and the response to the CJP-led agitation.(With agency inputs)
