‘I don’t feel the need for an organisation’: Parvathy Thiruvothu says she will not return to ‘AMMA’
Parvathy Thiruvothu has made it clear that she has no plans to return to the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). The actress said she does not currently see a need to be part of the organisation. She also questioned the criticism directed at its new governing committee.In an interview with Asianet News, Parvathy Thiruvothu discussed her views on ‘AMMA’ and the changes within the organisation. She said the association has not given her the sense of safety and equal treatment she expects from such a platform.

According to Parvathy Thiruvothu, ‘AMMA’ no longer commands the same level of seriousness among people. She also questioned the expectations attached to the organisation over the years.“AMMA is an organisation that I don’t think people take seriously anymore. There are certain frameworks that we have created. We have attached a lot of value to them. A big family, a Big Brother who protects everyone, and so on. It has already been proven that they are none of these. People who have been sitting in those chairs for 25 years will naturally have that experience. What is the logic in giving someone new six months and then saying that they have no ability?” Parvathy asked.The actor’s response comes amid scrutiny of the current leadership. An ad-hoc committee headed by Ramesh Pisharody currently leads AMMA, as reported by The Hindu.
Actress says she will not return
Parvathy Thiruvothu also explained why she is not interested in rejoining the association. She said her priorities have changed and that she wants to concentrate on her work.“I don’t feel that it is a place that offers support, safety and respect to everyone. I feel very safe even without an organisation. So, I don’t feel the need for an organisation at this point,” Parvathy Thiruvothu said.

The actress also addressed the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) and its earlier attempts to initiate discussions with ‘AMMA’. She said she had remained open to conversations aimed at improving the situation.However, Parvathy Thiruvothu said those proposals were not given enough importance in the past. She now feels that she has moved beyond that phase.“WCC and I personally have always said that if they are willing to have a discussion to improve things, we are always ready for it. But they had never taken that suggestion seriously. Now, I am no longer interested in it. I want to work now,” she said.On the work front, one of Parvathy Thiruvothu’s upcoming films is the cop drama ‘Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar’.Meanwhile, Parvathy was last seen in the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘I, Nobody’ which received mixed reviews.
