Engine fire scare on Air India Bengaluru-Delhi flight; all onboard safe

NEW DELHI: Pilots operating Air India’s Bengaluru-Delhi flight on Thursday night declared a full emergency after getting engine fire warning in the flight deck. The aircraft landed safely at IGI Airport’s runway 29R at 9.30 pm, where operations were suspended for a while. The airport’s follow me and other emergency vehicles sent to the runway did not spot any fire. Later the aircraft was towed from the runway and passengers were disembarked.“None of the about 180 people on board are injured,” said sources.In a prelim statement, AI said: “We are aware of an incident involving flight AI2802 operating from Bengaluru to Delhi on 21 May 2026. The aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew are safe. We are currently gathering additional information and are working closely with the relevant authorities. Further updates will be shared as more details become available.”
