‘Dhurandhar’ actor Gaurav Gera defends Ranveer Singh amidst rumours of five vanity vans on the set as Farah Khan says give him more: ‘I didn’t see’
Amidst the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Ranveer Singh recently found himself at the centre of discussions over reports claiming he demanded multiple vanity vans on the sets of the Aditya Dhar directorial. However, his co-star Gaurav Gera has now dismissed the rumours while sharing his experience of working with the actor.Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan recently visited Gaurav’s Mumbai home along with her cook Dilip for one of her vlogs. During the interaction, Gaurav opened up about his acting journey, comedy career, his role in ‘Dhurandhar’, and his equation with Ranveer Singh. During the chat, Farah brought up a funny behind-the-scenes moment from the film involving Ranveer. Recalling the incident, Gaurav shared that Ranveer playfully mimicked his famous ‘Chutki’ character during a script-reading session.“We were sitting for Dhurandhar’s reading, it went on for a long time. In the middle, Ranveer took a break to go to the loo. I had my beard at that time. He followed me and teased in that voice saying, ‘Chutki, washroom jaayegi?’ He is super fun, quite a brat. He is wonderful.”Farah then jokingly commented on the actor’s reported vanity van demands and said, “What a talent. 5 van aur dedo usko, Dhurandhar ke baad (give him 5 more vanity vans after Dhurandhar).”Gaurav, however, immediately dismissed the speculation and clarified, “I didn’t see these many vans.” Farah laughed and replied, “Give it to him if he wants it.”The rumours around Ranveer allegedly asking for three vanity vans during shoots had surfaced last year, with some fans pointing to Dhurandhar credits as proof. However, the actor’s team had denied those claims at the time. The conversation also touched upon Bollywood’s growing entourage culture. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta had previously spoken about the issue during a podcast with Cyrus Broacha. He said, “I know certain actors who have six makeup vans. It’s mandatory. The first van is his personal space. This is real; I’m very serious. Wahan saab nanga baithte hain (Sir sits naked in that van). Then, next to that is saab’s other van, wahan pe saab makeup and hair karte hain (There, sir has his makeup and hair done). Uske baaju mein is the van jahan saab meetings karte hain (In the van next to that, sir has his meetings). Hear me out. There’s a fourth van, which has his gym. Wahan saab workout karte hain (Sir works out there). I said fine. You have to keep one thing in mind; workout van means he’ll bring his trainer, his assistant, the driver of the van, and the maintainance man of the van. That’s six people for one van. Then, makeup and hair and the stylists have their own assistants.”Apart from the candid conversation, Farah also received a tour of Gaurav’s elegant home, which featured a minimalistic white aesthetic, neutral interiors and indoor plants. The trio later headed to the kitchen to prepare bhindi fry and bharva aloo-baingan together.Towards the end of the vlog, Farah amusingly revealed that her cook Dilip initially did not know much about cooking, so she would send him to the homes of celebrities like Boney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor to observe and learn recipes.
