Delhi weather disrupts air traffic: 13 flights go around, 11 diverted to other airports
NEW DELHI: Severe weather conditions disrupted flight operations at Delhi airport on Thursday, forcing 13 incoming flights to go around before attempting to land. Of the 13 flights, 11 were diverted to nearby airports due to adverse weather conditions, while two later landed safely in the national capital. The disruption came as Delhi witnessed a sudden change in weather on Thursday. The city received rainfall, bringing relief from the prevailing warm and humid conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Friday, forecasting light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph. The weather department has predicted similar conditions on Saturday as well, although no alert has been issued for the day so far. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius over the next few days. The Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) has forecast that Delhi’s air quality will remain in the “moderate” category over the coming days.(With Agency Inputs)
