CM Vijay and Sangeetha divorce case postponed again, next hearing on August 7

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and his estranged wife Sankgeetha Sornalingam’s divorce case has been postponed after the matter came up for hearing before the Chengalpattu Family Court on Monday.According to an IANS report, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha appeared before the court. Their legal representatives attended the hearing on their behalf and informed the court about the situation. As a result, the proceedings could not move forward as expected.

Next hearing fixed for August

As both the parties were absent, the judge decided to adjourn the matter. The court has now posted the case for further hearing on August 7.This is not the first time the case has been delayed. The matter has witnessed multiple adjournments over the past few months. During earlier hearings as well, both Vijay and Sangeetha were absent, with their lawyers representing them before the court.

Video conference request reportedly made

According to reports, requests were made seeking permission for the couple to participate in the proceedings through video conferencing. The request reportedly mentioned security concerns and practical difficulties in attending court physically.The court had previously postponed the matter to June 15 after hearing submissions from both sides. However, with neither party appearing on Monday, the case has now been delayed further.Sangeetha filed the divorce petition in December 2025 before the Chengalpattu Family Court. In the petition, she sought dissolution of the marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. She also requested alimony and permission to continue living in the family’s residence in Neelankarai, Chennai.
