Christopher McDonald and Geena Davis were once engaged to be married; however, their relationship made headlines after Davis left him for Jeff Goldblum. In a recent appearance, the ‘Gilmore Girls’ star opened up about the split, how life has been for him, and everything he has gone through since then.
Christopher McDonald shares he is on good terms with Geena Davis after the split
While talking to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the actor opened up about the split that happened on the sets of the film ‘Transylvania 6-5000.’He shared, “The inside story is Geena Davis and I were engaged to be married for about five weeks, and she fell in love with Jeff Goldblum doing her first movie over there in Europe. And I don’t blame him. She’s stunningly beautiful and everything like that, but you know what happens on sets? Things happen, but I was broken.” He shared that he had three more weeks before he was set to join the film and Davis on set; however, he got the ‘news’ from his co-star Ed Begley, who “did him a solid.”Even though the two separated on such a note, they have managed to overcome their differences and are now on good terms. The two also co-starred in ‘Thelma & Louise,’ which was released in 1991. On set during the film when they first met, they “hugged it out.”Sharing more details about their meetup, McDonald commented, “We had a really lovely afternoon, and then we did what I think is probably the most ironic thing in the world: Let’s do wedding pictures and put them around the house for the set decorators. We did all that; it turned out great, and we’re dear friends now.”On the relationship front, McDonald married Lupe Gidley in 1992, and they had four children. He later married Emilie Livingston in 2014 and had two children. As for Davis, she married Jeff in 1987; however, the two divorced in 1990. She was then married to filmmaker Renny Harlin from 1993 to 1998. Later on, she married plastic surgeon Reza Jarrahy from 2001 to 2021. The two have three children.
