CBSE receives over 1.6 lakh re-evaluation requests as post-result verification process concludes

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that more than 1.6 lakh students successfully submitted applications through its verification and re-evaluation portal during the post-result grievance redressal process, marking the conclusion of a phase that had attracted significant public attention following concerns over the board’s new digital evaluation system.According to the board, the application window for verification of issues and re-evaluation remained operational from June 2 to June 7, 2026, under the supervision of government technical agencies and teams from the IITs. During this period, candidates submitted requests relating to more than 3.8 lakh answer books.The update comes weeks after the rollout of CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for Class 12 examinations triggered complaints regarding scanned answer books, portal accessibility and evaluation-related discrepancies. The board had subsequently enlisted technical experts from government agencies and IITs to strengthen its digital infrastructure before launching the verification and re-evaluation services.Portal handled heavy traffic amid cyber security monitoringCBSE said the platform remained under continuous monitoring by dedicated cyber security teams throughout the application period.The board had earlier reported multiple attempts to disrupt the portal, including denial-of-service attacks and unauthorised access attempts, during the initial days of operation. Security measures were enhanced before the portal went live, including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, load testing and continuous monitoring.According to CBSE, the verification and re-evaluation process remained available throughout the notified period despite heavy traffic and cyber security threats.The board also stated that dedicated support teams assisted students through helpdesk services and grievance redressal channels while applications were being submitted.CBSE explains ‘Roll Number Not Found’ messageAddressing complaints raised on social media and in some media reports, CBSE clarified the reason behind the “Roll Number Not Found” message that several students reported encountering while attempting to access the portal.According to the board, the message appeared in cases where a candidate had not successfully applied during the earlier stage for obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books.CBSE reiterated that only candidates who had applied for and received scanned copies of their answer books during the first phase were eligible to seek verification of issues or request re-evaluation of answers during the subsequent phase.The board said the eligibility criteria had been communicated in advance as part of the post-result services process.CBSE added that it remains committed to a transparent and student-centric post-result mechanism and will continue addressing concerns through its helpline, grievance redressal systems and other communication channels.
