Police arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, alleging they conspired to push Agarwal off the cliff. Investigators have cited recovered deleted phone data and alleged coded conversations as key evidence. NEW DELHI: Fifty Bangladeshi nationals who were staying in a detention camp in Tamil Nadu have been sent to West Bengal as part of the process to deport them to Bangladesh. They are travelling under heavy police security and will be handed over to the Border Security Force before being repatriated.Police said the group consists of 44 men and six women who had been lodged at the special detention camp inside the Attur taluk office complex in Salem district. After deportation orders were issued, they were taken from the camp to Tiruchirappalli by road in three police vans on July 3 under tight security arrangements.From Tiruchirappalli, the group boarded the Howrah Express in a specially reserved coach. A 40-member armed police team, led by Salem Armed Reserve Deputy Superintendent of Police Sakthivel, is escorting them throughout the journey.Officials said the Tamil Nadu Police will hand over the Bangladeshi nationals to the Border Security Force at the Haridaspur land border in West Bengal. The BSF will then complete the formalities required for their transfer to the Bangladeshi authorities.The special detention camp at Attur was set up to house undocumented foreign nationals while their legal proceedings are underway. Officials said the facility currently accommodates more than 130 foreign nationals whose cases are still pending or who have been released on bail.Get the latest India news and live updates. In PoJK, the JAAC has accused Pakistani authorities of denying people their basic rights. A senior leader of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKAMMC), one of the main groups leading protests in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), has appealed to people across Jammu and Kashmir to support demonstrations planned on July 5 against Pakistan’s crackdown on civilians. The appeal comes as protests continue in PoJK over human rights violations, restrictions on movement and shortages of essential supplies on Islamabad’s order.A video message by Sardar Aman Khan, a core member of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), has gone viral on social media. In the video, he calls upon people in Kashmir, Jammu, Ladakh, Poonch and Rajouri to stand in solidarity with residents of PoJK and participate in the July 5 protests, which have been planned across the region.”Through this message, I am addressing the people of the Kashmir Valley, specifically the people of Srinagar. To the people of Baramulla, and all the surrounding districts. To the people of Poonch, and the people of Mendhar. We are addressing the people of Rajouri, Jammu, Ladakh, Kargil, Gilgit Baltistan, and the people across the entire state. As you are all aware, it has been nearly a month now that Kashmir (PoJK) has been under such influence and oppression. For demanding their basic rights, the cruelty, injustice, massacre, and military aggression committed against the people here have reached their peak. In this extremely difficult phase, our food supply routes are closed, our medicine routes are closed. Even on the act of breathing, the rulers and forces here are in such a rage, questioning why the people here are even breathing. In this time of hardship, we appeal to all the people, to those across the border, and especially to the people of Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Jammu, the Valley, Ladakh, and Kargil. We have organized a protest on July 5th, and we need the support of all of you. Certainly, you must come out, speak up for our rights, and raise your voice against this cruelty and injustice,” Sardar Aman Khan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.The latest appeal follows weeks of unrest in PoJK, where the JAAC has accused Pakistani authorities of suppressing peaceful protests and denying people their basic rights. The committee has alleged that restrictions on movement, arrests of activists and disruption of essential supplies have worsened the humanitarian situation.On June 30, the JAAC criticised Pakistani authorities after an opposition delegation was reportedly prevented from entering PoJK. It alleged that the move reflected Islamabad’s continued suppression of political dissent and democratic rights.The committee also claimed that access to the region had been restricted and food supplies obstructed, while maintaining that its movement remained peaceful and focused on securing fundamental rights. It said protests would continue until its demands were addressed.Support for the movement has also emerged outside PoJK. On July 2, the National Anti-Terrorism Front India held a protest outside the United Nations office, urging the international community to intervene over the reported humanitarian situation and alleged rights violations in the region.Pakistan has also come under criticism from international rights groups. Amnesty International condemned the authorities’ actions ahead of the regional elections in PoJK and criticised the decision to declare the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee a “proscribed organisation.” It described the move as an attack on freedom of association and peaceful political activism.PoJK activist Amjad Ayub Mirza has also alleged that the situation in the region continues to deteriorate following the arrest of JAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir.”The situation in Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is getting worse by the hour. After the arrest of the leader of Joint Awami Action Committee Shaukat Nawaz Mir, so far more than 600 workers and activists of the committee have been arrested… On 5th of July, that was usually celebrated or observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day, in the name of the people of Kashmir Valley, is now being observed against Pakistan. Not only in PoJK, but also there are thousands of people who are going to turn up in London and on the 5th of July and protest against brutalities committed by Pakistan in Pakistani-occupied J&K,” he said.Activists have alleged that Pakistan has imposed an economic blockade on the region by restricting the movement of food supplies and travellers. They have also accused Pakistani forces of using drones to monitor sit-in protests. For demanding their basic rights, the cruelty, injustice, massacre, and military aggression committed against the people here have reached their peak. In this extremely difficult phase, our food supply routes are closed, our medicine routes are closed. Even on the act of breathing, the rulers and forces here are in such a rage, questioning why the people here are even breathing. In this time of hardship, we appeal to all the people, to those across the border, and especially to the people of Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Jammu, the Valley, Ladakh, and Kargil. We have organized a protest on July 5th, and we need the support of all of you. Certainly, you must come out, speak up for our rights, and raise your voice against this cruelty and injustice,” Sardar Aman Khan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.The latest appeal follows weeks of unrest in PoJK, where the JAAC has accused Pakistani authorities of suppressing peaceful protests and denying people their basic rights. The committee has alleged that restrictions on movement, arrests of activists and disruption of essential supplies have worsened the humanitarian situation.On June 30, the JAAC criticised Pakistani authorities after an opposition delegation was reportedly prevented from entering PoJK. It alleged that the move reflected Islamabad’s continued suppression of political dissent and democratic rights.The committee also claimed that access to the region had been restricted and food supplies obstructed, while maintaining that its movement remained peaceful and focused on securing fundamental rights. It said protests would continue until its demands were addressed.Support for the movement has also emerged outside PoJK. On July 2, the National Anti-Terrorism Front India held a protest outside the United Nations office, urging the international community to intervene over the reported humanitarian situation and alleged rights violations in the region.Pakistan has also come under criticism from international rights groups. Amnesty International condemned the authorities’ actions ahead of the regional elections in PoJK and criticised the decision to declare the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee a “proscribed organisation.” It described the move as an attack on freedom of association and peaceful political activism.PoJK activist Amjad Ayub Mirza has also alleged that the situation in the region continues to deteriorate following the arrest of JAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir.”The situation in Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is getting worse by the hour. NEW DELHI: The home ministry on Saturday designated 23 Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir based operatives as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, with the list including the alleged operative behind the reconnaissance of the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya and a close relative of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.The action targets a network of senior Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed functionaries, launching commanders, recruiters, financiers and logistics coordinators accused of facilitating infiltration, terror financing and attacks against India. Six of those designated are Indian nationals who are now based in Pakistan or PoJK. All 23 have been included in the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA, reported news agency PTI.Among the most prominent names is Mohammad Musaddiq, a Jaish-e-Mohammed operative known by several aliases, including Doctor and Abdul Mannan. Hafiz Abdul Shakoor, also linked to JeM and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, allegedly facilitated the infiltration of Pakistani terrorists through the Samba-Kathua sector for the same attack.The ministry also named Abdullah Jihadi, who is accused of managing launching camps in Kupwara and Baramulla, facilitating infiltration into north Kashmir and attempting to incite anti-India sentiment.Among the six Indian nationals on the list is Firdous Ahmad Bhat, who allegedly crossed into Pakistan through the Wagah border in 2018 before joining Lashkar-e-Taiba. NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled development projects worth around Rs 1.06 lakh crore during his visit to Rajasthan. The projects included the inauguration of the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, the launch of the Modified UDAN scheme, the dedication of India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex to the nation, and the foundation stone and inauguration of several infrastructure projects in Balotra.He also handed over appointment letters to around 54,000 newly recruited Rajasthan government employees. Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi said that the BJP government was committed to completing projects after laying their foundation stones and highlighted the pace of execution.He also thanked people for joining the programme from across Rajasthan and said the large turnout reflected the people’s trust in the government.”I have been informed that today, at 10,000–12,000 locations, lakhs of people have gathered for this programme. And only then has India been able to recover from the crisis.”“Will power and efforts of new India of 21st century have prevailed over century’s biggest energy crisis,” he further added.Addressing energy disruptionsOn the energy supply front, he said, “About 60% of our LPG requirements were met through imports, with 90% of that supply coming from Gulf nations, passing through Hormuz, when suddenly, war conditions brought that supply to a near-halt. You can imagine the massive crisis that was looming over our country.”Highlighting the government’s response to the disruption in LPG supplies, he said that refinery operations were quickly reoriented to boost domestic production. He said facilities that were earlier manufacturing other petroleum products were repurposed to produce LPG, while even refineries that had never produced the fuel before were reconfigured for the task.”As soon as the crisis began, we focused on leveraging our refinery capabilities. Refineries that previously produced other products were directed to manufacture LPG, and within just seven days, LPG production increased. Domestic LPG production rose from 35,000 metric tonnes to 54,000 metric tonnes during the crisis. Refineries that had never produced LPG before were reconfigured to do so.”He added that the government simultaneously worked to reduce pressure on LPG demand by expanding access to piped natural gas (PNG).”The government also ensured that the entire burden of cooking gas demand did not fall solely on LPG. A campaign was launched to expand PNG connections. In a very short span of time, India connected over 1.1 million households to PNG.”These measures helped keep cooking gas prices under control despite concerns over a sharp rise.”Given the prevailing circumstances, the price of a domestic gas cylinder could have soared to Rs 2,000, a figure predicted by major market experts. Yet, even now, a domestic LPG cylinder is being provided for less than Rs 950…”The PM also said the long-standing water crisis in the Shekhawati region was nearing resolution and congratulated residents on the development projects. “The wait to resolve the water crisis in the Shekhawati region is also nearing an end. Developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, the 9 MMTPA refinery-cum-petrochemical complex has been built with an investment of over Rs 79,450 crore.PM Modi said, “From this land, India has taken a major step towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation. Today, a refinery has been dedicated to the country. This refinery will become a source of employment for thousands of people here. I especially congratulate the youth of Rajasthan on this refinery. Today stands as proof that BJP governments do not merely lay foundation stones for projects and then abandon them. Rather, we work day and night to ensure those projects are completed.”The complex integrates refining and petrochemical production, has a petrochemical capacity of 2.4 MMTPA, a Nelson Complexity Index of 17.0 and petrochemical yields exceeding 26%. It is expected to strengthen India’s energy security, enhance petrochemical self-sufficiency, support industrial growth and generate employment in the region. During the programme, Modi also flagged off refinery production tankers from the complex.He also laid the foundation stone for Phase 2 of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project, which will be developed at a cost of over Rs 13,000 crore. The 41-km north-south corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mod will comprise 36 stations connecting major industrial and residential areas across Jaipur.Additionally, he dedicated the Churu-Sadulpur and Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projects, built at a cost of around Rs 900 crore, and inaugurated the four-laning of the NH-125A Jodhpur Ring Road Section-2, developed at a cost of about Rs 740 crore.In the renewable energy sector, PM Modi dedicated SJVN Limited’s 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Energy Project, developed with an investment of about Rs 5,500 crore, and NHPC’s 300 MW Karnisar Bikaner Solar Energy Plant. He also inaugurated a transmission line built at a cost of over Rs 1,900 crore for evacuating power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone and laid the foundation stone for a 530-km-long power transmission system for the region.Hands over appointment letters to 54,000 recruitsDuring the programme, the Prime Minister handed over appointment letters to around 54,000 youth recruited across various departments of the Rajasthan government. The recruits include personnel from the Departments of Education, Energy, Home, Panchayati Raj, Transport, Higher Education, Skill Development, Planning, Agriculture, Information Technology and Administrative Reforms.Referring to the projects inaugurated during the visit, the Prime Minister said the government focuses on ensuring timely completion rather than stopping after laying foundation stones.Gujarat visitAfter concluding his Rajasthan visit, the Prime Minister will visit Gujarat, where he is set to inaugurate the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Sanand. Developed under the India Semiconductor Mission with an investment of over Rs 7,500 crore, the facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 5 billion semiconductor chips once fully ramped up.The facility currently employs more than 300 professionals and is projected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect high-skilled employment opportunities over the next five years. NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled development projects worth around Rs 1.06 lakh crore during his visit to Rajasthan. The projects included the inauguration of the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, the launch of the Modified UDAN scheme, the dedication of India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex to the nation, and the foundation stone and inauguration of several infrastructure projects in Balotra.He also handed over appointment letters to around 54,000 newly recruited Rajasthan government employees. Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi said that the BJP government was committed to completing projects after laying their foundation stones and highlighted the pace of execution.He also thanked people for joining the programme from across Rajasthan and said the large turnout reflected the people’s trust in the government.”I have been informed that today, at 10,000–12,000 locations, lakhs of people have gathered for this programme. Everywhere you look, there are people. Through technology, people from every corner of Rajasthan are connected. I also extend my greetings from here to all my brothers and sisters of Rajasthan.”Referring to the scale of the gathering, he further added, “During this summer season, such a massive gathering of people at so many places, and your blessings for all of us, show how strong your trust is in the efforts of the BJP government. I am indebted to the soil of Rajasthan for your affection. This land has witnessed the bravery of countless warriors. Every particle of this land has taught us to place self-respect above everything else.”‘India made right decision’Commenting on India’s energy situation in the face of Middle East adversity, PM Modi said, “India has made the right decisions at every level… accurately assessed the crisis in time… devised an effective strategy… made balanced use of India’s resources. India made positive use of its diplomatic power. And only then has India been able to recover from the crisis.”“Will power and efforts of new India of 21st century have prevailed over century’s biggest energy crisis,” he further added.Addressing energy disruptionsOn the energy supply front, he said, “About 60% of our LPG requirements were met through imports, with 90% of that supply coming from Gulf nations, passing through Hormuz, when suddenly, war conditions brought that supply to a near-halt. You can imagine the massive crisis that was looming over our country.”Highlighting the government’s response to the disruption in LPG supplies, he said that refinery operations were quickly reoriented to boost domestic production. He said facilities that were earlier manufacturing other petroleum products were repurposed to produce LPG, while even refineries that had never produced the fuel before were reconfigured for the task.”As soon as the crisis began, we focused on leveraging our refinery capabilities. Refineries that previously produced other products were directed to manufacture LPG, and within just seven days, LPG production increased. Domestic LPG production rose from 35,000 metric tonnes to 54,000 metric tonnes during the crisis. Refineries that had never produced LPG before were reconfigured to do so.”He added that the government simultaneously worked to reduce pressure on LPG demand by expanding access to piped natural gas (PNG).”The government also ensured that the entire burden of cooking gas demand did not fall solely on LPG. A campaign was launched to expand PNG connections. In a very short span of time, India connected over 1.1 million households to PNG.”These measures helped keep cooking gas prices under control despite concerns over a sharp rise.”Given the prevailing circumstances, the price of a domestic gas cylinder could have soared to Rs 2,000, a figure predicted by major market experts. Yet, even now, a domestic LPG cylinder is being provided for less than Rs 950…”The PM also said the long-standing water crisis in the Shekhawati region was nearing resolution and congratulated residents on the development projects. “The wait to resolve the water crisis in the Shekhawati region is also nearing an end. Who occupies offices or Assembly seats will be decided by the Speaker and the law. But such behaviour should not happen. In democracy, the opposition has a critical role to guide government and ensure good governance,” Ghosh told reporters.His remarks came a day after a rebel faction led by Leader of the Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee took control of the party’s Metropolitan headquarters in Kolkata, escalating the internal power struggle within the TMC.The development prompted heavy deployment of CRPF personnel and Kolkata Police outside the party office on Friday.The rebel faction moved into the EM Bypass office, which has served as the party’s organisational headquarters since 2022, after approaching the Election Commission of India to stake its claim over the party’s name, funds and twin-flower election symbol.Accompanied by Firhad Hakim, Javed Khan and Akhruzzaman, Ritabrata Banerjee entered the office and replaced signage, installing senior MLA Arup Roy as the new chairman in place of Mamata Banerjee.The faction claimed the building’s lease had expired and that a fresh agreement had been signed under its working committee.”This is our party office, and it will remain our party office. The key to the main gate will be with us,” Akhruzzaman said, while adding that the faction continued to respect photographs of Mamata Banerjee displayed inside the office but rejected the leadership of Abhishek Banerjee.The takeover triggered strong protests from leaders loyal to Mamata Banerjee, who lodged police complaints against the rebel faction.Meanwhile, Kolkata Police said they would verify the ownership and lease documents of the building before allowing normal political activities to resume.The Election Commission has directed both the Mamata Banerjee camp and the Ritabrata Banerjee faction to submit their organisational claims and counterclaims by 5.30 pm on July 6.Ghosh also criticised Abhishek Banerjee over his remarks during the Assembly election campaign after the Calcutta High Court declined to grant immediate relief on his plea challenging a proposal to collect his voice sample in connection with the ‘DJ’ remarks case.”Their statements during the election time have been provocative. Many of our party workers were attacked, their homes were destroyed in post-poll violence. Built at a cost of Rs 480 crore, the terminal has the capacity to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually, as per PIB.On Friday, while sharing the images of new terminal on X, PM Modi described it as a major boost for tourism and connectivity. The terminal is inspired by Rajasthan’s royal heritage, featuring arches, domes and design motifs reflecting local culture, as per official details.Modified UDAN scheme launchedThe scheme aimed at expanding regional air connectivity and accelerating the next phase of aviation-led development across the country has also been launched by PM Modi.”Focus will be on developing 100 aerodromes from existing unserved strips and allocating more resources to Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support,” he said in his post on X on Friday.According to official details, the Modified UDAN scheme carries an allocation of Rs 28,840 crore over the next decade and aims to develop 100 aerodromes from existing unserved airstrips with an investment of over Rs 12,000 crore. (File photo) NEW DELHI: The ministry of home affairs (MHA) designated 23 Pakistan-based individuals linked to terror organisations, including Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), according to a series of gazette notifications issued on Friday.The Centre exercised its powers under Section 35 of the UAPA, which allows the government to add individuals to the Fourth Schedule of the Act if it believes they are involved in terrorism.Among those designated are Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, Mohammad Mussadiq, Mufti Muhammad Asghar Khan, Hafiz Abdul Shakoor, Abdullah Jehadi, Firdous Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Fareed, Bilal Ahmad Mir, Abid Quyoom Lone, Nazir Ahmed Gujjar, Abdul Rauf, Ashfaq Ahmad, Hafiz Khalid Waleed, Maulana Saifullah Khalid, Mohammad Yaqoob, Molana Yousaf Taibi, Owais Farooz, Qari Yaqub Sheikh, Rana Iftikhar, Waseem Noor Jat, Mohammed Shaheed Faisal, Maulana Imdad Ullah Makki and Haroon Rashid Ganai.One of the notifications identified Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, also known by multiple aliases, as a senior functionary of Jaish-e-Mohammed, a terrorist organisation already listed under the First Schedule of the UAPA.According to the notification, Masood Ilyas Kashmiri is based in Rawalkot in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and has been involved in recruiting youth for JeM, imparting terrorist training and facilitating the infiltration of terrorists into India.The MHA also said he was involved in the April 22, 2022, terror attack on security forces at Sunjwan in Jammu and has been linked to several other terror attacks that caused deaths and injuries.The notification stated that the Central Government believes Masood Ilyas Kashmiri is involved in terrorism and has therefore added his name to the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA.The remaining 22 individuals were designated through separate notifications issued under the same provisions of the Act. The central mastermind of the Ram temple donations theft racket explicitly ‘taught employees how to steal’ and subsequently roped in his nephew and an estimated 200 external handlers to run the operation, claims a three-part investigation, ‘Operation Chanda Chori’, by Times Now.The investigation features an on-camera whistleblower, a close aide to SC-appointed Ram Mandir trustee Mahant Dinendra Das, who reveals a highly organised racket siphoning off gold, silver, and material donations meant for the temple.The investigation also reveals a highly sophisticated modus operandi designed to siphon temple gold and silver under the guise of processing. Gold and silver offerings were allegedly packed into sacks and transported via trains to Karnataka for melting, completely bypassing local jewellers in Ayodhya, Faizabad, or Lucknow. Handlers deliberately manipulated transportation logs. For example, transporting 26kg of gold while carrying an official voucher for only 25kg. If intercepted, the voucher covered the bulk, and if undetected, the extra gold was immediately pocketed. While the temple’s heavy precious metals were sent by rail, the masterminds travelled via commercial and chartered flights.The investigation also alleged misappropriation of material donations.A consignment consisting of two truckloads of winter jackets, sent by a donor in Mumbai for low-income temple staff, was allegedly hijacked. Only 40 jackets reached the workers; the remaining bulk of the shipment was reportedly diverted to the private residence of a senior trust member and illegally sold into the commercial market.To ensure the racket continued without interference, the “syndicate actively isolated and blinded key members of the trust”.The whistleblower claimed that communication channels were intentionally cut to keep SC-appointed trustees, including Mahant Dinendra Das, in the dark.Get the latest India news and live updates.
