BJP national president Nitin Nabin (File photo) NEW DELHI: At the receiving end of mocking remarks from Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, BJP president Nitin Nabin Monday drew public endorsement from PM Narendra Modi, who said his simplicity is a matter of pride for every BJP worker.Modi cited social media posts from a person who studied with Nabin in school and then college in Delhi and shared incidents of the period to underline his modesty and lack of airs despite being the son of an MLA from Bihar, to praise him.”This simplicity is a matter of pride for every BJP worker,” he said.PM’s intervention came days after Reddy made what BJP slammed as belittling remarks for its president. “Recently, a guy came here, Nabin or whatever, I don’t really know his name. But he comes here and says the next govt is theirs,” Reddy said at an event in Hyderabad. On a tour to Telangana, Nabin had claimed BJP will form the next govt in the state, drawing the jibe from Reddy.Kejriwal had posted a snide remark, reacting to Nabin’s attack on him and a few other opposition leaders for keeping quiet when their party colleagues allegedly insult Hindu gods. “Who are you,” the ex-Delhi CM had posted. The mocking comments from the opposition members were in an apparent reference to BJP president’s relative lack of national recognition before he was picked for the top organisational office by his party brass.Nabin was a five-term MLA from Bihar and a minister in the state govt before being elected to the national office. His school and college mate cited several examples, including that Nabin travelled by DTC bus to save money and chose to live in Mandawali in West Vinod Nagar as the monthly allowance sent to him by his father was not enough to rent flat in a society.Nabin entered politics after BJP fielded him to contest the assembly bypoll caused by the death of his father in 2006.Get the latest India news and live updates.
