Chirag Paswan, LJP(RV) chief, refuted claims of discord between his party and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) during the Bihar elections, calling it a ‘false narrative’. He highlighted his party’s strong performance, exceeding exit poll predictions, and praised Nitish Kumar’s determined campaigning. Paswan also criticized the opposition’s language and their post-result blame game, emphasizing NDA’s unity and commitment to Bihar’s aspirations. Chirag Paswan (ANI image) NEW DELHI: Union minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday strongly criticised what he described as a “false narrative” created during the Bihar Assembly elections about differences between his party and chief minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U).A day after the NDA registered a landslide victory with 202 seats in the 243-member House, Paswan said several exit polls failed to show LJP(RV) in double digits but his party’s performance proved those predictions wrong.‘Full Stop to Many Questions’ Chirag Paswan Hails PM Modi, Nitish as NDA Soars Past 200 Seats“You had analysed this (seat allocation) on your channels… The mindset behind that analysis was that Chirag Paswan has been given those seats to lose,” he said in Patna.”During Bihar poll campaign, a false narrative was created that there were differences between JD(U), LJP(RV),” Paswan said as reported by news agency PTI. “Throughout the elections, attempts were made to set a narrative that there are cracks between JD(U) and LJP(RV). Most of the exit polls did not show us even in double digits. I didn’t contest on the basis of surveys, but on the basis of my hard work,” he added. Paswan also stated that some political commentators linked his 2020 stance against JD(U) with the seats given to his party this time. “A few of my ‘well-wishers’ started building a narrative that JD(U) played the same game with me in 2025. But the results speak for themselves,” he added.Earlier, Paswan met Nitish Kumar in Patna and congratulated him personally on the NDA’s win. He praised the chief minister for leading the campaign with determination despite heavy criticism from the Opposition.“When the so-called youth leaders of Bihar remained in their rooms because of inclement weather and gave speeches on their phones, my CM was going out for campaigning. He showed his capability,” LJP(RV) chief said.He added that Bihar’s voters never accept crude political language and stood firmly with the NDA.“Opposition tried to build false narratives, made personal comments on my PM but it made our alliance even stronger. Bihar and Biharis are known for dignity, for their culture. Biharis have never accepted such crude language,” he said.Paswan shared that the meeting with Nitish Kumar was “cordial and constructive”. He also stressed out that the NDA partners are united to fulfil people’s aspirations.“I conveyed my warm wishes to Nitish Kumar ji and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the NDA government will continue to deliver on its promises,” he said. The LJP(RV) chief also criticised the Opposition for blaming EVMs and officials after the results.“If they spent as much time on their own assessment as they do on finding fault, then Congress and RJD would achieve something better. No Bihari tolerates personal comments that go below limits,” he said. The NDA crossed the 200-seat mark for the second time in Bihar’s electoral history. BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) 85, LJP(RV) 19, HAMS 5, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha secured 4 seats. The Mahagathbandhan, including RJD and Congress, secured only 35 seats in total. The elections saw a record voter turnout of 67.13%, with higher participation by women.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. National Conference president Farooq Abdullah blamed the Nowgam police station blast on improper handling of explosives, calling it “our mistake” and urging the involvement of trained experts. He also expressed frustration over growing suspicion towards Kashmiris nationwide following the incident, which killed nine and injured 32. National Conference president Farooq Abdullah (Image credits: IANS) NEW DELHI: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday blamed the Nowgam police station blast on improper handling of explosive material, saying it was “our mistake” and should have involved trained experts. He also expressed frustration over the growing suspicion faced by Kashmiri residents across the country following the car blast near Red Fort.J&K Police Confirm 9 Killed in Nowgam Blast After Explosives Recovered From Faridabad Blows UpThe explosion occurred late Friday night while an explosive device was being handled inside the police station premises. Nine people were killed and 32 others were injured, who were later admitted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar.Speaking to ANI, Abdullah demanded a thorough and independent probe. “This is our mistake, those who understand this explosive better, we should have talked to them first about how to deal with it instead of trying to handle it ourselves, you saw the result, nine people lost their lives. So much damage was caused to the houses there,” he said.”We haven’t yet come out of the crisis in Delhi where fingers are being pointed at every Kashmiri. When will that day come when they will accept that we are Indians and we are not responsible for this, ask those who are responsible why these doctors had to take this path? What was the reason?” he remarked.Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat said speculation around the incident was unnecessary, noting that initial findings suggested an inadvertent explosion during a mandated forensic procedure.Abdullah said the circumstances surrounding the blast, including the alleged involvement of individuals with medical backgrounds, required deeper scrutiny. “There is a need for a thorough investigation and study of this,” he said, urging accountability to prevent similar incidents.According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the explosion was triggered by the highly unstable nature of material recovered during a probe into a terror module linked to the November 10 Delhi Red Fort blast, which killed 12 people.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. Following a significant electoral setback for the Mahagathbandhan, Lalu Prasad’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, announced her departure from politics and disowned her family. Acharya’s statement on X has sparked considerable discussion regarding the party’s future direction. Rohini Acharya NEW DELHI: Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya said on Saturday that he has decided to quit politics, declaring that she was disowning her family a day after the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan’s poll debacle in Bihar.Taking all the blame, Rohini hit out at Sanjay Yadav, who is a close confidant of Tejashwi Yadav, for her decision and alleged that it was Sanjay Yadav and Rameez who “asked” her to do so.”I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family … This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do …nd I’m taking all the blame’s,” she wrote on X.Earlier, the RJD, reacting for the first time to its major setback the state polls, said on Saturday that it is not “despondent” despite suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of the ruling NDA, which secured a landslide victory with 202 seats. The RJD, which was the largest party in the Mahagathbandhan, saw its tally collapse from 75 to just 25 seats — one of its most disappointing performances since 2010. The dramatic slide, which resulted in the loss of over 100 seats to NDA allies, came despite the coalition uniting behind Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial face.Overall, the Mahagathbandhan vote share and seat count fell sharply, ending below the 40-seat mark and far from government formation. In contrast, the BJP emerged as the strongest performer within the NDA, winning 89 seats, its highest-ever tally in Bihar. The JD(U), led by Nitish Kumar, secured 85 seats, while Chirag Paswan’s LJP (RV) posted an impressive strike rate by winning 19 of the 29 seats it contested. AAP’s padyatra enters Day 3 in UP The Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘Rojgaar Do – Samajik Nyay Do’ padyatra continued its outreach efforts as the foot march entered its third day on Friday, moving from Bikapur in Ayodhya to Kurebhar in Sultanpur. The march, led by AAP UP in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, passed through Khajurahat, where residents gathered along the route.Addressing the participants, Singh said that the padyatra aims to draw attention to unemployment and issues concerning Dalits, backward groups and other communities. He said the campaign sought “employment for youth and an end to discrimination.” He added, “Ram Rajya will be possible only when everyone gets equal opportunities and every hand gets work. Society cannot progress without employment and justice.”Singh also criticised the BJP-led state government over paper leaks and alleged irregularities in recruitment exams. Citing vacancies across departments, he said more than 2 lakh posts were vacant in the Education Department, around 50,000 in Health and Medical Services and over 1 lakh in Police and Security Services, highlighting how the gap between sanctioned posts and appointments has affected job seekers.Referring to incidents involving Dalits and backward communities, Sanjay Singh alleged discrimination in various institutions. “Democracy cannot be strong until the last person in society gets justice,” he said.Commenting on AAP’s win in the Tarn Taran by-election in Punjab, Singh said the result reflected public support for the party’s approach to governance. “The Tarn Taran victory shows that people want development, education, and jobs — and that is exactly what AAP stands for,” he said. The 13-day march, covering nearly 200 km, will travel through Sultanpur and Amethi before concluding in Prayagraj.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosPakistan Rejects Taliban Narrative And Says Rising Terror From Afghan Soil Can No Longer Be IgnoredNDA Sweeps Bihar, Nitish Kumar Prepares for 10th CM Oath; A Look Back at ‘Sushasan Babu’s’ JourneyPiyush Goyal Says India Ready For WTO Leadership, Rejects Reform Agendas Pushed By Developed NationsJ&K Police Confirm 9 Killed in Nowgam Blast After Explosives Recovered From Faridabad Blows UpPM Modi Predicts Major Congress Split After NDA’s Bihar Win And Warns Allies Of Growing Instability‘Bengal Is Far-Fetched…’ Bengal Minister Shashi Panja Hits Back at PM Modi’s Jungle Raj Jibe‘Very Bleak Message To World’: South Africa Envoy Condemns Delhi Blast And Seeks Joint Action“All options open…” Piyush Goyal on ongoing India-Canada talks after two rounds of discussionsUN Must Reform Now: India Demands Expansion of Both Permanent And Non-Permanent UNSC Member StatesDeadly Explosion At Nowgam Station Exposes Scale Of 360 Kg Urban Terror Cache Seized From Faridabad123PhotostoriesMumbai’s Big Shift: Inside BMC’s Plan for a 1,000-Dog Mulund Shelter7 animals with the most attractive and expressive eyes! Not Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, or Rekha, THIS veteran actress rules as India’s richest star with Rs. 7,000 crore fortuneFood-themed cute nicknames for baby boys and girlsIndia’s First Private Railway Station in Bhopal Promises Luxury and Comfort Like Never BeforeHow to raise kids who don’t give up easilyJaipur Installs Giant Air-Cleaning Towers as AQI Nears 200—Will They Really Help?Leading ladies who turned debut hits into overnight stardom10 dog breeds that are kid friendlyThe best book genres for kids to boost brain development123Hot PicksAlinagar Election ResultRaghopur Election ResultBihar Election Result 2025Gold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingLaMelo BallGiannis AntetokounmpoJoel EmbiidAidan HutchinsonNHL Trade RumorLatin GrammyDak PrescottBrazilian Bodybuilder Found DeadPercy HarvinStephen Curry
