NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday hosted a joint delegation from Japan and India, emphasising that youth exchanges are pivotal to driving the next chapter of bilateral relations as the two nations approach a major milestone in their diplomatic history.Speaking at an interaction in Lucknow with Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki, 13 Japanese high school students, and 20 local students from schools across the city, the chief minister urged the younger generation to build lasting connections across borders.Highlighting the foundational role of education and cross-cultural understanding, CM Yogi Adityanath underscored that future diplomatic strength relies on shared learning environments:”Our strongest relationships are built in classrooms, campuses, laboratories, and between young minds. May our children understand each other’s culture, values, and life vision; may they learn together and grow together. Because today’s children will be the most effective ambassadors of the India-Japan partnership tomorrow.”Looking ahead to the upcoming 75th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations, the Chief Minister pointed out how combining Japan’s traditional work philosophy with India’s youth demographic could yield unprecedented global benefits:”Next year marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. You are the future ambassadors to strengthen these ties. Japan is known for its technology, tradition, and commitment. When the strengths of Japan–ikigai, teamwork, mutual respect–come together with India’s young workforce and talent, it will create new global possibilities. Today you are students; tomorrow you will be scientists, artists, sports champions, policy makers, and global leaders.”He further connected the partnership to broader philosophical goals, linking India’s traditional ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development: “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas–is an extension of the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”The chief minister also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s significance as a centre of spiritual tourism and spoke about the places visited by the Japanese students during their trip.”Uttar Pradesh is known as the heartland of India’s spiritual tourism. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitating lakhpati didi Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday inaugurated Chaupal–2026 under the Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan located at the chief minister’s camp office. On the occasion, he said that more than 13,000 entrepreneurs across the state have so far been supported through the Chief Minister’s Udyamshala Yojana. In addition, more than 8,000 women entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups have been connected with entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.During the inaugural session, the Chief Minister announced that a state-level marketing centre would be established at 13 Gaon in IT Park, Dehradun, to facilitate the marketing of products made by self-help groups from all districts of Uttarakhand.Addressing the inaugural session, the chief minister said that today, the villages of Uttarakhand are not only becoming participants in the development of the state but are also playing an important role in building a self-reliant Uttarakhand through their capabilities and hard work. He said that the enthusiastic youth and enterprising women of the state possess the desire and skills to achieve something meaningful, while Uttarakhand’s local products have immense potential to reach markets across the country and the world. What is needed is to provide the right direction to this talent.With this vision, the state government has been working to take the Chief Minister’s Udyamshala Yojana forward. Through the scheme, the government aims to ensure that the youth of Uttarakhand become job creators rather than job seekers. At the same time, efforts are being made to strengthen the economic condition of farmers and women. The Chief Minister’s Udyamshala Yojana is an important means of translating this vision into reality.He said that through the scheme, rural entrepreneurs are being provided with the necessary training, financial assistance, technical guidance and support in connecting with markets to start and expand their businesses.CM Dhami said that on the one hand, more than 5 lakh rural women in the state have been connected with over 70,000 self-help groups through the National Rural Livelihood Mission. On the other hand, more than 3 lakh women have successfully become Lakhpati Didis. He said that the women of Uttarakhand are turning everything from hill spices, mandua (finger millet), jhangora (barnyard millet), pulses, honey, pickles and jams to handicrafts, woollen products and local art into successful enterprises.The chief minister said that the government is working to take products made in villages to major cities across the country. In this direction, an umbrella brand named House of Himalayas has been created.He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the nation the mantras of Vocal for Local, Local to Global and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The state government is working to translate these mantras into reality. The government wants that whenever someone purchases a product from Uttarakhand, they should also experience the hard work, culture, traditions and fragrance of the soil of the hills in that product.For this reason, facilities such as rural haats, marketing centres, collection centres and agriculture service centres are being strengthened across the state so that farmers and entrepreneurs can access better markets and receive better prices for their products.He said that a major objective of promoting rural entrepreneurship is also to check migration from the hills. The government wants young people not to be compelled to leave their villages in search of employment. Because when villages become strong, Uttarakhand becomes strong.In this direction, the government is also working through the Gramothan Project (REAP) to connect extremely poor families in villages with livelihood opportunities and increase employment opportunities in rural areas.The chief minister said that “Chief Minister’s Udyamshala Chaupals” are being organised in all 13 districts of the state. The objective of these chaupals is to ensure that more and more people become aware of government schemes and are able to benefit from them. For the same purpose, publicity vans are also being sent to villages so that information about the chief minister’s Udyamshala Yojana reaches the last person in society.During the programme, the chief minister felicitated Lakhpati Didis and women entrepreneurs. He also released a book and annual report prepared under the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission. NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the world is looking at India as a “bright spot of growth and hope”, stressing that the country’s reform journey has shifted from a “punishment model” under the earlier licence raj governments to an incentive-based approach.Addressing the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026, PM Modi said the world had witnessed several ups and downs in recent years and that the future of all nations was interconnected.”The world has witnessed many ups and downs over the past few years, and these experiences have made one thing abundantly clear: whether one likes it or not, the futures of all nations are interconnected. Nothing is possible in isolation,” the Prime Minister said.”‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ was India’s guiding mantra during its G20 presidency. This spirit of a shared future, along with the accompanying sense of responsibility, offers solutions to many of the challenges facing the 21st-century world. There are various concerns regarding global growth. The world has witnessed a grim scenario recently; resources are being weaponized, and an atmosphere of mistrust is giving rise to numerous new challenges. Yet, even in such times, the world views India as a bright spot of growth and hope,” he added.From ‘production-linked punishment’ to PLIPM Modi criticised the earlier licence raj governments, saying they followed a “Production Linked Punishment” (PLP) model that penalised companies for increasing production.“Today’s younger generation will be surprised to hear that there was a time in our country when if a company produced more than the prescribed limit, it was punished. This was the PLP, or Production Linked Punishment, model of the earlier licence raj governments,” he said.“Those who make fun of the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat campaigns today are rooted in the same thinking of the past — PLP, or Production Linked Punishment,” he said.’Prohibited unless permitted’ to ‘permitted unless prohibited’PM Modi also said the government is changing the country’s regulatory philosophy by moving away from the earlier approach of requiring permission for activities unless explicitly allowed.“Earlier, the approach to regulations was ‘prohibited unless permitted’ — meaning you could not do something unless the government gave you permission. We are changing this approach to ‘permitted unless prohibited’. That means, for anything that is not explicitly prohibited by law, there should be no need to seek permission at every step.”He said the shift was intended to recast the relationship between the state, citizens and businesses around trust rather than suspicion.“The relationship between the government and citizens should be based not on suspicion, but on trust,” PM Modi added.The Prime Minister also highlighted legislative work undertaken during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.”In the Monsoon Session of Parliament, we have passed the Bankers’ Books Evidence Bill, even as the Opposition has continued to create disruptions in Parliament. NEW DELHI: A scuffle broke out in Ranchi between student protesters and police following an attempt to burn effigies of Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.“They gathered in large numbers at the prominent Albert Chowk to burn effigies of CM Soren and Rahul Gandhi. When the police tried to control them, a scuffle broke out. NEW DELHI: Bribes.fyi began as a side project and, within 48 hours, clocked 5 million requests and 2 lakh new users. It shut down as suddenly as its meteoric rise took social media by surprise.Built by 20-year-old Delhi BTech student Aryan Nishad, it displayed a neon-red map of India for anonymous reports of alleged bribe demands. By Aug 17, it had logged reports from 253 cities—against police, RTOs, and revenue and land records offices, and passport offices. 37% were, interestingly, marked “refused”, meaning users said they did not pay and still got their work done. The site stressed these were user submissions, not verified cases.The site then abruptly went offline, citing traffic, data security, spam, duplicate entries and misuse. Calling the shutdown voluntary and precautionary, the team said: “What we did not build was the infrastructure to carry that kind of attention safely”. But a public admission on a website falls outside that protection.“So a person writing, ‘I paid Rs 5,000 to get my licence issued’ may be making a statement potentially relevant to their own criminal liability,” said Mishi Choudhary, technology lawyer and founder of Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC.in). The law has a policy problem, she said, and platforms must build “anonymity and security by design… from the beginning” and “not collect identity at all”.The safest approach, she said, is to collect minimum data because complainants “can’t be punished twice for doing what the system is forcing them to do”. Such a service is “a repository of sensitive personal data, allegations of criminal conduct and police information”, she added.The platform also raises intermediary-liability questions because it collected, moderated, categorised and mapped allegations instead of merely hosting them.“Safe harbour under Section 79 protects an intermediary that does not select or modify the information it hosts,” said Apar Gupta, founder director of Internet Freedom Foundation. “Moderating and approving reports… is an active function” that may exceed that role, he said, citing ongoing Wikipedia litigation in Delhi. Under Shreya Singhal vs Union of India 2015, removal requires a court order or govt notification, not a private complaint, though IT Rules prescribe grievance timelines. “A disclaimer offers no protection by itself.” Officials, he said, “complain to the police, not to the courts.”Platforms collecting names, phone numbers or IP addresses are data fiduciaries under the DPDP Act and face penalties up to Rs 250 crore for security failures, though Section 17 exempts govt agencies. “A platform cannot promise anonymity while retaining identifying records,” Gupta said. NEW DELHI: Bribes.fyi began as a side project and, within 48 hours, clocked 5 million requests and 2 lakh new users. It shut down as suddenly as its meteoric rise took social media by surprise.Built by 20-year-old Delhi BTech student Aryan Nishad, it displayed a neon-red map of India for anonymous reports of alleged bribe demands. By Aug 17, it had logged reports from 253 cities—against police, RTOs, and revenue and land records offices, and passport offices. 37% were, interestingly, marked “refused”, meaning users said they did not pay and still got their work done. The site stressed these were user submissions, not verified cases.The site then abruptly went offline, citing traffic, data security, spam, duplicate entries and misuse. Calling the shutdown voluntary and precautionary, the team said: “What we did not build was the infrastructure to carry that kind of attention safely”.
