NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh police on Monday registered a case against a American national -named Jordan Brown- after he was apprehended for entering Nepal without proper authorisation or valid documents, officials told news agency ANI.According to officials, a case has been registered against him at the Sonauli Police Station under Sections 21/23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act for entering India without valid documents.What we know so farAccording to Additional SP (Maharajganj) Siddharth, Brown was spotted near the Sonauli border by security personnel during a routine patrol. When asked to stop, he allegedly tried to flee but was overpowered and taken into custody.Officials found that Brown was not carrying a passport, visa or any other identity document at the time of his detention.”On July 11, the SSB apprehended an individual near Sonauli for attempting to enter Nepal without authorisation,” Additional SP said.”During questioning, he (Brown) revealed that he had travelled to Thailand on a tourist visa, where he lost his passport. He subsequently reached Sri Lanka via a sea route and arrived in India from there by sea on November 2, 2025. Since then, he had been residing in Goa. He was attempting to travel to Nepal when the SSB apprehended him,” he added.He also told officials that he had travelled to Bali, Indonesia, in May before returning to India, and had spent nearly two months in the country without carrying his passport.SHO Mahendra Mishra said Brown identified himself as a native of California and claimed to have travelled to 70 countries.Brown further claimed he studied at the University of California and served in the US Navy and Special Forces for six years before leaving the military around two years ago.He told police that he arrived in Goa from the United States about two months ago, stayed there for nearly six weeks, and then travelled to Bengaluru.From Bengaluru, Brown claimed he boarded a bus to Lucknow on July 8, continued to Gorakhpur, and later hired a taxi to reach the Sonauli border.He alleged that an acquaintance in Bengaluru was in possession of his passport. However, officials said he failed to provide complete addresses or verifiable details about the person.Brown also claimed he met an Indian woman from Uttarakhand in Italy three years ago and married her in October 2024. India summons Iranian envoy after Indian crew member killed in Hormuz tanker strike (ANI images) India on Tuesday summoned Iran’s deputy chief of mission in New Delhi, Mohammad Javad Hosseini, after an Indian crew member was killed in an Iranian strike on two United Arab Emirates (UAE) oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.The ministry of external affairs (MEA) called in the Iranian envoy to lodge a formal protest over the attack on commercial vessels passing through the strategic waterway near Oman. While officials did not disclose details of the meeting, diplomatic sources said the discussion has concluded.One Indian killed, eight injured in tanker attackAccording to reports, the two tankers — Mombasa and Al Bahiyah — were struck while transiting the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil passes during peacetime. After conservative treatment in Iraq failed to provide relief to Ahmed Abdulmueen Kadhim over several years, he travelled to India seeking treatment. NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old Iraqi man weighing 162 kg has regained his ability to walk after undergoing a technically challenging total hip replacement at a private hospital, in what doctors describe as one of the most complex joint replacement surgeries performed on a morbidly obese patient at the facility.Ahmed Abdulmueen Kadhim had been living with severe pain and progressive loss of mobility due to secondary degenerative arthritis of his right hip. After conservative treatment in Iraq failed to provide relief over several years, he travelled to India seeking treatment.The patient’s extreme body weight posed major surgical and anaesthetic challenges. Excessive weight not only makes surgical exposure and implant positioning more difficult but also places significantly higher mechanical stress on the artificial joint, requiring meticulous planning and specialised implants.The surgery, performed at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Patparganj, was led by Dr (Prof. ) Anil Arora, Chairman and Head of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement. The team carefully planned the implant selection and fixation strategy to ensure long-term stability despite the patient’s high body weight.”Performing a total hip replacement in a patient weighing 162 kg presents significant technical challenges. Careful pre-operative planning, precise implant positioning and stable fixation were critical to achieving a successful outcome,” Dr Arora said.Doctors used a collared femoral stem implant to provide additional support for the replacement joint. The surgery was completed without complications, and postoperative X-rays confirmed satisfactory positioning and stability of the implants.Following the operation, the patient underwent supervised physiotherapy and rehabilitation aimed at strengthening the muscles around the operated hip and gradually restoring mobility.
