‘Kannur Squad’ sequel: Rony David Raj shares an UPDATE; Says ‘ We have already spoken to Mammookka’
Actor and writer Rony David Raj has shared a promising update for fans of ‘Kannur Squad’. He revealed in a recent interview that conversations about a sequel have already begun and that Mammootty has been informed about the project.Speaking in an interview with Reporter Films, Rony explained that the team has initiated discussions but is waiting for everyone involved to return from their current shooting schedules before taking the next step.
Team have already spoken to Mammootty
Providing an update on the sequel’s progress, Rony David Raj said the makers have already discussed the idea with Mammootty. However, he clarified that detailed planning will begin only after director Roby Varghese Raj and the actor complete their ongoing commitments.He said, “Discussions regarding ‘Kannur Squad 2’ are happening. We have already spoken to Mammookka about the project. Roby also has to be there. He is currently busy shooting a film with Kunchacko Boban. Once he returns around the middle of July, we’ll decide the next course of action. Mammookka is currently in Chennai, shooting for Dhanush’s film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. Only after all of them return can we discuss the remaining details of the film.”
The success of ‘Kannur Squad’
‘Kannur Squad’ marked the directorial debut of Roby Varghese Raj, who had previously earned recognition as a cinematographer on films such as ‘The Great Father’, ‘Puthiya Niyamam’ and ‘John Luther’.The film featured Mammootty in the lead alongside Ronnie David Raj, Shabareesh Varma and Azees Nedumangad.The screenplay was written by Ronnie David Raj and Muhammed Shafi. On the other hand, Mammootty is currently in Chennai shooting for director Rajkumar Periasamy’s upcoming film starring Dhanush, titled ‘Om: Chapter 1’. His next project with ‘Falimy’ director Nithish Sahadev started rolling on the last day.
