NCERT organises nationwide webinar series to introduce new Class 9 textbooks under NCF 2023

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is launching a special webinar series on the occasion of the introduction of the new NCERT textbooks for Class 9 students for the 2026-27 academic session. The move is aimed at enabling principals, teachers, and parents to understand the changes introduced through the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023.The webinars will take place daily from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM until April 20. The move is significant as schools are gearing up to adjust to the new academic framework. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 focuses on providing conceptual clarity and skill-based learning while avoiding the information overload that the old curriculum forced on students.

A digital-first approach to reach every classroom

The NCERT has adopted an entirely online approach for this outreach program, which is beneficial as it is available across the nation without any geographical constraints. The sessions will be streamed live via PM eVIDYA DTH TV Channels, the NCERT YouTube Channel, and PM eVIDYA’s own YouTube Channels for school education. The PM eVIDYA App is also being used for the same purpose, which will enable the participants to join the sessions using mobile devices. This is an attempt to make sure that even people in remote locations stay connected with the latest academic news.

Teachers and parents invited into the conversation

This is where the webinar series stands apart from other academic briefings. The webinar series has been designed as an interactive platform where participants can raise questions, provide their feedback, and clarify their queries with the help of a dedicated IVRS number and email id.This is important because teachers are the first ones who would be affected if there is any problem with the new books. New books might require a change in the way teachers teach as well.

What the new textbooks could mean

The new textbooks for class 9 appear to be the first step towards the implementation of NCF SE 2023. Initial signs point towards a shift from rote-learning to understanding concepts and using them in practical scenarios. This is a change for schools, who need to reassess their strategies. And for students, it could mean an interesting experience. Moreover, parents are also being included in the loop, giving them an idea of what to expect as the new academic session begins.

A crucial moment for education reform

The success of this particular webinar series could well impact how curriculum changes are rolled out in the future in India. With such large-scale changes, of course, the real challenge in implementing policy is not in making it happen but in making it happen successfully. The move by NCERT reflects a growing emphasis on transparency and participation in education reform. Whether it will make a difference in terms of a smoother rollout of the new textbooks in classrooms will be seen in the coming months.
