2 held for firing at Guru Randhawa’s gym (ANI) NEW DELHI: Two alleged associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested following a brief exchange of fire with the Delhi Police special cell in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, police said on Thursday. The duo is accused of being involved in the June 11 firing outside a gym owned by Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa.In a social media post after the incident, gangster Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the firing and cited the singer’s association with Salman Khan as the reason for targeting the gym, PTI reported. Pandit is an operative of the Bishnoi gang who is reportedly in the US.The accused, identified as Haqeeqat and Sagar, had been on the run since the shooting. Their arrest brings the total number of people held in the case to four. According to police, the two suspects had arrived in west Delhi on Wednesday night allegedly to execute another crime when special cell teams intercepted them based on specific intelligence inputs. On spotting the police team, the accused allegedly opened fire, triggering a retaliatory response. Both men sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the exchange and were subsequently overpowered. Police said firearms were recovered from their possession. Earlier, two other accused — Arman (19) and Tushar alias Tashu alias Pinku (21), both residents of Haryana’s Sonipat district — were arrested by the crime branch in Bahadurgarh.Get the latest India news and live updates.
