Arvind Kejriwal NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday wrote to 29 automobile manufacturers, seeking a written clarification on the impact of E20 ethanol-blended fuel on vehicle mileage and engines safety and asked them to respond within seven days.Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said he had sent separate letters to Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Hero MotoCorp, while the remaining 26 companies received a different communication seeking their position on E20 fuel. Watch Unpublished ARAI Study Flags E20 Compatibility Issues In Older Vehicles”There are 29 automobile manufacturers. The letters have already been prepared and are being dispatched while this press conference is underway,” Kejriwal said.Kejriwal said the three companies had stated during the Centre’s July 4 press conference that E20 fuel could be safely used in older vehicles, with only a marginal reduction in mileage.”During the government’s press conference on July 4, their representatives stated that it is safe to use E20 fuel in older vehicles. They said fuel efficiency may decline slightly by around 3–5% but that it does not damage the vehicle,” he said. However, he alleged that this contradicted the companies’ own owner’s manuals.”However, their owners’ manuals state that under no circumstances should vehicles manufactured before 2023 use petrol blended with more than 10% ethanol. These are two contradictory positions,” Kejriwal said.He added that the owner’s manual forms part of the agreement between the company and the consumer.”Your published owner’s manual, which forms part of the agreement between the consumer and the company, says one thing, while your representatives say something entirely different at a government press conference. This is not a minor mistake or discrepancy. Therefore, I have asked them to publicly clarify their actual position in writing,” he said.In his letters to Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar and Hero MotoCorp, Kejriwal sought a written assurance that consumers would be compensated if E20 fuel reduced mileage or caused any damage to their vehicles. The remaining 26 automobile manufacturers have been asked to clarify their position on the use of E20 fuel, its impact on vehicle performance and mileage, and respond to concerns being raised by consumers.Earlier on Tuesday, the party chief said he will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week, urging the government to make E20 fuel optional.”Prime Minister, why should the public suffer for your misadventure? Tell us who will pay the penalty if our mileage drops or our vehicles are damaged — your government or the company?” Kejriwal said. He also urged the Centre to allow consumers to choose between different grades of petrol.”With folded hands, I request Modi ji to agree to the demand of the public to give them an option – where all variants of fuel, be it E20, E10 or E0 – all are made available at petrol pumps at separate pricing,” he added.Get the latest India news and live updates. “My personal relationship with Suvendu Adhikari was very good,” said Mahua Moitra. NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra heaping praise on Suvendu Adhikari, who is her party chief Mamata Banerjee’s arch nemesis, has raised eyebrows as the mass exodus of leaders from the “sinking” TMC continues to shape West Bengal politics.Mahua’s “Suvendu supported me a lot” remark triggered a buzz in political circles as some of Mamata’s loyalists, feeling “blue”, have ditched the party ever since Bengal witnessed a landmark political shift, with the BJP bulldozing the once-dominant TMC in the country’s key non-Hindi-speaking state.”My personal relationship with Suvendu was very good. When we were in the same party (TMC) together, he supported me a lot. When I contested from Karimpur for the first time, no one came to campaign for me. Even today, you can see all the photos of him with us,” Mahua Moitra said in an interview. She further said: “In 2014, I was supposed to get a Lok Sabha ticket, but it didn’t happen, and I cried all night. It was Suvendu who supported me. Later, he joined the BJP, and we don’t speak anymore because he is in a different political party. But no one can forget our personal relationship.”Her remark spread like wildfire as she is considered one of the most firebrand leaders in Didi’s party and has incessantly been breathing down the BJP’s neck on the range of issues. However, as the statement began caching the eyeballs on the internet, she was quick to scorch the speculation, saying the chunk of an interview was ” cherry picked” and that Suvendu was “no angel”. “Yes it is cherry picked pls listen to the full interview. Suvendu is no angel but he had the guts to leave & fight on their ticket unlike these traitors. And i had a good relationship with him while he was in our party but have never spoken to him since he left . Why make these comments without listening to the full interview?” she wrote in a reply to a user on X.Amid the cloud suspicions and test of loyalties, the battle for control of the TMC reached the Election Commission (EC) on Monday, with both the Mamata Banerjee camp and the rival Ritabrata Banerjee faction submitting separate lists of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in support of their respective claims. In a communication to the EC, Mamata Banerjee outlined the party’s organisational structure “as on June 20, 2026”, which her supporters described as the officially recognised hierarchy of the Trinamool Congress. The list identifies Mamata Banerjee as the party’s chairperson, Subrata Bakshi as vice-president, and Abhishek Banerjee as national general secretary and leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. Rajya Sabha MPs Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen, along with treasurer Subhasish Chakraborty, were also named as members of the NWC.The dissident faction, however, submitted a separate list to the poll body, naming four-time Howrah MLA Arup Ray as chairperson in place of Mamata Banerjee. The rebel group has argued that under Article 20 of the party constitution, a National Working Committee must be reconstituted at least once every three years. According to the faction, the last NWC was formed on February 12, 2022, and its term expired on February 11, 2025.Rejecting that contention, a senior Trinamool MP said the party’s official records already establish the legitimacy of the existing committee.“The EC website has the NWC list submitted in 2024. Also, the Trinamool constitution, also uploaded on the EC website, clearly spells out the role and function of the chairperson, and that she can never be replaced,” the MP said. NEW DELHI: The opposition parties are mulling another notice in Parliament for removal of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar , the move coming days after their earlier plea was rejected by the Speaker of Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the RajyaSabha.Sources said key INDIA bloc parties are discussing the matter and working on a possible draft. The decision to revive the issue was based on the fact that the presiding officers of the two Houses Om Birla and CP Radhakrishnan gave reasoned orders on why the notices were being rejected. It is felt that the notices can be submitted again by rectifying the lacunae mentioned by the two Chairs. It was said that one reason for the rejection was the absence of specific instances of misdemeanour.Sources said talks are at an early stage and would take some time to mature. The bid to press against CEC Kumar appears an attempt to make a political statement in the wake of controversies surrounding the SIR in election-bound West Bengal, after similar rows erupted in other states. While there is consensus among opposition parties on the issue, Trinamool Congress has been its prime mover. While the earlier notice was submitted in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the opposition is still to decide if to follow the same pattern or to pick one House for the new petition. The discussion on re-petitioning against the CEC comes in the wake of the Modi govt’s defeat on the Constitution amendment bill on delimitation and women’s quota.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosCong, TMC, DMK Guilty’, PM Modi Blasts Oppn For Blocking Women Reservation BillIndia Summons Iran Envoy Summoned After Ships Targeted In Strait of Hormuz | WatchWomen’s Reservation Amendment Fails In Lok Sabha, Delimitation Bill Put On HoldYogi Adityanath Alleges ‘Identity Crisis’ In Bengal, Targets TMC Over GovernanceBJP Leaders Protest Outside Rahul’s Residence Over Women Quota Bill; Hema Malini, Bansuri Lead10th Indian Vessel Crosses Strait Of Hormuz Since Conflict Began”Women Were Being Used” Tharoor Backs Women’s Reservation, Warns On Delimitation Issue: “You’re Firing… After Clearance!” India-Flagged Ship’s Last Words Before Hormuz TurnbackNation Awaits PM Modi’s Address As Women Bill Fails And Hormuz Crisis Escalates‘Not A Failure Of The Government’: Why Rijiju Is Blaming The Opposition For Women’s Bill Defeat123PhotostoriesAkshaya Tritiya 2026: Why these foods are considered auspicious and bring good fortune and prosperity5 watches rich men with old money wear6 healthy leaves you should add to your daily dietAkshaya Tritiya 2026: Buy these 5 things for good fortune5 grand palaces that are now world-famous museums7 factors driving real estate growth in India’s non-metro cities7 foods in your kitchen that actually came from PersiaAlia-Ranbir to Saif-Kareena: 5 celebrity weddings that completely rewrote the Indian shaadi style rulebook’The Devil Wears Prada 2′ to ‘The Odyssey,’ and more: Hollywood’s biggest 2026 Summer releases10 iconic biryani varieties in India you probably haven’t tried yet123Hot PicksIran warDelimitation Bill DefeatPurple cap winnerOrange cap winnerIPL Points TablePublic holidays April 2026Bank Holidays AprilTop TrendingIPL Orange Cap 2026VijayPM Modi LiveWorld Largest EconomySue BirdIce SpicePahalgam Pony Wallah StoryWomen Quota BillE Coli Smuggling CaseErika Kirk Event
