DHAKA: Bangladesh on Thursday summoned acting Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawan Badhe and protested the remarks made by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and stressed avoiding comments that might hurt bilateral ties.Director General (South Asia) Ishrat Jahan conveyed Dhaka’s position to the acting Indian high commissioner during a meeting at the ministry of foreign affairs (MoFA). Bangladesh described the remarks as disparaging to Bangladesh-India relations and expressed its displeasure to India, said a diplomatic source. The MoFA, however, did not issue any official statement.Sarma on April 26 said 20 foreign nationals were apprehended in Assam and pushed back to Bangladesh.“Rude people don’t understand soft language. We continuously remind ourselves of this prophetic line when we expel infiltrators from Assam who don’t leave themselves. For instance, these 20 illegal Bangladeshis who were PUSHED BACK last night,” Sarma said in a post on X, according to Indian media reports.Bangladesh stressed that public statements capable of straining ties between the two neighbours are counterproductive, and highlighted the importance of exercising restraint when addressing sensitive bilateral issues.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosChanakya Today Exit Poll: BJP Sweep In Bengal, DMK Ahead In TN, Assam Favours NDAUS Hands Back 657 Stolen Antiquities Worth Million To India, Exposes Global Smuggling NetworksNaval Anti-ship Missile : Navy, Drdo Demonstrate Salvo Launch That Can Sink ShipsECI Introduces New QR Code Photo ID Rule To Prevent Unauthorised Entry At Counting CentresCCTV Shows Car Plunging Into Gorge In Una, Himachal | Tyre Burst Suspected, 2 KilledDelhi HC Freezes Sunjay Kapur Assets, Restrains Priya Kapur In High-Stakes Inheritance DisputeLet’s Not Choose For People: Supreme Court Pulls Up Centre Over Minor Rape Survivor’s Pregnancy Case’Sonia Gandhi Takes Decisions’: Congress President Kharge On Karnataka CM Change BuzzHafiz Saeed’s Aides Hunted Down: Lashkar-e-Taiba Loses Commanders to Mysterious KillingsRecord Bengal Turnout at 92.9%, SIR Row and Voter Surge Complicate Poll Reading123PhotostoriesFrom opening up about his troubled childhood and growing up in a violent home to facing bullying at school; Sidharth Bhardwaj recalls his traumatic pastThis Indian street food is crowned Prayagraj’s official signature dish8 South Indian dishes among the Top 100 Pancakes in the WorldVirat Kohli: 7 life lessons to learn from the RCB cricketerTV serials with strong woman leads, ‘Naamkaran’, ‘Neema Denzongpa and others- check the list hereHow to make Rajasthani Gatte Ka Pulao for summer dinner5 most crowded national parks in the USA; what travellers should knowGokuldham society’s plot twists that no one saw coming: From Tapu going bald to Babu Ji going to jailAishwarya Rai Bachchan to Deepika Padukone: The real price of Bollywood’s most expensive sarees explainedFrom UK’s Prince Harry to Japan’s Princess Mako: Royals who gave up their titles and wealth for love — Shocking true stories123Hot PicksExit Poll Result 2026Bengal Election 2026Bengal ElectionPM ModiAjay Pal SharmaBengal Poll RecordHimanta Biswa SarmaTop TrendingPune Gas LeakBengaluru Wall CollapseVande Bharat expressDelhi NewsPawan KheraTripura Madhyamik Result 2026CBSE Class 12th ResultMumbai Police DeathBSE AP SSC Class 10th ResultIPL Orange Cap

NEW DELHI: Ladakh lieutenant governor Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday rejected China’s claim over the Shaksgam valley, asserting that the entire region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir belongs to India and warning that no expansionist attempt would be tolerated.China on Monday reaffirmed its territorial claims over the Shaksgam valley amid India’s objections, maintaining that Chinese infrastructure projects in the area are “beyond reproach”. Shaksgam Valley Row Deepens As China Rejects India’s Claim And Defends CPEC Infra Project With Pak “The whole of (Pakistan-occupied) Kashmir is ours. We do not know what Pakistan has traded with China. China should understand that nothing will be achieved through its expansionist policy. India is capable. It is not the India of 1962, it is the India of 2026. Any such attempts will be foiled. The Ministry of External Affairs is taking cognisance of it,” Gupta told reporters here.He said China must realise that India today is far stronger than it was in the past and recalled that Beijing had earlier laid claims on parts of Arunachal Pradesh as well.Taking aim at Pakistan, the lieutenant governor alleged that the neighbouring country had failed its own people and was engaging in questionable dealings. “Pakistan is a state kept on sale. It has no concern for its sovereignty or its own people. Voices are being raised in Balochistan, Sindh and Karachi, and atrocities are being committed by the Pakistan Army there. Those areas are virtually being run by the Army,” Gupta said.Gupta also cautioned against making provocative statements on sensitive issues, noting that there is a clear parliamentary position on PoK. “Such statements should not be made which are provocative in nature. There is a Parliament resolution of 1994 which clearly states that the entire PoK belongs to India,” he said.Reacting to a recent statement by the Army chief that ‘Operation Sindoor’ is ongoing, Gupta said the armed forces enjoy complete national support. “The entire country stands with the Army. The Army chief has given a responsible statement and I welcome it,” he said.Responding to allegations by some regional leaders in Jammu and Kashmir about unrest in Ladakh, the lieutenant governor dismissed the claims, asserting that the region is progressing rapidly. “Ladakh is moving at a fast pace on the path of development. Ladakhis are united, fully nationalistic, and they fully support the government in all development work,” he said.Highlighting the increase in budgetary allocations, Gupta said Ladakh has seen a sharp rise in funding. “I want to convey to those leaders to mind their own business. This is not the Ladakh of the past, which was given a budget of Rs 150 crore. Today, Ladakh has a budget of around Rs 6,000 crore,” he added.India last Friday criticised China’s infrastructure development projects in the Shaksgam valley, saying it reserves the right to take necessary measures to safeguard its interests as the area is Indian territory. Pakistan illegally ceded 5,180 sq km of Indian territory in the Shaksgam valley to China in 1963 from areas illegally occupied by it.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide. Representative image NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Rs 33,660 crore scheme, Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA), to set up 100 fully built industrial parks across the country over the next six years, aiming to boost manufacturing by making it easier for them to start factories. The parks, ranging from 100 to 1,000 acres (25 acres in hilly and northeastern states), will be developed with ready infrastructure, including roads, utilities and factory spaces, allowing companies to move quickly from planning to production.Officials said the scheme will be implemented through partnerships between the Centre, the states and private players, with states expected to take the lead in sponsoring projects. “We are expecting the state govt will be the primary sponsor for parks under the scheme… but the private sector can also come in for development,” a govt official said. The Centre will provide support of up to Rs 1 crore per acre for roads, underground utilities, drainage, factory sheds, warehousing, worker housing and support amenities and more.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos’Pak Missiles Could Hit US’: Intel Chief Tulsi Gabbard Flags Nuclear Threat, India Left Off ListIran’s National Security Chief Ali Larijani Killed, Foreign Minister Says ‘Won’t Destabilise Tehran’Russia Confirms Jaishankar-Lavrov Phone Call On BRICS Differences Amid Iran War, Middle East Crisis’Just A Pause, I Shall Be Back’: Priyanka Chaturvedi’s Viral Farewell Speech In Rajya Sabha’Hormuz Remains Our Foremost Priority’: PM Modi Speaks To Kuwait’s Crown Prince Amid West Asia WarRussian Oil Tanker Bound for China Makes U-Turn to India as Delhi Steps Up Imports Amid Iran War’Esteemed, Kind People’: Iran Thanks India As It Receives First Medical Aid Shipment From New DelhiIndia Secures Oil Supply As Jag Laadki Ship Survives War Threat At Hormuz, Reaches Gujarat SafelyIndia On Target?
