India’s Chandrayaan-4 lunar sample-return mission, a complex joint effort with Japan, is slated for a 2028 launch. This initiative aims to explore lunar resources and develop crucial operational technologies. Concurrently, ISRO is progressing with its manned lunar mission target of 2040 and the Bharatiya Antariksha Station by 2035. NEW DELHI: The Chandrayaan-4 lunar sample-return mission, which recently received the Centre’s approval, is likely to be launched in 2028, Isro chairman V Narayanan has said. Isro is set to launch seven more satellites, including the liftoff of a PSLV rocket made entirely by the industry in the current financial year. The Isro chief said the Chandrayaan-4 mission will be India’s most complex lunar endeavour yet. “We are targeting 2028 for Chandrayaan-4,” he said. Chandrayaan-4 is also called LUPEX (Lunar Polar Exploration Mission) and is a joint programme between Isro and Japan’s space agency Jaxa. The LUPEX project is aimed at exploring the Moon for water and other resources and gaining expertise in exploring the surface of the Moon. “Acquiring technologies needed for rovers and landers to operate in the harsh lunar environment is very important for pursuing space exploration,” said Jaxa.Narayanan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed Isro to work towards sending Indian astronauts to the lunar surface and bringing them back safely by 2040. India’s planning for a manned lunar mission comes against the backdrop of the US gearing up to send crewed missions to the Moon under the Artemis programme, most probably next year, and China setting a 2030 target for its first crewed landing on the Moon.On the Gaganyaan mission, Narayanan said only the timeframe for uncrewed missions has been shifted, and there is no change in the manned mission schedule. “The uncrewed mission was targeted for 2025. The crewed mission was always planned for 2027, and we are holding on to that date,” he said.Narayanan said Isro has also begun work on Bharatiya Antariksha Station, targeted for completion by 2035. “The first of the five modules will be placed in orbit by 2028,” he said. The mission, if successful, will make India the third country to operate a space station — the US-led multi-country station ISS is nearing the end of life and will be deorbited in year 2030 and China’s Tiangong station is moving into full gear.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosJaishankar, Russian FM Lavrov Hold Key Talks in Moscow Ahead of Putin’s India Visit ‘In 3 Weeks’India Doubles Down On Russian Oil Imports Despite U.S. Sanctions HeatBangladesh Seeks Hasina’s Return As India Notes ICT Tribunal Verdict, Calls For Peace And Stability’This Generation Can Bring Viksit Bharat Before 2047’: Army Chief Dwivedi’s Message To Gen ZHasina Verdict Sparks Outrage as Ex-Indian Envoy Questions Evidence and Awami League Cries Black DayPak Army Chief Asim Munir Vows ‘Strong Response’, Army Chief Dwivedi Warns Op Sindoor Was A TrailerPM Modi Condoles Families as 45 Indians Feared Dead in Saudi Bus CrashOusted Bangladesh PM Hasina Calls ICT’s Death Sentence ‘Rigged’, Says It Denied Fair Trial RightsFrench Consulate Staffer Molested In Bandra As Mumbai Police Launch Rapid Hunt To Track The SuspectAfter 5th August 2019…’ Army Chief Counters Mehbooba’s Charge Against Centre Over J&K Situation123PhotostoriesWhat happens when you eat garlic soaked in matha (buttermilk)This simple at-home test can reveal how fast your digestive system worksWorld’s 5 underrated travel destinations to bookmark, and whyFrom wanting to find a boyfriend in Bigg Boss Marathi to their age-gap; Nikki Tamboli and Arbaz Patel open up about their love story3 common mistakes to avoid while consuming fruits and why5 stunning purple coloured animals that seem to be painted by artistsFrom playgrounds to healthy lifestyle: Sachin Tendulkar’s parenting tips for today’s familiesFrom ‘Sacred Games’ to ‘Panchayat’: Web series that turned Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpayee, Jaideep Ahlawat and others into digital icons7 addictions one should break to become their best selfMalaika Arora to Demi Moore: 5 must-see looks of the day ruling the style charts123Hot PicksDelhi AQI TodaySheikh Hasina VerdictBihar Government FormationGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingKayla NicoleAaron Rodgers InjuryShedeur SandersDubai Prince Sheikh Hamdan Net WorthRohini AcharyaDraymond GreenLebron JamesPaige GrecoZelina VegaCharlie Mcavoy Injury

The National Investigation Agency has arrested Jasir Bilal Wani from Srinagar. He is linked to Delhi suicide bomber Umar Un Nabi. Wani’s father died after setting himself ablaze. Investigations reveal Wani provided technical support for terror attacks. He allegedly modified drones and attempted to make rockets. The NIA is continuing its search for all involved in the bombing. SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced Monday the arrest of a Kashmiri college student from Srinagar linked to Delhi suicide bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi, hours after the suspect’s father died in hospital of burns suffered in a purported immolation attempt outside their home in Anantnag district’s Qazigund.Jasir Bilal Wani, aka Danish, had been detained four days ago for interrogation along with his paternal uncle Nabeel Wani, a physics teacher. The family said Jasir’s father Bilal Ahmad Wani, 55, was summoned by police last Saturday and he returned home “distressed”. The next morning, Bilal walked out of his house in the Wanpora neighbourhood of Qazigund and set himself ablaze, resulting in severe burns. The dry fruits trader died at Srinagar’s SMHS Hospital early Monday.NIA issued a statement confirming that Jasir’s interrogation over the past few days yielded clues to the Delhi blast, including what the agency said was his “active involvement” in the car blast that killed 14 people and wounded over 30 people.”Investigations have revealed that Jasir allegedly provided technical support for terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the deadly car bomb blast,” NIA said. “The accused was a co-conspirator who worked closely with the terrorist, Umar Un Nabi, to plan the terror carnage. NIA continues to explore various angles to unravel the conspiracy behind the bombing.”Multiple teams are working on leads and searching for suspects across states “to identify every person involved in the terror attack”, the agency said.Jasir’s arrest was announced a day after NIA took into custody Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Samboora in Pampore, for conspiring with Nabi. The car used in the explosion was registered in his name. The Wanis are neighbours of Dr Adeel Rather, arrested from UP’s Saharanpur on Nov 6 on suspicion of being part of the “white-collar terror module”.PDP chief and ex-CM Mehbooba Mufti blamed police “high-handedness” for Bilal immolating himself. In a post on X, accompanied by a picture of a man with burns across his back, she wrote, “Petrified about their (Bilal’s son and brother) safety he pleaded with the authorities to just see them, which was denied. Iran has suspended its visa-waiver facility for Indian passport holders starting November 22, 2025, following incidents where Indians were lured with false job promises and subsequently kidnapped for ransom. The Ministry of External Affairs advises vigilance against agents offering such arrangements. This action aims to curb the misuse of the visa-free entry for criminal activities. ANI file photo The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday issued a travel advisory after Iran suspended its visa-waiver facility for ordinary Indian passport holders. The suspension takes effect on November 22, 2025, from when Indian nationals will be required to obtain a visa to enter or transit through Iran. The move follows multiple incidents in which Indian nationals were allegedly lured to Iran on false job promises or assurances of onward travel to other countries.According to the MEA, several Indian nationals were deceived with fake job offers or promises of onward travel to third countries and were encouraged to use Iran’s visa-free entry to make the journey. Once they arrived, many were reportedly kidnapped for ransom.”The attention of Government has been drawn to several incidents of Indian nationals being lured to Iran on false promises of employment or with assurances of onward transit to third countries. These individuals were tricked into journeying to Iran by taking advantage of the visa waiver facility available for ordinary Indian passport holders. On arrival in Iran, many of them were kidnapped for ransom,” the MEA said through a statement. In response, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has halted the visa-free entry provision to prevent further misuse. The MEA has strongly advised Indians planning to travel to Iran to “remain vigilant” and to avoid any agents offering visa-free entry or transit arrangements via Iran.Earlier this year, a 26-year-old man from Karala in northwest Delhi was reportedly kidnapped and held in Iran. The victim, Himanshu Mathur, was detained for a week and released after his family paid a ransom of Rs 20 lakh.Mathur was reportedly kidnapped and held in Iran after being lured with promises of a job and Australian work visa. He initially contacted Aman Rathi, who convinced him to complete a 15-day course in Noida and later arranged for him to travel to Jakarta and then Tehran. Instead of proceeding to Australia, Mathur and Rathi were abducted in Chabahar and held by a gang.In a separate case, a young man from Amritsar, who had hoped to move to the United Kingdom, reportedly fell victim to an international visa scam and was held hostage in Iran. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for his release. Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Granthgarh village in Ajnala Tehsil, had travelled to Iran on September 14, believing a UK visa would be arranged for him from there.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide.
