12 NEW DELHI: After a brief pause during intense campaigning for Bihar polls, attention has swiftly turned to one of the BJP’s longest-pending decisions – the election of a new national president to succeed J P Nadda. The Bihar polls, which saw NDA secure a landslide victory with over two-thirds majority in the 243-seat House, have not only boosted party morale but also accelerated talks about internal leadership transitions. The first indication of the possibility of the transition coming soon was seen on Thursday when organisational poll in-charge K Laxman, a Rajya Sabha MP and head of party’s OBC Morcha, was seen holding consultations with colleagues at the party headquarters.Nadda has been at the helm of the party since Jan 2020. His initial three-year term was repeatedly extended – first until June 2024 for Lok Sabha elections, and then again amid organisational delays – to ensure stability during key electoral battles. Nadda’s tenure officially ended last year, but extensions have kept him in place, leading to growing impatience within the ranks.BJP’s constitution mandates a structured process for electing a new president. Organisational polls must first be completed in at least half of the party’s 37 state units – requiring elections in 19 states – before the national election can proceed. As of mid-2025, the party had crossed this threshold by appointing new state chiefs in key regions like Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Andhra, Puducherry, and Mizoram. However, indecision persists in UP.Sources have indicated that a leader in his early fifties, with organisational experience, will be given the responsibility to helm the party with a long term vision. The party has already made the transition in the states, districts and at mandal level as most of office-bearers appointed recently are below 50 years of age. Sources have indicated that the leadership transition will be followed by the first Cabinet reshuffle of PM Modi’s third term.Several names – including those of Union ministers Manohar Lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhupender Yadav – had been doing the rounds. NEW DELHI: BJP claimed on Thursday that foreign-based influencers in league with Congress, pretending to be neutrals, are behind promoting anti-govt narratives, including over “vote chori” and Operation Sindoor, and personal attacks on PM Narendra Modi, and said Rahul Gandhi is unfit to be a politician in India.BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra cited a new feature in X, which allows users to see where an account is based, to say that handles of a number of Congress’s state units, its functionary Pawan Khera and many influencers identified for their strident stand against govt are based abroad. Influencers sitting in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ireland and Singapore and having nothing to do with India are setting narratives here, he said, adding that many of these handles using Indian names are unlikely to have a real identity. “Rahul Gandhi does not only speak against India from abroad. He sets narratives against India by planning and design,” Patra said.BJP later posted, “X’s new ‘Location Display’ feature has uncovered a staggering revelation: dozens of Congress-Left ecosystem accounts spreading anti-India narratives are not even in India. This is a coordinated foreign influence campaign targeting India’s democracy, security, and unity.”Congress dismissed the charge as BJP’s diversionary tactic, and alleged that some accounts linked to the governing party are based abroad too. It can be due to a host of technical reasons, including due to the use of VPN and temporary travel, the opposition party said.X’s decision to display the location and identity of its users set political circles aflutter earlier this week as handles belonging to some of trenchant “Indian” critics of Modi, who had an active presence on the platform, turned out to be Pakistani.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideosIndia Is a Key Ally, Cyprus Assures Strong Push to Finalise India–EU FTA TalksImran Khan Health Rumour: PTI Holds Sit In Outside Adiala Jail, KP CM Sohail Afridi Stages ProtestRam Madhav Challenges ‘No-Religion’ Narrative in White Collar Terror DebateAustralia Says India Is Now A Leading Global Power, Credits PM Modi For Transforming World DynamicsOusted PM Sheikh Hasina Faces Fresh Conviction as Court Awards 21-Year TermPM Modi Announces Major Move Allowing Private Players Into Nuclear Sector To Spur Advanced ReactorsExplained: Why Vikram-I Could Transform India’s Satellite Launch Market And Global Space Leadership‘Pak, Bangladesh, US…’: BJP Alleges Congress Using Foreign ‘X’ Accounts to Set India’s NarrativePakistan’s Adiala Jail Issues Statement On Imran Khan’s Health Amid Viral Death RumoursThe Indrajaal Ranger: India Unveils AI-Enabled Anti-Drone Patrol Vehicle In Hyderabad123PhotostoriesWhat is the ideal meal to sleep gap time, and why it is important for digestion and better sleepMalayalam cinema legends who made every frame shine with raw talentBollywood gems reviving forgotten tales with fresh heart and magic for a new generation of cinema lovers everywhereFun facts about the ‘Stranger Things’ castFrom ‘Apne’ to ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’: Dharmendra movies you can watch on OTT platforms‘Stranger Things 5’: Meet the new cast and find out who survives the final battle‘Stranger Things’ cast: Then and now‘Stranger Things’ cast: Educational qualificationsTaarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: From Dilip Joshi being older than Amit Bhatt to Mandar Chandwadkar leaving his Dubai job for acting; Lesser-known facts about the castGastroenterologist doctor reveals the power of eating 3 eggs everyday123Hot PicksDelhi AQI TodayNew Labour CodeWorld NewsGold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingToronto Maple LeafsAyesha CurryFuzzy ZoellerCristiano RonaldoStefon DiggsGabrielle UnionVanessa BryantReed Sheppard GirlfriendStephen CurryCandace Owens
