President Droupadi Murmu has commenced a historic state visit to Angola, marking 40 years of diplomatic ties. President Murmu with Angloan counterpart NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Angola’s capital, Luanda, on Sunday for a state visit at the invitation of president Joao Lourenco. Upon her arrival, she was given a ceremonial welcome by the Angolan president.Earlier, president Murmu was received at the airport by Angola’s minister of external relations, Tete Antonio, and the vice governor of Luanda province, Jorge Miguens.This is the first-ever visit by an Indian head of state to the country. The visit marks 40 years of diplomatic relations between India and Angola. Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the visit reflects India’s growing engagement with Africa and will further strengthen bilateral cooperation. “President Droupadi Murmu lands in Luanda, the capital city of Angola. India and Angola are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. This visit will further strengthen India-Angola bilateral cooperation,” he wrote on X. Sudhakar Dalela, secretary (Economic relations) at the MEA, said the visit carries special significance as President Lourenço, who visited India in May, currently chairs the African Union. He recalled that India had consistently supported Angola during its freedom struggle.During the visit, the president will hold bilateral talks and attend Angola’s 50th Independence Day celebrations on November 11. She is also scheduled to address the Angolan parliament and meet members of the Indian community. Discussions will focus on deepening cooperation in areas such as energy, agriculture, trade, technology, infrastructure, defence, and investment. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat NEW DELHI: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday addressed criticisms about the organisation’s registration status, stating that RSS is officially recognised as a body of individuals, after Congress questioned its operations.”RSS was established in 1925, so do you expect us to have registered with the British government?” Bhagwat responded during a RSS-organised question and answer session.He clarified that post-independence, the Government of India did not mandate registration, and RSS is officially categorised and recognised as a body of individuals. Bhagwat further noted that both the Income Tax department and courts have acknowledged RSS as a body of individuals, granting them tax exemption. “We were banned thrice. So government has recognised us. If we were not there, whom did they ban?” Bhagwat pointed out.He further stated that many entities remain unregistered, citing “Even Hindu Dharma is not registered” as an example.Addressing allegations about flag preferences, Bhagwat explained that while saffron holds special significance in RSS as a Guru, they maintain deep respect for the Indian tricolour. “We always respect, offer tribute and protect our tricolour,” he affirmed.These statements followed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent call for RSS ban. On being asked why Sangha does not support any political party, he said, “We do not support any political party. We do not participate in vote politics, current politics, or election politics. We support policies, and especially now that we are a force, we will exert our force to support the right policy. Not individual, not a party, but policy. For example, we wanted to have Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. So our Swayamsevaks supported those who stood by its construction. BJP was there, but if Congress had supported that, our Swayamsevaks would have voted for that party also.”Further asserting his stance, he added, “We don’t have special affinity towards one party. There is no Sangh party. No party is ours, and all parties are ours because they are Bharatiya parties. We support Rashtraneeti, not Rajneeti. We do that publicly. We’ll ask the public to think about this and support them. NEW DELHI: In an attempt to seal the finances of banned Popular Front of India (PFI), the ED on November 6 attached properties worth Rs 67 crore of various trusts associated with the outfit and its political front, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). The attached properties are mostly located across Kerala. The total value of properties attached in the case so far is Rs 129 crore. The top brass of PFI is being investigated by NIA and ED for its role in sponsoring terror activities, particularly after it was found operating a terror training camp in Kerala’s Narath, for which a special NIA court convicted 21 of its activists in 2016. “The history of origin of PFI can be traced back to the ban of Jamaat-e-Islami after demolition of Babri Masjid… At that time, properties of Jamaat-e-Islami were sealed under UA(P)A. Taking inspiration from these developments, PFI members who were part of National Development Front at that time, formed various trusts across Kerala and registered various properties owned and controlled by PFI under them,” ED said. ED has arrested 28 top members of PFI so far during its money laundering investigation.A money trail revealed the outfit was engaged in collection of huge funds in India and in Gulf countries. Tejashwi Yadav PATNA: RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav Saturday promised “job guarantee” to youth, irrespective of caste or creed, if INDIA bloc forms a govt in Bihar. “As soon as the govt is formed, there will be a flurry of appointments. The phone you are using to record the rally will start receiving job messages,” he said at a rally in Jehanabad, one of the 18 public meetings he addressed across state on Saturday. He also promised to credit the entire annual financial aid of Rs 30,000 to beneficiary women’s accounts in Jan next year. “I seek your blessings to uproot the ‘ineffective’ regime,” INDIA bloc’s CM candidate told the audience. He claimed that during the 17-month grand alliance govt in Bihar, his administration provided govt jobs to five lakh people, while recruitment for another 3.5 lakh posts was initiated. Addressing rallies in Sasaram and Bhabua, Singh said, “If Rahul is really concerned about SCs, STs or minority communities, he should have given the post of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha to someone from these communities.” Rejecting his allegation of “vote chori” in Bihar, Singh said, “If Rahul thinks votes are being stolen, he should file a complaint with EC. He is not doing that and is simply levelling false allegations against a constitutional body.” Singh also criticised Rahul’s remarks about reservations in the armed forces.
