He also launched a Rs 5,000 crore Credit Repayment Guarantee Sub-Scheme (CRGSS), which will provide guarantee coverage for term loan assistance to urban local bodies for their projects taken up under UCF.Another Rs 5,000 crore has been set aside for project preparation and capacity building.As per the guidelines, the fund will be implemented with a total investment of Rs 4 lakh crore from FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31, extendable by three years. While the Centre and state can fund 25% of the project cost each, the remaining 50% must be financed through bonds, loans, or private participation.The guidelines also mentioned that private participation can also include community-led private investment mobilisation. Ward-level foundations, resident welfare associations (RWAs), and community organisations are allowed to mobilise private investment for local urban utilities.Officials said this funding pattern is aimed at ensuring financial discipline, enhancing accountability and encouraging private sector participation in urban infrastructure projects. It also observed that seaborne coal transport volumes fell 3% in March to the lowest levels since 2021.“The record growth in global clean power generation, particularly solar and wind, has helped ease the impact of the latest fossil fuel crisis. The increase in clean electricity offset the fall in gas-fired power generation following the Hormuz blockade, preventing a jump in coal-fired power generation,” said Lauri Myllyvirta, lead analyst at CREA. “To mitigate the effects of the current crisis and make such recurring global emergencies a thing of the past, it’s essential to use this moment to accelerate the global energy transition.”The report stated that in the US and India, growth in solar power was the single largest driver of fall in fossil fuel-based power generation. Given that 12 lakh households who have enumerated so far are only a minuscule percentage of the total population of the eight states, the enumerator visits will be crucial to capturing the complete and accurate data on housing conditions and household amenities.The HLO phase of the census forms an essential foundation for evidence-based planning and formulation of welfare and development programmes, a home ministry spokesperson said on Monday.Self-enumeration window is open till April 19 in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and till April 24 in Uttarakhand.
