NEW DELHI: The festive season brings joy to many. What it also brings is opportunities for the street vendors to earn an income to feel the festive vibe themselves. In Odisha, however, an attempt to earn a living during the Christmas season took a wrong turn.A video is going viral from the streets of Odisha that shows a man bullying street vendors for selling Santa hats. The video, seemingly recorded by one of the group members, shows the man walking from one vendor to another, yelling at them for celebrating a foreign festival as he claims it is a “Hindu country.””Yeh Hindu rashtra hai. Yahan Christian ka chalega nahin (This is a Hindu rashtra. We won’t tolerate Christian items here),” the man can be heard at the vendors. He also questions them for whose permission they are selling the Santa hats. The first vendor, trying to get help on the call, then begins to wrap up his shop when he first shot cuts there. The man dressed in a yellow Kurta Pajama then moves on to the second vendor and yells “ye sab nahi chalega yaha (This won’t do here.)”About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide.
